Our guest this week is Dr Norman Swan, he's a multi-award winning broadcaster, producer, and investigative journalist. His career has been highlighted by his desire to keep the Australian public informed of health developments as they happen, combining medical expertise with journalism. Many, if not most, Australians would know him as the calm, reassuring voice of much health advice during the pandemic, especially on his podcast, Coronacast.
Our guest this week is Dr Karl Kruszelnicki AM - but you would know him as Dr Karl. Born to Holocaust surviving parents, he is known for his wacky shirts and insatiable curiosity, and he has been Australia’s best known science communicator for decades, igniting scientific interest in people of all ages.
He is the Julius Sumner Miller Fellow in the Science Foundation for Physics at the University of Sydney. He was named a National Living Treasure, listed as the 9th most trusted person in Australia, and has an asteroid belt named after him to name but a few achievements.
Our guest this week is the incomparable Alice Zavlavsky. She's a foodie through and through. Her love of good food shines through everything she does, from high school classrooms to Masterchef. And her best-selling books celebrating often underloved veggies. You can find her pretty much everywhere. She's on radio, TV, socials and in print. We were delighted to talk everything from Yiddishkeit to appetite with her.
Our guest this week is the wonderful Shoshana Gottlieb. She is a writer, thinker, educator and the brains behind the instagram page: Jewish Memes Only.
If you have instagram and you’re not following her, do yourself a favour. You'll get the white-hot memes you never knew you needed.
“Hashem gives it the physical world existence and animates it by
the vitality and light which He causes to flow and shine forth unto it— a
light that is clothed, hidden and concealed within the numerous and
powerful garments, which hide and screen the light and vitality, so that
no light or vitality whatever is visibly revealed, but only corporeal and
physical things that appear lifeless. Yet they contain light and vitality
which constantly give them existence ex nihilo, that they shall not revert
and become nothing and nought as they had been.”

Our guest this week is Yael Stone, she's one of Australia's most beloved actors. Best known for her long-running role Lorna Morello on Orange Is The New Black.
She's recently turned her considerable talents to climate solutions. Specifically she speaks about her inspiring work at Hi Neighbour, a wonderful project you can learn more about in the links below.
Yael also shares a tender moment with her dad in this episode, reflecting on her childhood and a decision not to go through with a bat mitzvah.
We had a great time making this episode, and we know you'll enjoy it!
Osher Günsberg is many things: he is a dad, a step-dad, a TV host and prolific podcast producer. He is also a straight-talker when it comes to all things climate, mental health, and a future of abundance for Australia and the world. And a pretty good harmonica player to boot.
Welcome to After the Shofar, a Jewish Climate Network podcast bringing you lactose-free morsels of insight for a meaningful Jewish year ahead.
With fresh Jewish Australian voices, we'll be diving into big questions inspired by this time in the Jewish calendar: how might the Jewish practice of teshuvah - repentance - make us better Jews, better people, and better climate leaders? And when all is said and done - after the shofar blows for the last time - what do we each want to stand for and be proud of when the next New Year rolls around?
