With the conclusion of Grounds Week, we had the opportunity to talk with the CEO of the Grounds Managment Association, Geoff Webb. We discussed all of the incredible work of the GMA and their advocacy not only for their members but for safe playing surfaces through their work on the development of the framework of proper field management. These frameworks go beyond the pitch and include significant work with leadership, budgeting, work-life balance, etc. Truly some inspirational works of the GMA, like the recent All Female crew working a sold-out women's premier league game at Arsenal. What an incredible episode with an exciting industry professional, Em Casey! We discuss all of the amazing parts of her work at Seven Canyons Golf Resort, including her work with the unique wildlife of Javelinas, which is one of the duties assigned when it comes to golf course superintendents and their work. What a way to kick off 2024 with a phenomenal episode with someone who truly gives our industry hope with the young, excited, and determined next generation of the Turfgrass industry. Mira Emma embodies all of these things with an extremely unique vantage point of playing Division 1 Soccer while pursuing her degree in Turfgrass Science at Iowa State. One of the best podcasts we have ever recorded on one of the biggest subjects in the history of sports field management the FIFA World Cup 2026. The United States has been selected as the host city along with Canada and Mexico for all games practices and beyond for the world cup. One of the best parts of this conversation is that this research funding has never happened before, and these three men are leading the team that is conducting the critical research that will ensure the same playing surface in two hemispheres and five time zones. This episode is one that you do not want to miss. I cannot thank them all enough for them taking the time and sharing their incredible work.

A fantastic episode with two of the very best in this industry, with Adam and Will providing insight into some of the best genetics in the world of Turfgrass management on both sides of warm and cool season grasses. The future of our industry is bright with these two Texas Aggies. Hailey Tucker and Megan Muesse are two Texas A&M Turfgrass Program members who just recently joined the program this semester. When we talk about some of the most skilled professionals and industry leaders, we are talking about Amy and Nina! They have the most experience in the sports field industry out of all the crew members and infinite knowledge in field construction. They are consultants and experts for fields ranging from little league to some of the best stadiums in the country. I was fascinated by their work and what they brought to the table on this grounds crew. They were two incredible mentors for the younger girls on the staff, and I was so excited for the opportunity to talk with them after years of watching their careers from a distance!

In today's episode, we had the honor to host Mr. Blake Meentemeyer, the Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations at TPC Scottsdale. This was such a fantastic episode where we discuss the recent event of the Waste Management Open, one of the largest golf events in the world, on an annual basis. The kids learned the specific aspects of agronomy that go into the course's overall playability from season to season in a unique setting in the middle of the desert.
