Why does God ask us to remember our story?

One of the themes throughout the book of Deuteronomy is for Israel to remember their past in order to not lose gratitude for what God has done in their lives. We as Christians need to do the same.

Deuteronomy 5:15 -> the 4th commandment asks us to rest in order to remember

Deut. 8:1-2, 10-14 -> we will face tests to see if we remember God's blessings or become self-reliant

Deut. 16:9-12 -> Lets celebrate what God has done and invite everyone. {Luke 14:13-14}

Deut. 24:17-22 -> Remember our past and help meet the needs of the marginalized.

Ephesians 2:11-13, 19-22 -> We also were enslaved to and by sin but God saved us and brought us into his household.

1 Corinthians 11:23-26 -> Remember the price paid for our freedom

Let us remember what we have been saved from and be lights to those around us.
