Bitty and Beau’s say they are a human rights movement disguised as a coffee shop. They exist to advocate, lift up, and empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. And they do it through coffee.

This week’s episode is a deep dive into Jude as we kick off a two-week series in the second to last book of the New Testament. Relevant today as it was when it was written, this episode breaks down what was happening at that time and how it relates to our lives today.
Jude’s letter serves as a warning to the church at a time when the church was full of false teachers, religious extortion and theological wolves who were preying on God’s beloved sheep. Season 5 is coming! Starting September 26, we’ll release a new episode every Monday through the end of the year. We’ll take a deep dive into the sermon each week, starting with “The Next Thing”, through 10:10 Life, a two-week series studying Jude, and ending with a Christmas Series called Rescue Mission. We’ve reached the seventh and final week of If The Tomb is Empty, and it ends with Mount Calvary. This is the same mountain as Mount Moriah in week 1.
There is no empty tomb without the crucifixion. Pastor Joby, Charles and Ali talk through what happens leading up to the crucifixion and the seven things Jesus said on the cross before Jesus’s death.
Praise God, we know how the story ends. Because of all this, everything leading up to this moment was designed by God on purpose for His glory and we can celebrate a resurrected King.

It’s week 6 and we’re at the Mount of Transfiguration. This mountain is where Jesus took Peter, James and John to the top and demonstrated His glory, known as transfiguration. Peter, James and John experience an incredible, intense moment of worship, face-to-face with the manifest presence of God. After this, they walked down to meet a father, desperate at the foot of the mountain, where he asks Jesus to cast out a demon from his son.
Sometimes we’re in the place of the dad in the valley who is desperate for a miracle. Sometimes we’re the disciples coming down from the mountain top sent on mission to gather, anoint and pray for those who need it.

We have an enemy who wants to steal, kill and destroy. He’s been at it in our lives since the beginning of human history, even with Jesus. What will you do when temptation comes your way? With what weapon will you fight?

This week we visit the fourth mountain – Mount of Beatitudes. This is the same mountain where Jesus famously preached the Sermon on the Mount.
Jesus starts the Sermon on the Mount with eight blessings. As followers of Jesus, we get to live in blessing and in the kingdom of God, not because of how we perform or the boxes we check, but because we are in right-standing with the Lord. Identity precedes activity.

Anything that competes for the worthiness of the one true God is an idol. We serve a faithful God who loves us enough to strip away idols to bring us closer to Him.
In the book of Exodus, Israel was covered in idol worship. God sent a prophet, Elijah up to Mount Carmel to face the king of Israel and 850 prophets of false gods. When the Israelites called out to these idols, they were ultimately let down. Because that’s what idols do; they always lead to disappointment.
When God’s not giving you what you want, do you still trust Him?

Last week we asked the question, what are you doing with your one and only life? Often the comforts of this world have the ability to quiet God’s calling and lull us into spiritual sleep. When we take our eyes off the mission God calls us to in the great commission, we end up chasing pleasure instead of purpose. God has put eternity in our hearts so we would live for his glory.

God’s calling looks different for everyone, but we know God created each and every one of us for one purpose: to live out the great commission laid out in Matthew 28:19, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
The key question is this: what is your role in the great commission? How are you leveraging your time, talent, and treasures God has given you? Are you living your life on-mission where you are?

Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. – Romans 12:16
Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. – 1 Peter 3:8
Forgiveness of sin comes from Jesus alone, but often healing comes in the context of community.
Who are you praying for? Who do you have in your life that’s praying for you?
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. – James 5:16
More than any other, we are commanded to love one another as He has loved us. We can’t do this alone; Jesus invites us to abide in Him and He will abide in us. The more we abide in Jesus, the more fruit we bear that can pour out to love one another unconditionally, like Christ has loved us.
This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. – John 15:12
This week’s one another comes from Hebrews 10. May we always encourage one another and surround ourselves with those that continually point us to Jesus.

This week, Pastor Joby talks about the event in John 13 when Jesus washes the disciples’ feet. He washes the feet of those that would follow Him, betray Him and deny Him.
Many people find themselves in places of authority, not just at work, but at home as moms or dads. What do you do when you find yourself in a place of authority? What would it look like for you to “wash the feet” of those around you?
If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. – John 13:14

Jesus laid down His perfection and took from us our sin, not because we deserved it, but because He decided He was going to do it on our behalf. That’s what honor is.

In a world that tries to tear us apart, the gospel informs us that just as Christ welcomed us, we are to welcome one another for the glory of God.
Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. - Romans 15:7
One of the primary ways to love one another is to bear one another’s burdens. In this week’s devo, Pastor Joby talks about Mary, Martha and their brother, Lazarus. In John 11, we see how Jesus carries the burdens of his friends. Jesus knows Lazarus is going to die and He is going to bring Lazarus back to life, but he meets Mary and Martha where they are and bear their burden when they needed it most. He weeps with those who are weeping.
We’re called to bear one another’s burdens because Jesus bore our sin on the cross. As Jesus bears your burden, are you willing and able to bear one another’s burdens?
Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. – Galatians 6:2
The way we speak to one another matters. The way we speak to one another is not a reflection of the mouth, but a reflection of the heart.
Are you speaking life, or are you speaking death?
¹⁹ addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, ²⁰ giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, ²¹ submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ. – Ephesians 5:19-21
We can not simultaneously look down our nose on other people and fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfector of our faith.
²⁵ If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. ²⁶ Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. - Galatians 5:25-26
The most commanded one another is to love one another. You can't love one another if you lie to one another. There's plenty of reasons why we lie; maybe it's for the applause of man or maybe it's to keep parts of our lives in the dark. But Jesus died on the cross so we can live in light of the gospel and walk in the freedom Christ came to give us.
⁹ Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices ¹⁰ and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. - Colossians 3:9-10
Last week, Pastor Joby taught through exhorting one another, holding one another accountable and pointing back to the eternal well of living water only Christ can offer. There's a difference between exhorting and passing judgment. It's putting your own preferences and opinions aside and continuously pointing to the gospel.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. - Romans 8:1
We all get thirsty for the temporary things of this world that will never satisfy. Do you have people in your life to point you back to the eternal well of living water of Jesus Christ? Are you doing that to others?
But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. - Hebrews 3:13
Are you using the gifts God has given you?
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: - 1 Peter 4:10
We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Our salvation can’t be earned.
¹³ For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. ¹⁴ For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” ¹⁵ But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another. - Galatians 5:13-15
² with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, ³ eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. - Ephesians 4:2-3
Are you eager for division and point out what everyone else is doing wrong, or are you eager to maintain unity by showing grace?
Confession matters. When you're confessing your sins to one another, you're not confessing so that you may be forgiven, you're confessing that you HAVE BEEN forgiven.
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. - James 5:16
