On today's 147th episode of The Thriller Zone, I could not be more stoked to welcome the legendary Hollywood Writer/Producer and New York Times Bestselling Author Lee Goldberg.

There are talented guys who aren't always nice. And there are nice guys who aren't always talented. Then you meet someone like Lee who is both super talented and couldn't be nicer.

Bonus? He has some of the best writing advice to offer our audience yet. Sure, some of it you've heard before. And yes, a couple of points make you say, "Well, of course." But I would challenge you to dig deep, do your homework, LISTEN to his advice, INCORPORATE it into your own mind and writing. Then sit back and watch your quality SOAR.

Lee and I chat about "The Hollywood Machine," especially as it pertains to the current WGA writer's strike, what makes Hollywood tick, where some of those people on the inside are out of their minds because they're missing the point, not to mention the fact that GREED still continues to run the machine of Hollywood.

Trust me, this is one of the very best and most insightful podcasts since this show's launch. It's well worth the investment of an hour and change. If you'd like to learn more visit: LeeGoldberg.com

Do me a favor, would you? Listen first. Or watch, too, on our YouTube.com/thethrillerzone channel. Then SHARE with a friend; especially if that friend is an up-and-coming writer, or an author who could use a "shot in the arm." You'll be glad you did.

Oh, and REMEMBER TO SUBSCRIBE to our YouTube Channel, JOIN US at our homebase of TheThrillerZone.com, and follow us on X/Twitter & Instagram @thethrillerzone. Thank you.

On this 145th episode of The Thriller Zone, I'm excited to be hanging out with yet another outstanding author of thriller fiction. Today, it's Taylor Moore, author of Ricochet.

If you haven't heard of Taylor before, it may be because this is only his third book; however, there's one thing I can guarantee: you'll be hearing a LOT more from this phenomenal writer.

Ricochet, the third in the Garrett Kohl Series, has everything you're looking for in a thriller: fast action, superb suspense, an intriguing premise, and a hero you can root for.

Taylor had this to say about his somewhat new career:

"I’m often asked how I ended up at the CIA, a question to which there are more than a few answers. But what I think people really want to know is what edged a regular guy like me out of the light and into the shadows of the intelligence world: a what makes you tick kind of thing. It’s a question I can answer in one single phrase—passion for adventure. This is the same passion that drew me to childhood heroes like Indiana Jones, James Bond, and Jack Ryan. This quest for adventure propelled me on a solo journey at the age of twenty-four through the jungles of Bolivia, over the Andes, and across the raging Drake Passage on a Russian icebreaker to Antarctica. And it’s the same passion I have now that spurs me to write thriller novels and action-adventure stories. We may grow up, but we don’t have to give in. No matter our age or what we do, a good passion for adventure never dies. And if you’re like me and you’re searching for the next one, then look no further. You’ve arrived."

Folks, you're in for a genuine treat, as Taylor introduces you (or reintroduces you) to a believable hero with smarts, and more than an ample amount of heart.

Want to learn more about Taylor and his world? Visit: TaylorMooreBooks.com

And speaking of his website, as you'll learn Taylor and I share the same fine web designer/developer in Authorbytes.com.

On today's 142nd episode of The Thriller Zone, we welcome the talented and oh-so-very-funny Edgar-winning author Erin Flanagan, author of Come With Me.

Don't let that outlandish & thoroughly engaging humor fool you, because this woman knows how to write, and engage, and thrill, page after page. Today, we discuss, besides her latest thriller, so many real-life situations.

I won't spoil the surprise, and instead ask that you kick back and enjoy. Trust me, it's one of the most engaging times this host has had so far in the new season.

YES, all my guests are engaging, and smart, and talented, and Erin shows us how determination and persistence (and using spreadsheets to calculate the time, distance and length of a book) proves incredibly insightful.

On today's 141st episode of The Thriller Zone, we welcome Brian Freeman, author of The Bourne Defiance, the latest in the Robert Ludlum award-winning Jason Bourne Series.

This is Brian's return to The TZ, and as always, we have a blast. Brian is upbeat, engaging and very personal. He's also one helluva thriller writer.

In fact, this could be my favorite Freeman/Bourne thriller yet, as I say when I tell Brian, "Fast action, complex storylines, and memorable characters; everything you hope for in a Jason Bourne thriller."

Listen as Brian and I discuss the world of thrillers, whether they are psychological, military, or action thrillers. Plus, we'll cover the entire "Freeman Universe" that includes these series: Jason Bourne, Frost Eastman, Jonathan Stride, and Cab Bolton.

This doesn't even include his outstanding stand-alone novels that audiences have enjoyed in 46 countries and in 23 languages.

Lastly, Brian and I joke that his "best piece of writing advice" is exactly the same as it was when he visited The Thriller Zone in 2022, nearly a year to the week.

One Note: As you see, I'm not in the studio where I ordinarily broadcast, but that's because we are in the middle of a major move: our home and our studios are moving a few towns south of us, and closer to San Diego proper.

One thing remains the same: The Thriller Zone has a FULL SUMMER of the Best Thriller Writers In The World!

Learn more about Brian at BFreemanbooks.com and follow him on Twitter at the same handle.

As always, you can LISTEN/WATCH/SUBSCRIBE at TheThrillerZone.com and wherever you enjoy your podcasts.

Stay tuned, as we promise to introduce you to our New Thriller Zone Studios in the coming weeks!

On today's 140th episode of The Thriller Zone, I'm pleased to introduce you to debut author Bruce Borgos. His book, The Bitter Past, is a superb read, and adept given it's his first traditionally published thriller novel.

In the tradition of Craig Johnson and C. J. Box, Bruce Borgos's The Bitter Past begins a compelling series set in the high desert of Nevada featuring Sheriff Porter Beck. Here's an excerpt that shares the mind of this terrific writer.

Porter Beck has worked in the shadows before – in another life when he could still see in the dark. But the Nevada sheriff is battling night blindness now and searching for a Russian assassin who’s killing old men in the high desert north of Las Vegas.

When an ex-FBI agent is tortured and killed, Beck is mystified, not by the gruesome scene in his normally quiet county but by the clues that point to the dawn of America’s atomic age and a secret test to see what would happen if deadly plutonium was “accidentally” released in the environment. To catch the killer, he must first find the KGB spy who came to steal America’s atomic secrets sixty years earlier, who now lives closer than he could know, and unravel the truth about the world’s first dirty bomb, two things the U.S. Government cannot afford to have revealed. As the body count climbs, so do the stakes for him and those he loves, especially when an alluring federal agent makes it impossible to know who to trust.

Craig Johnson, author & creator of Longmire, calls Borgos's talents, "A crisp jolt of cask-strength, 100-proof."

Author and friend of the podcast, Nick Petrie calls Bitter Past, "A gripping tale with vivid characters at a breakneck pace."

Kick back and enjoy an unforgettable and highly entertaining podcast with newcomer, Bruce Borgos (rhymes with gorgeous); he's a talent I feel certain we'll be reading and following for years to come!

Now that we're in Season Five of The Thriller Zone, it's good to see Summer, it's good to meet new authors, and it's always good to read entertaining books.

On today's 139th episode, we welcome Scott Von Doviak, author of Lowdown Road.

Join a heart-racing road trip across 1970s America as two cousins make the heist of their lives and must avoid the cops and criminals hot on their tails.

It’s the summer of ’74…Richard Nixon has resigned from office, CB radios are the hot new thing, and in the great state of Texas two cousins hatch a plan to drive $1 million worth of stolen weed to Idaho, where some lunatic is gearing up to jump Snake River Canyon on a rocket-powered motorcycle. But with a vengeful sheriff on their tail and the revered and feared marijuana kingpin of Central Texas out to get his stash back, Chuck and Dean are in for the ride of their lives – if they can make it out alive…

Scott Von Doviak, longtime pop-culture journalist for The A.V. Club, Film Threat, The Hollywood Reporter, and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, made a splash with his debut novel, CHARLESGATE CONFIDENTIAL, which Stephen King called “terrific” and “a fun machine…the white-knuckle kind.”

With LOWDOWN ROAD, he cements his reputation for pedal-to-the-metal storytelling that also makes you think about just who we are and where our darker roads might lead us.

On today's 138th episode of The Thriller Zone, now in our FIFTH SEASON, we welcome the smart, engaging, and incredibly talented New York Times Bestselling Author, Rachel Howzell Hall.

Rachel joins me today to discuss her latest thriller WHAT NEVER HAPPENED.

It’s murder in paradise as a woman uncovers a host of secrets off the rocky California coast in a gripping novel of suspense by New York Times and Wall Street Journal-bestselling author Rachel Howzell Hall.

Colette “Coco” Weber has moved to her Catalina Island home, where, twenty years before, she was the sole survivor of a deadly home invasion. All Coco wants is to see her aunt Gwen, get as far away from her ex as possible, and get back to her craft—writing obituaries. Thankfully, her college best friend, Maddy, owns the local paper and has a job sure to keep Coco busy, considering the number of elderly folks who are dying on the island.

But as Coco learns more about these deaths, she quickly realizes that the circumstances of them are remarkably similar…and not natural. Then Coco receives a sinister threat in the mail: her own obituary.

As Coco draws connections between a serial killer’s crimes and her own family tragedy, she fears that the secrets on Catalina Island might be too deep to survive. Because whoever is watching her is hell-bent on finally putting her past to rest.

Rachel has a certifiable hit on her hands, and as you read, you'll quickly see just how she skyrocketed to the top of her genre, making her a New York Times bestselling author.

On today's show we discuss a multitude of issues: race, respect, honoring family, and of course, we have to inject some humor from time to time; just wait until you hear about one of our favorite snacks!

On today's 108th episode of the world famous Thriller Zone, we welcome horror thriller writer Philip Fracassi, with his new epic-sized thriller called A Child Alone With Strangers.

I say epic because it clocks in just shy of 600 white-knuckler pages. And if you're not familiar with PF, like I wasn't, then you're in for a real treat.

Think: Stephen King, but slightly different. Okay, there are other comparisons, but that's the one that gets to the point quickly.

Our conversation is vivid, and switches channels constantly between writing style and technique, to influences we've had, as well as a wide swath of literary magazines and groups with whom Philip has worked.

All in all, it's the perfect way to KICK OFF OUR HORROR THRILLER ADDITION to The Thriller Zone.

On today's Surprise Spontaneous On-Location 106th Episode of The Thriller Zone, my guest is Matt Coyle. Matt's latest Rick Cahill Thriller, Doomed Legacy, is available now.

I spoke with Matt on location at Warwick's Bookstore in La Jolla, CA, just moments before we went on stage to present to the audience his latest masterpiece.

As I said, the moment was spontaneous, the episode is shorter than most, but it was an experiment of sorts to see how interviewing and producing on the fly, but "not exactly live" would work.

Fortunately, my sponsor, Warwick's Bookstore, was super helpful and excited to play along, as evidence by the on-the-fly sponsorship placement by the lovely and talented Julie Slavinsky, Events Coordinator for Warwick's, both in store and online.

On today's 105th Episode of The Thriller Zone we welcome the legendary author and screenwriter, Robert Crais.

His latest Elvis Cole & Joe Pike thriller is "Racing The Light," and it promises to jump off the shelves, as it packs all the regular punches that fans of Crais have come to admire.

This is my first sit-down with Bob, but it was even more enjoyable than I could have imagined, as he offers so many Hollywood insights you can't find most anyplace else.

If you like fast moving pages, full of witty and punchy dialogue, from characters you instantly love, then you're going to race through this thriller...perhaps as quickly as I did.

Today, we celebrate an epic milestone, as we launch our 100th Episode of The Thriller Zone. Woo-Hoo! Yeah, we're stoked! Who better to help celebrate the "Mighty 100" but the co-author of one of the most iconic thriller franchises in the world: Jack Reacher. Yes, Andrew Child and brother Lee Child have penned yet another page-turning thriller in NO PLAN B. On today's show, we dig deep on what makes this franchise the success it is. We also learn, thanks to the free-flowing thoughts of Andrew, some of the best advice I've heard since I began this podcast. Perhaps it's because I'm not that crazy about following rules, or the fact how I've often forged my own path, but when I heard "Ignore the rules," I knew I had a friend in Andrew Child. Andrew, who also writes under his given name of Andrew Grant, peels back the layers on the publishing business, what it takes to create a winning franchise, what it's like to write with his older brother, Lee, and so much more. If you enjoy (a) page-turning thrillers, from (b) authors who know how to craft stories that waste no time getting to the point, and (c) enjoy hearing the "inside scoop" on the writing business (and finding one's personal motivation), then You Are In For A Treat! On today's 98th episode of The Thriller Zone, we welcome New York Times Bestselling Author, Riley Sager. Riley is the mastermind behind The House Across The Lake, a thriller with "A Hitchcockian premise that is given an exciting new spin," according to NYT Bestselling author, Alex Michaelides, author of The Silent Patient. On today's show, Riley and I dig deep into what makes a thriller such a page-turner, and--without giving away any secrets--discuss some of the tricks to crafting a novel people will talk about for months after its release. I met Riley at Thrillerfest in New York, where I heard him speak on a panel of authors. He gave solid advice to that crowd, and he shares even more solid advice on today's podcast. My favorite moment comes when Riley shares the nearly fantastical and thoroughly random story of how Stephen King came to read this book, and turn around to write a blurb that Riley says, "literally changed my life overnight." If you enjoy wildly-engaging thrillers with multiple viewpoints, simultaneous timelines, and topics ripped from today's headlines, you'll devour Todd's newest thriller, The Flock. On today's 96th Episode of The Thriller Zone, I'm 101% jazzed to welcome THE Adam Hamdy, author of many epic thrillers, and the very latest The Other Side of Night. In this show, Adam and I of course chat about the book, we refer to some of his other books, much different than this one, but we also veer off the beaten path. Several times. And for me? Those "off the beaten path" moments are among my very favorite. Why? Because it's "real conversation" from two "dudes" who greatly admire one another and enjoy a good chat. Adam also took this show a step further for me. How? He introduced me to not one, or two, but THREE other authors, none of whom I'd ever heard of before. They are: Anthony Horowitz, author of kids books, adult books, graphic novels and more. Link: https://anthonyhorowitz.com And yes, we're hoping to get him on TheThrillerZone Podcast. Rudolph "Rudy "Vrba, who wrote, "I Escaped from Auschwitz." Link: https://tinyurl.com/RudyVrbaBook Dean Buonomano, author of "Your Brain is a Time Machine." Link: https://tinyurl.com/BrainTimeMachine

Thank you, Adam. I've purchased two of the three, and have the third coming to my library soon. There's more to unbox in this show, as Adam and I travel down the paths of several obscure topics, from our favorite vintage t-shirts, and why dudes like us enjoy buying several copies of a shirt we particularly adore. We chat at length about his new home in Maritius, which is an African island in the Indian Ocean, about as far away from "standard civilization" as one can get. But that's grand, isn't it? Not to mention WAY cheaper to live. Learn more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauritius There's SO much solid, in-depth conversation that I implore you to lend your ears to the slightly-over-an-hour show. It's worth the time. Today's special guest on the 91st Episode of The Thriller Zone is none other than New York Times Bestselling Author Faye Kellerman, the mastermind behind nearly three dozen bestselling thriller novels. With oodles of hits, over a span of several decades, Faye Kellerman has become synonymous with page-turning, character-driven, plot-twisting novels that keep avid fans reading deep into the night. On today's show, we discuss: having a prolific husband as a NYT Bestselling author, two children, both of whom have created a nice career for themselves with storytelling, and what it's like being empty-nesters. Faye offers splendid advice for would-be writers, with a few pointers who may have heard before, but the way she shares, you say to yourself, "Of course, that's it!" Join the show, and while today's sound quality will require just an extra bit of patience, try and listen through it to...The Good Stuff. Today's 89th Episode of The Thriller Zone welcomes New York Times Bestselling Author, David Ellis. As though that superlative title isn't enough, David is also an Edgar-Award Winner. This podcast will go down in my books as one of my favorites. Why? Call it the sharing of similar interests, two guys enjoying chatting about their favorite things, like Chicago, football, good old-fashioned terrestrial radio, and of course, our mutual appreciation for really good books. David has written a whopper of a page-turner. I'm not kidding. I think I read this book (which reaches nearly 500 pages) in about two days; it's THAT good. Hey, I'll stop typing, so you can stop reading, and instead start LISTENING to the podcast...or WATCHING on our YouTube Channel. But trust me when I say, you will most definitely be running to your local bookstore (please?), or visiting your local library (another superb idea), or more than likely ordering from Amazon. As I mention in the show, I have a Top 10 Fave Reads for Summer '22; however, I'm likely going to extend that to 13...because there are just so many good reads this year. When it comes time to learn more about David, which I might add includes co-writing with the legendary talent James Patterson, you can learn of his other books, one of which is a series, and do so by visiting: DavidEllis.com (a fellow AuthorBytes.com alum, I might add). On today's 88th Episode of The Thriller Zone, we welcome Halley Sutton, a relative newcomer to the thriller zone; although you'd never know it by her thriller, The Lady Upstairs. The reason I say that is because this "freshman debut" is anything but naive. Instead, it's rich, propulsive, and so Chandler-esque, I dare you to put it down. Halley lives and writes in Los Angeles, and has such a solid sense of what works that it's easy to see how she'll be one of those writers we'll be hearing from for a long time. On today's 86th episode of The Thriller Zone, I'm stoked to welcome national bestselling author Nick Petrie to the show. His runaway hit, The Runaway (sorry, I couldn't help myself) is one of those rare books you just have a hard time putting down. Seriously, I devoured it in record time. The only bad thing? I didn't want it to end. Nick is an accomplished writer of the Peter Ash Series, someone who Lee Child has said, "Lots of characters get compared to my own Jack Reacher, but Peter Ash is the real deal." Some mighty high praise coming from the legendary Lee Child. Join us as Nick shares the journey of The Runaway, but it's his deep insights as to what it takes to become a number one bestseller that both impressed me, and will surely leave you thinking. On today's special "squeeze-in bonus episode," it's my pleasure to welcome Shanti Hershenson to The Thriller Zone. Shanti, besides being the youngest author to grace The TZ airwaves, is quite likely one of the most prolific writers I've met...especially when you consider she's only 14. Not only that, she's been writing since she was 6! If you're a fan of Sci-Fi and Fantasy, and enjoy hearing from new & up-and-coming authors, AND you enjoy supporting new talent who is excited about their craft, then you're going to love getting to know Shanti and learning of her novel, NEVERDYING. On today's Bonus Episode of The Thriller Zone, Kelly J. Ford visits to talk about her latest Southern Noir Thriller, Read Bad Things. Since we're both from the South, her from Arkansas and me from North Carolina, we instantly slipped into a comfortable spot behind the mic.

What I like best about Kelly is what you see is what you get. I've always been drawn to people who are real and don't put on airs. She's the real deal, and I have a very solid feeling that she'll do just fine in this writing world.

Listen to about halfway through, as she allows me to read the opening of her book. It's beautiful, poetic, and although somber, has real visceral feelings inside.

Then, along about 3/4 of the way in, we start talking about her influences. And there are many. We also cover her best writing advice; again, something any aspiring writer should hear.

In the end, it feels like we'd known one another for decades. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if one day we'll gather around a campfire, along with a few bottles of wine (or a handful of gummies), and tell some tall tales.

Take an hour, kick your shoes off, and rest a spell, while you listen to two new friends have a bit of fun chatting. To learn more about Kelly, visit: https://KellyJFord.com (KellyJFord.com) and follow her on Twitter @Kelly_J_Ford

What can I say about a gal who is one of the best thriller writers in the world today? I'll tell you: She's done it again. Topped herself, that is. On today's 84th Episode of The Thriller Zone, Meg Gardiner has teamed up with the legendary filmmaker Michael Mann to craft an epic saga that is part prequel, part sequel, and incorporates references to the original Heat, making it one helluva second effort, while standing strong as a stand-alone. You no doubt know Mann's work in Blackhat, Miami Vice, Collateral, Ali, The Insider, HEAT, The Last of the Mohicans, and Thief, to name a few. Meg and I met a few years ago when she was signing books at Warwick's bookstore in La Jolla. She appeared with Don Winslow. I saw her again at Thrillerfest 2019, and along the way, she's appeared on both of my podcasts, The Thriller Zone, and the former Naked Monday. Each time she sits down behind the microphone with me, I sit in wonder at the depth of her amazing talent. And I should mention that I first discovered he work by reading her Caitlin Hendricks UNSUB series, but soon went back and read much of her earlier work. Suffice it to say that if you love page-turning thrillers that educate and enlighten, while scaring the crap out of you, you MUST read Meg Gardiner. On today's show we discuss a good many things: her home fire, her UNSUB Series, writing conferences and more. She shares terrific insights through her writing advice, and we share more than several good laughs. I hope you enjoy the show today; it's soon to be a favorite. Furthermore, I trust you'll read HEAT 2, a truly electrifying novel that'll keep you glued to your seat...or in my case, to my hammock (a favorite reading spot). On today's 83rd Episode of The Thriller Zone, special debut author Eli Cranor stops by to chew the fat about his debut runaway hit, "Don't Know Tough." From one Southern boy to another, this dude gets it right, on so many levels. The feeling of the deep south, the characters who play in that world, and a heart-wrenching story about the not-so-small world of high school football in a small southern town. As author Ace Atkins says, "Eli knows the underbelly of Friday night lights in this stunning debut that bleeds authenticity and raw emotion." Eli has walked the walk, by both playing and coaching football, and even today, teaches high-schoolers what it means to live and learn and win in life. I think you'll appreciate the laidback demeanor of my guest, and the insights he brings as a debut author to the world of publishing. You'll also get an "inside peek" into his "special writing space," how he entertains his kids (and pets), and just how much he loves the craft of storytelling. Sarah also has terrific answers to my #RapidFireQuestions, which you've learned by now, aren't all that rapid, but are always a lot of fun, as they force the guest to think fast on their feet. I think this is part of the show that Sarah really enjoyed.

Today, marks a milestone in the history of this podcast; actually, it's two fold. First, I'm proud to introduce you to Year #2, aka Season 3, and Episode #78 of The Thriller Zone. Second, I am honored to welcome one of the genuine legends in the literary world, Mr. Dean Koontz. I, like you, have been following him for decades, and have been amazed at his prolific output of one terrific suspense thriller after another. For nearly 6 decades, Dean has been crafting suspense novels that incorporate horror, fantasy, science fiction, and mystery, making him one of the most well-known, most prolific, and most highly regarded writers of this generation. And the amazing thing? At 77, he shows absolutely no signs of slowing down. In fact, with a work ethic that plants him in a chair and behind a keyboard for 8 to 10 hours a day, six, and often seven days a week, Koontz is the quintessential example of the "hardest working writer" today. This podcast not only marks our Second Year on the charts, but this episode marks one of the highlights of my interviewing career. And as you'll see in the show, I find myself "geeking out" just a little bit. But then, having admired his body of work from afar for as long as I've been alive, it's not a hard thing to imagine. Please join me as we talk about Dean's "Magic Sauce" to crafting thrillers; listen as he shares stories that date back decades ago, to a time when writing thrillers was just beginning to gain particular traction; and take away some sage advice from a master who has spent his entire career perfecting his craft. As he says early on, he was suffering a bit of laryngitis, so it may be a wee bit hard to hear him from time to time, but trust me when I say I've done pretty much everything in my power to craft and tweak the audio to the best of my ability. Special thanks to: Auphonics.com for their assistance. Don't forget to stay until the end. Why? You get a chance to WIN a FREE copy of his latest thriller: The Big Dark Sky. Just follow the three easy steps, and we'll announce the winner shortly. Unless you've been lost in a cave, or sleeping under a rock for the past decade, I'm sure you know the name Brad Thor. Brad is one of the more prolific authors of our time, and the creator of the Scot Harvath Series. Some have called him, "The Undisputed King of the Genre," (Real Book Spy), while others have said this of his many books: "UN-Freaking-Believable," (The Crew Reviews), then there's, "An Amazing Thriller" says Fred Burton, and "Rising Tiger is ripped from tomorrow's headlines," says Wharton Journal Spectator. Yes, I could go on for much longer, but instead, I'll simply say, "I have found Brad to be a thoughtful, engaging, gracious and masterful storyteller of the highest caliber. If someone offered a Master Class in writing military-inspired politically-charged ripped-from-headlines thrillers and the professor was Brad Thor, well, you couldn't take my money fast enough." On today's 76th Episode, and the "Official Launch of Season Three of The Thriller Zone," I'm thrilled to welcome a guy who knows more than a thing or three about writing white-knuckle thrillers. And he's been doing it for several decades now. With more than two dozen thrillers under his (very expensive and handsomely tailored exotic leather) belt, Brad shows no signs of slowing down. And his latest page-turner, RISING TIGER, is one of his very best. His protagonist, and deadly operative Scot Harvath, faces down the country's most powerful enemy. Or as the jacket reads, "With democracy itself hanging in the balance, Harvath will risk everything to untangle the explosive plot and bring every bad actor to justice." Join Brad and I as we talk about the hard work that it takes to make a propulsive thriller like Rising Tiger, learn Brad's "Secret Sauce for Success," as well as enjoy some light-hearted moments like his "Library/Lounge Office", his love of "Guy Toys," as well as our mutual love of antique typewriters, and so much more. This podcast (and Vodcast on YouTube) promises to land in my "Top 10 Thriller Zone Episodes of the Year," and you'll soon see why. On today's 71st episode of TheThrillerZone, I'm honored to welcome back the multi-talented author of not only the Tom Clancy thriller #ZeroHour, but the #MattDrakeSeries of thrillers: Don Bentley. Yes, Don joins The TZ for a healthy round of information dispersal, intriguing conversation about the military, epic thrillers, the Tom Clancy legacy, his masterful editor Tom Colgan, and so much more. Sure, we cover his Matt Drake Series, which includes: #WithoutSanction, #TheOutsideMan, and #HostileIntent, but we also drill into his Tom Clancy thrillers, #TargetAcquired and his latest, #ZeroHour. We also talk writing tools, ball-caps vs. Stetsons, Cowboy boots, ribs 'n beer, guns 'n knives, helicopters and vacation spots. That's right, you can't get this sort of entertainment just ANYwhere! Don also sheds some healthy insights and pearls of wisdom about what it takes to make it as a successful writer today. "You have to know and respect the business," Don says. "Because if you don't give the audience what they want, you'll have a tough time selling your books." When Don quotes the world-famous Stephen King, and shares King's take on "the blue collar part and the magic part" of successful writing, well I, along with most all my friends whom are writers, perked up and listened to the promo on Twitter that provided a sneak peek into what was to come on today's show. Bentley was premiered on my show last August ('21), and I'm thrilled to have him back. Side note, THIS Don Bentley has seasoned and grown wiser with age (and page count), and I for one just lapped up his words-of-wisdom; as I'm sure you will too. Kick back and enjoy our talk about #ThrillerFest and the magic of #writingcommunity and attending #writingconferences, as well as practices you can incorporate into your work every day. Lastly, we do our fair amount of name dropping; not to impress you, but to simply share some of the insights of those whom have led the way. They include: Mark Greaney, Nick Petrie, Don Winslow, Brad Taylor, Andrews & Wilson, Chris Hauty, Eric Bishop & Steve Stratton, to name a few. If you'd like to dig deeper, and perhaps pick up one (or more) of Don's books, go to: https://DonBentleyBooks.com (DonBentleyBooks.com), and be sure to FOLLOW him on both Twitter & Facebook @bentleydonb. On today's 70th Episode of The Thriller Zone, I'm happy to introduce you to debut author, Joey Hartstone. If you recognize his name, it may be because he is the screenwriter to the films: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4778988/?ref_=nm_knf_i4 (LBJ) and https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5540992/?ref_=nm_knf_i2 (Shock & Awe), both starring https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000437/?ref_=tt_cl_t_1 (Woody Harrelson), and directed by https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001661/?ref_=tt_ov_dr (Rob Reiner). And if you're as big a geek as I am, who loves to discover the writers behind hit TV Series, then you may know him from https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5853176/?ref_=nm_ov_bio_lk1 (The Good Fight) (2017), and https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7440726/?ref_=nm_ov_bio_lk3 (Your Honor) (2020). On this month's "Discovering New Authors," I'm stoked to sit down and chat both screenwriting and novel writing, and given this is Joey's first foray into thriller novel writing, I'm especially excited to see what he's learned so far, as well as is excited to see ahead. Besides talking craft, there are more than a few names dropped on today's show; sure, like Woody Harrelson and Rob Reiner, but also other writers we both admire and are following. They include: https://markgreaneybooks.com/ (Mark Greaney), https://donbentleybooks.com/ (Don Bentley), http://www.ericpbishop.com/ (Eric Bishop), https://www.chrishauty.com/ (Chris Hauty), https://www.donwinslow.com/ (Don Winslow), https://www.deankoontz.com/ (Dean Koontz) and http://meggardiner.com/ (Meg Gardiner). It's always cool to meet people "on their way up," and while Joey is already well up the successful screenwriting ladder, this book will surely help catapult him into the arena of John Grisham lovers. The Local goes on sale tomorrow (6.14), and I encourage you to pick up a copy. Today's guest is none other than the multi-talented and award-winning #1 New York Times bestselling author of several thrillers, PLUS one of the nicest dudes walking the planet: Mark Greaney! He's written SEVEN Tom Clancy thrillers, ELEVEN Gray Man Novels...coming soon to https://Netflix.com (Netflix) and starring https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0331516/ (Ryan Gosling), one stand-alone, and has more recently turned one of his attempts at screenplay writing into, not only an audiobook, but "reverse-engineered" that same property into what will most certainly become ANOTHER best-seller called ARMORED. Mark joins me today to talk about a bevy of bodacious books in a brilliant career of behemoth adventures. And one of my favorite things about Mark is his level-headed approach to the BUSINESS of writing-which you'll enjoy in this show, but also the kindness with which he approaches each and every podcast. Yes, Mark's been on my show before, but as you'll see and hear again today, he shares the same enthusiasm for his craft, each time he tells a story, as though it's the very first time. Take the hour to listen to this podcast, despite the less-than-ordinarily-spectacular audio, and enjoy hearing about a career that, while is still rather young, shows NO signs of slowing down. To learn more about my friend Mark, visit his website at: https://MarkGreaneyBooks.com (MarkGreaneyBooks.com). May Cobb was my Guest #1 on The Thriller Zone, when we launched in mid-June of last year ('21). The book she was promoting at the time was The Hunting Wives, a sultry and intoxicating thriller. https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/622762/my-summer-darlings-by-may-cobb/ (My Summer Darlings) is another summertime scorcher, where the temps, like the libidos of three suburban gals, rise to a crescendo amidst the backdrop of suburban Texas. On today's 66th Episode, we discuss a good many things, including the launch of her Texas-wide Book Tour, we dissect the "Multi-POV" of her thriller, as well as discuss her thoughts on "Pantsing vs. Plotting" - a reference to an author who "writes by the seat of their pants, or one that plots the beats into an extensive outline for a more cohesive structure." Later in the show, May discusses sex, romance, sex, adultery, and oh, sex. On a more serious note, we discuss her thoughts on "higher education," and whether or not it's needed. We touch on a mutually favorite book by Stephen King called "https://www.amazon.com/Writing-Memoir-Craft-Stephen-King/dp/1982159375/ref=sr_1_1?crid=34U7XW4NRHRFW&keywords=stephen+king+on+writing&qid=1652822495&sprefix=stephen+kin+on+%2Caps%2C160&sr=8-1 (On Writing)," a book many readers and writers in our audience have either read, or certainly have placed in their TBR stack. It's certainly in my Top 20 favorite (non-fiction) books of all time. Perhaps one of my favorite moments comes when May shares her best piece of advice for would-be writers. "Writing in the stolen moments" is a terrific encouragement to those who think they need hours upon hours (in a non-stop fashion) in order to achieve a completed manuscript. I think it's safe to say one of May's favorite moments comes when she imagines what her "antagonist" Will Harding would look like; that is, if she were to have a hand in casting him for the potentially upcoming television series (hey, a girl can dream, can't she?). Hint: Alexander Skarsgård. Please make some time to get to know May if you don't already, and of course, please consider picking up a copy of My Summer Darlings, for a sizzlin' summertime read. To learn more about May visit: https://MayCobb.com (MayCobb.com), and follow her on Twitter @mayKcobb, or Instagram @may_cobb. And as always, we hope you'll LIKE & SUBSCRIBE to Channel at: https://YouTube.com/TheThrillerZone (YouTube.com/TheThrillerZone), and VISIT our website https://TheThrillerZone.com (TheThrillerZone.com). There, you can drop us a note, leave us a review, or take your time to leisurely enjoy the 65 prior episodes of this "nearly one-year-old podcast." Happy Nearly Anniversary to us! On today's 65th Episode of The Thriller Zone, I'm thrilled to welcome, for a return visit, the beautiful, talented and inspiring Tori Eldridge, author of Dance Among The Flames. This book is where thriller, horror, mysticism and even a dash of romance comes to play. Trust me when I say, there's a little something for everyone in this latest thriller from the House of Eldridge. As you'll soon hear, Tori offers terrific insights on the world of writing, and the importance of "building community" within the community of writers. Those insights include joining writer's groups, attending conferences, getting involved with civic groups in your neighborhood, and joining any of the vast number of writer's clubs offered around the world. We also discuss and remind those thriller writers whom are interested to be sure to register for Thrillerfest XVII in New York City, May 31 to June 4th. Other highlights in this show include my singing Happy Birthday to Lady Tori...which was on Monday...as well as enjoying her answers in our Rapid Fire Questions segment. When you meet Josh, aka @joshuahoodbooks, you don't initially know if he's angry, super-focused, or thinking about something else. Then, as you unwrap the conversation, you'll see he's a thoughtful, introspective, and guy who has a mad talent to write. On Episode #64 of The Thriller Zone, I'm happy to spend a bit over an hour speaking with this driven, opinionated, and (again) talented young man. He's served his country in the 82nd Airborne, as a sniper team leader on a SWAT Team in Memphis, he's been awarded the lifesaving medal for an act of heroism in the face of danger, and when he's not doing all that...he's tending to his young son Jake, and daughter Marlow. Do me a favor; heck, do us both a favor, and carve out an hour to hear Josh's thoughts on what it takes to craft a successful writing career, and what it was like to be offered the job of writing a Robert Ludlum book, carrying on the legacy of one of the greatest thriller writers in the world. But most impressive? Could be the discussions on his observations on the mind's ability to adapt to change, the topic of "neuroplasticity," what he reads in his spare time (when not writing thrillers), and what his protagonist ADAM HAYES is doing in his latest thriller, THE TREADSTONE TRANSGRESSION...as well as what he's got up his "tatted sleeves" next! For more info on Josh, visit: https://JoshuaHoodBooks.com (JoshuaHoodBooks.com) and follow him on Twitter @joshuahoodbooks. On today's 63rd Episode of The Thriller Zone, I welcome Peter Farris, author of THE DEVIL HIMSELF. Rolling Stone calls the book, "A radical Southern noir set to an infernal flame." William Boyle, author of Shoot the Moonlight Out says, "Learn for yourself what French readers have known for a while now: Peter Farris is a master of hard-nosed Southern noir…”  Having finished Peter's book this weekend, I can tell you it’s a dark tale of revenge and redemption that’ll have you revisiting the characters for days. On the show, Peter and I discuss turkey calling—he even gives me an impromptu demonstration—as well as discuss literary vs contemporary genre fiction, about how having perspective is important, and you’ll either love or hate his thoughts on the business of publishing, and the state of the writing scene.  To learn more, visit: http://PeterFarris.com (PeterFarris.com) or follow him on Twitter @authorPJFarris As always, THANK YOU for listening to my podcast. Episode #59 brings to The Thriller Zone one of the most fun (in the South, we call it "funnest") shows to date. Today, we welcome Scott Blackburn and his debut thriller IT DIES WITH YOU, a story about a washed up boxer who returns to his hometown to take a gig as a bouncer at a dive bar. That's when life delivers him another hook to the jaw: his estranged father, Leland, has been murdered in what appears to be a robbery gone bad at his salvage yard, Miller's Pull-A-Part. It's a searing literary debut that explores the dangerous world of secrets threatening to upend a rural Southern town, and is a read perfect for fans of David Joy and Brian Panowich, who says..."Blackburn writes with the same ferocity as Hammett and James M. Cain." As for this podcast host? I say it's, "Damn good writing." Moreover, I enjoyed the hell out of our time together. Join me and Scott as we talk: writing, querying agents, goal setting, and even babies'n diapers. But mostly, it's the chat about collard greens, fried chicken, Kernersville BBQ, and Cheerwine that brings memories of my childhood flooding back with reckless abandon. As you're sure to hear, my Southern roots return as my childhood accent gets uncovered (dang all those years in radio that squelched my drawl). It's a buncha fun you don't wanna miss! To learn more, visit: https://ScottBlackburnWords.com (ScottBlackburnWords.com), and follow him on Twitter @scottMblackburn. And as always, please follow us on Twitter & Instagram @thethrillerzone, listen to us wherever you podcast, and on https://TheThrillerZone.com (TheThrillerZone.com) Mentioned in this episode: Sponsored in part by AuthorBytes.com If you're looking for a Website Developer/Host, look no further than AuthorBytes.com.

On today's 57th Episode of The Thriller Zone, I welcome special guest host, Kristen Tsetsi, author, entrepreneur and pet lover. In today's show, we basically turn the tables, and have Kris ask the questions. For many, our special guest today needs no introduction. He's an International Bestseller, and he's a New York Times Bestselling Author, several times over. He has FIVE different series of books, to include: The Lincoln Rhymes Series, The Colter Shaw Series, The Kathryn Dance Series, The Rune Series, and The John Pellam Series. Yes, today's guest is the one and only, Jeffery Deaver. As you'll soon hear, I'm pretty geeked out to have Jeffery on the show. Why? Because I, probably like you, are a huge fan. Not only does he have 45 books to his credit, but he has films--recall The Bone Collector starring Denzel Washington & Angelina Jolie? Plus, there's television shows in the making. When you have the chance to learn from one of the most prolific authors working today, I can't imagine your not wanting to listen, and perhaps even to take notes. After all, spending time with Jeff is like taking a crash course in thriller writing. There's a LOT to cover in this nearly 2 hour episode, so I'll stop writing and get to listening. Thank you for joining us on today's 51st Episode of The Thriller Zone. On today’s 48th episode of The Thriller Zone, it’s my distinct honor to welcome Stephen Hunter who is not only a New York Times Bestselling author, but a Pulitzer Prize Winner—which we’ll discuss inside the show. And if you’ve ever heard or read about Bob Lee Swagger, then you likely know these books: Point of Impact—the one that started it all and became the film Shooter Black Light Time to Hunt The 47th Samurai Night of Thunder I, Sniper Dead Zero The Third Bullet Sniper’s Honor G-Man Game of Snipers And his latest, Targeted

Stephen also has 3 Earl Swagger books, 2 Ray Cruz books, EIGHT Standalone novels, and 3 Non-Fiction Books—two of which are a complication of essays on movies. And given his Pulitzer Prize was for Criticism, it’s easy to see why the books are so good. The last thing I’ll mention is that Stephen gives my listeners and viewers his succinct and powerful “6 Key Words For Creating A Successful Writing Career.” Stephen's pretty old school, so don't spend much time searching him out on a website or social media. Instead, just go to one of your favorite places you buy books and pick up a few. Trust me, you'll be hooked. To subscribe to our newsletter, leave a review, or just drop a note to say hi, go to: TheThrillerZone.com If you haven't yet, please SUBSCRIBE to our YouTube channel; that way you can stay up to date whenever new guests visit the show. And finally, if you'd like to leave a Review (5-stars are perfectly acceptable ;-) then please do so on ApplePodcasts, Spotify, or wherever you enjoy your podcasts.

Mark Greaney is a prolific author I've followed for years. And you'll soon see why. Today, we will discuss his latest thriller surrounding the ever-popular hero known as "The Gray Man." On today’s 38th Episode of The Thriller Zone, I welcome Special Guest Tammy Temple to co-host the show with me. Tammy is the Estate Manager for N4FL Worldwide, and one-half of The Dave & Tammy Tour Podcast (currently on hiatus but rumored to return in '22).  Tammy joins the podcast to discuss The Thriller Zone's Top Thriller TV Series, Movies, and of course, Books of 2021. Some of them you’ll expect, some you may not.  As for TV Series, there were some doozies. And books? By the end of the show, you’ll gain insights as to the “Movers & Shakers” we’ve come to admire, as well as the people we’re keeping our eyes whom we think will make significant strides in the New Year. Special notes: We share a fondness for the Robert DeNiro/Al Pacino film, HEAT, and reference one of our favorite scenes. If you'd like to watch it, go https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQNBg6I29gI (here). Chris' favorite authors include: Jonathan Franzen and Cormac McCarthy. He's interested in reading about Ulysses S. Grant, dining with Abe Lincoln (along with me and my wife), and envisions long stretches of time scooting around on his Triumph bike on a quiet Greek Island, reading Louis-Ferdinand Celine, while listening to Miles Davis. Today's guest on The Thriller Zone is thriller writer, PJ Vernon. His latest book, BATH HAUS, is a taught, nerve-wracking thriller, that will have you wondering WTH right up to nearly the end.  While it is gay-themed (as a bit of a warning), it's a terrific story, and is chock full of everything you want in a thriller: mystery, intrigue, murder, tension, sex, and nasty, yet always alluring, characters. This is the second novel from this relatively new writer, but you can be certain you'll be hearing much more from him. As you'll quickly learn, PJ is upbeat, engaging, and thoroughly entertaining. By the end of the scant hour, you'll likely be left wanting more; more books, and more of his life stories. I had a blast, and I hope you will too. If after watching, you'd like to learn more, just visit: PJVernonBooks.com and follow him on Twitter @pjvernonbooks. There are many uber-talented people who were mentioned on this video, and I'd like to acknowledge them and invite them to the show: John Fontana, SVP Creative Director, Doubleday @ Random House (NYC) and the book cover designer for Bath Haus Bahni Turpin, Audiobook Narrator-When You Find Me Amy McFadden, Audiobook Narrator-When You Find Me Michael Crouch, Audiobook Narrator-Bath Haus Daniel Henning, Audiobook Narrator-Bath Haus

Special Thanks to: May Cobb for introducing me to PJ. "I can't wait for us to go Pontoonin' with cocktails in our solo-cups!" As always, and if you're still reading all the way down here, I want to say THANK YOU for listening to this podcast, either on TheThrillerZone.com or wherever you get your podcasts. On today's 23rd episode of The Thriller Zone, I'm happy to introduce you to https://DavidMcCloskeyBooks.com (David McCloskey), author of Damascus Station. I feel confident saying you'll enjoy getting to know him as much as I have. And to be frank, I think this guy will be one of those authors you’ll read for years to come. In fact, if you enjoy John Le Carre, you’ll really enjoy his latest page-turning thriller.  I read it, and personally feel it has it all; intrigue, murder, espionage, and even romance. Yes; David has a hit on his hands, as you’ll hear inside the show. A nice bonus, especially meeting someone who is relatively new on the scene, is how excited and humble he appears; especially given the depth of this thriller.  On today's show we cover a wide gamut of topics: the CIA, his work following "bad guys," his reporting to the White House with daily briefs, as well as his love of Texas (where he and his family live), his admiration of Peter The Great (be sure to catch the rapid fire questions near the end), and his passion for Italian food (I mean, who doesn't love that?). We even refer to my new friend and a man David wants to read and get to know, Fred Burton (author of Beirut Rules), as well as hear his taste in books (Little Drummer Girl by John Le Carre), his respect of music (Jack Antonoff/Bleachers), and of course, his love for and the craft of writing. There's so much to take away from this episode, so get comfortable folks because it’s time to get into The Thriller Zone. For More Information, go to: DavidMcCloskeyBooks.com and follow him on Twitter @mccloskeybooks. THRILLER ZONE PLUG: Be sure to catch all the podcasts, both audio AND video, on the newly updated and handsomely enhanced website: https://TheThrillerZone.com (TheThrillerZone.com)  Plus, stay tuned for several new features coming to the show including: contests to win autographed copies of the books we discuss on the show, multiple chances to win "Official Thriller Zone Swag" that includes t-shirts, coffee mugs and more. Finally, if you're a Thriller Writer who would like to be on the show in 2022, there will soon be a way to sign up and share your latest or upcoming release. Cheers! Hello and welcome to another episode of The Thriller Zone, I’m your host, David Temple. Before we start, I have to say I’m one of the luckiest guys in the world. I mean, besides having a lovely and brilliant wife, an adorable dog, and a great life in Southern California, I get to hang out and talk with some of the most talented thriller writers in the world today. I mean, c’mon…how cool is that? I’m really quite grateful. And today is no different, because on today’s episode I get to sit down with Suzanne Chazin. Suzanne’s a talented writer of not one, but two series: Jimmy Vega and Georgia Skeehan. She’s twice been the recipient of the Washington Irving Book Award for Fiction, and her work has appeared in numerous magazines and newspapers. She lives and writes in the New York City area. Oh, and by the way, her BEST piece of advice, you may have heard before, but she builds a really substantial argument for: DON'T QUIT! Now, I'll stop babbling and get to it by welcoming Suzanne Chazin to THE THRILLER ZONE.

Welcome to the fourth & final BONUS EPISODE of The Thriller Zone Podcast, featuring The Poser. As you may know by now, earlier this month, I decided to offer some additional thriller entertainment to my listeners with a work of my own.  Last year I released the mystery/thriller The Poser, based upon my character, Hollywood Detective Pat Norelli, and shortly after, I released the audiobook (https://shop.authors-direct.com/collections/david-temple (available here)). And thus sprung the idea...which is simple & free!  For this last Tuesday of August, you can enjoy the audiobook in this last of four, 25-chapter long sections.  If you’ve been following along, then you know that each audiobook portion is around 2 hours, making the entire book just under 9 hours.  So, prepare for your long drive or cross-country flight, and whether it's an all-nighter, or a leisurely walk, kick back and enjoy the final 25 chapters of https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08882WXDL (The Poser,) starring rookie Detective Pat Norelli; chapters 76-98, to be exact. By the way, while this audiobook is free for you and to share with friends, I'd only ask that you not "copy & repurpose for your financial gain."  One Last Thing: IF you downloaded any portion of this audiobook and enjoyed the experience, it would mean the world to me to get a note from you sharing your experience. Often creators spend countless hours in seclusion writing books and crafting audiobooks, and it’s just nice to know that someone is listening…and enjoying all the hard work.  So, if that's you, please go to my website https://DavidTempleBooks.com (DavidTempleBooks.com) and leave a note on my Contact page, or go to my https://twitter.com/davetemple (Twitter) page, and leave a quick note. I’d really appreciate it. Thank you again & I hope you enjoy The Poser. Cheers!

Hi David Temple the host of The Thriller Zone podcast, and today I’m happy to welcome New York Times Bestselling author Don Bentley to the show.  Don is one of those brave Americans who has served his country in several ways, and who—along with his wife—has managed to build professions while raising three children--while still finding the time to craft the non-stop action of the Matt Drake Series, and the Tom Clancy Thriller, Target Acquired. On today’s show, Don will share his lessons on perseverance, what it’s like to be an FBI agent, a SWAT Team member, and an Apache helicopter pilot, and besides showing us some of his strategic moves, will offer his best advice on how to craft a career as a writer. After crafting 14 New York Times bestsellers centering around his swashbuckling and James Bond-like Alex Hawke character, one might think Ted Bell was satisfied with his epic life’s body of work and is perhaps ready for retirement. But you couldn’t be more wrong. Former Advertising Executive and life-long adventure-seeker, Ted has oodles of stories to tell—both on the page and in person. In fact, I was fortunate enough to capture Ted in rare form (via Zoom; the next best thing to being there), as we spent nearly 90 minutes (although felt like only fifteen) discussing high-performance sports cars and luxury yachts, our favorite cocktails, his vast history of advertising, his lovely European girlfriend, and of course, our mutual love of crafting adventure-rich and page-turning thrillers. His gift of words is one he’s been able to cultivate since childhood and in turn master since the turn of the 21st century. And he’s done so with reckless abandon—much the same way he’s amassed a lifestyle as rich as the Bentley he drives. Do yourself a favor: find a comfy chaise, pour a frosty cocktail, and enjoy as one of the legends of “Madison Avenue” and fine purveyor of storytelling spins yarn after yarn, causing this host to chuckle more than once. My special guest on this episode of The Thriller Zone is thriller writer Meg Gardiner. As an Edgar-winning novelist who writes fast-paced and nail-biting “Hitchcockian” thrillers, Meg knows more than a thing or two about how to pull people in and keep them turning pages deep into the night; The Dark Corners of the Night, to be exact. With three powerful series to her credit—The Evan Delaney Series, The Jo Beckett Series, and The Unsub Series, as well as three standalone thrillers, Meg shows no signs of slowing down. Learn more about all those books at: https://MegGardiner.com (MegGardiner.com) In fact, Amazon Studios snagged the rights to The Dark Corners of the Night, and thanks to the brilliant agent/producer skills of The Story Factory’s Shane Salerno, we will anxiously await Caitlin Hendrix to keep us glued to the screen when the show debuts soon. Thriller writer Sharon Doering may have grown up in a nice suburban neighborhood just outside Chicago, with normal parents, who worked normal jobs, while living a normal life. And even though Sharon is a wife, mother of three children, and does most all the normal things an American housewife does, she has been getting away with murder. Writing about murder, of course. Join Sharon and me for some hilarious moments, as we discuss her nearly perverse love of dark humor, pages of hot 'n steamy sex (in the book), and a fistful of dark, twisted, and broken characters with whom she hangs out. With a Master’s degree in biotechnology, this former science professor and stock analyst, has turned her craft of writing stock reports to crafting psychological thrillers. Joe Goldberg always wanted to write. Even when he was working for the CIA as a Covert Action Officer. But he pressed on, working to bring down the bad guys as they tried to foil justice. Then, working as a Corporate Intelligence Director for Motorola, he received the Meritorious Award, recognized for significant contributions to the intelligence profession. And yet, his yearning to craft a thriller remained a dream. Finally, after many agent passes, he decided to carve his own path, and in 2014, did so, crafting his first self-published novel https://joegoldbergbooks.com/books/secret-wars/ (Secret Wars: An Espionage Story). It wasn't until this year (2021), and with the growing popularity of self-publishing, he took another leap of faith and published https://joegoldbergbooks.com/books/the-spy-devils/ (The Spy Devils). Joe feels he's in the groove with a popular protagonist, a band of crafty characters, and a genuinely thrilling theme. Please join host, https://davidtemplebooks.com (David Temple), as he sits down with Joe in this latest episode of https://davidtemplebooks.com/podcasts/the-thriller-zone (The Thriller Zone).

Today, the microphone got turned around on me, and by none other than my lovely wife, Tammy. Listen as Tammy asks many of the questions I ask my guests, as well as a few of her own. Note: She's a natural at this! In this unscripted, unplanned and "non-zoom" interview, you'll get to hear a show that is literally done in one take with no edits and no planning. If you want an inside look into the world of this thriller writer, being asked questions he rarely answers (publicly), then carve out 59 minutes, and enjoy this fun, candid, and introspective episode of The Thriller Zone with David Temple...and Special Guest Host, Tammy Temple.

I first met thriller author K.J. Howe at the 2019 #Thrillerfest conference in New York City. I found her to be a delightful woman, always willing to help writers be the best they can be. I had her on my other podcast, Naked Monday, but the interview was so good, I wanted to introduce her to my Thriller Zone audience. So, excuse the mid-pandemic comments (12/20), and enjoy the gold nuggets she shares with us. To buy her book and learn more about her, please visit: http://kjhowe.com/ (KJHOWE.com).

My guest today is thriller writer May Cobb, author of The Hunting Wives. Samantha Bailey, author of Woman on the Edge, says, "Wickedly dark, juicy, and addictive, as if the characters from Big Little Lies and Desperate Housewives moved into the same upscale, twisted neighborhood." AJ Finn, author of The Woman in the Window, says, "This fearless, faultless novel confirms May Cobb as one of the most original crime novelists at work today." With an MA in literature from San Francisco State University, her essays and interviews have appeared in the Washington Post, the Rumpus, Edible Austin, and Austin Monthly. Her debut novel, Big Woods, won multiple awards. A Texas native, she lives in Austin with her family. Please welcome an up-and-coming superstar thriller writer and my new friend, May Cobb.
