Hello Researchers.! Welcome to the Episode #2 of the research guy podcast. Today with me, I have Shibasheesh Jaydev, Doctoral student at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. Shibhasheesh is NIT Trichy's alumni and gold medallist of the batch of 2018, and has been a constant guide for me for the past 3 years. In this episode, we'll discuss about Shibhasheesh's research on plastic valorization and its implications on waste minimization and energy recovery from waste resources. Further, we'll learn more about Careers in STEM in Europe, and viable options for students to pursue their MS, PHD or any other degree in Europe. At last, we will compare US and Europe on multiple parameters, and conclude the podcast with some light questions about Shibahsheesh's life and his goals. Today with me, I have Seshasayee Mahadevan, a chemical engineering doctoral student at Penn State University. He's my mentor and also alumni of NIT Trichy, India. Today, in the very first episode, we address the elephant in the room of energy and fuels, "Can biofuels and renewable energy entirely replace fossil fuels? What is the possibility of plastics being converted to usable fuels in the future?" We'll also discuss how Sesha, through his research on plastics, has addressed some of these key challenges in the energy sector.
