Wake Church exists to wake people up to new life in Christ. Our goal is to encourage you to Enjoy God, Find Family and Love People. We are a multi-ethnic, multi-generational church on mission to make disciples who make disciples. One person at a time, we are seeing people merge their story with His story. We are a gospel-centered community where everyone is welcomed. Wake Church is based in Conroe, TX and is led by Pastor Josh Gosney and Pastor Efrain Cirilo. Today we discuss money and generosity within the church, aiming to correct common misconceptions around giving, the prosperity gospel, and the pursuit of wealth. It emphasizes that true generosity is about the heart and not about fulfilling cultural or materialistic desires, highlighting Jesus' teachings on financial stewardship and the dangers of greed.
The church is not just a physical location but a community of people called to live in fellowship. We must focus on the importance of gathering together, especially around tables, to share meals, build relationships, and express the true nature of the church through love, devotion, and intentional community, ultimately reflecting the love of Christ to the world.
Many Christians today are approaching church with the wrong mindset, treating it as an institution to attend or a subscription to fulfill personal preferences rather than understanding that they are the church, called to be active participants in God's mission. We need to challenge believers to wake up to our purpose of making disciples and following Jesus daily, rather than becoming complacent, spiritually isolated, or passive in our faith.
Today we dive into Chapter 4 of the story of Jonah, emphasizing how his selfishness and anger toward God's mercy for the people of Nineveh reveal the dangers of prioritizing personal comfort and desires over God's will. We are challenged to reflect on our own hearts, urged to surrender our anger and comfort, embrace God's mission of grace, and extend mercy to others, even to those who have wronged us.
Today we discuss the dangers of becoming complacent and oblivious to God's guidance in our lives, waking up to recognize our own disobedience. Realizing the importance of turning back to God, especially when life begins to fall apart, and remembering His character in times of difficulty.
Pastor Josh discusses the story of Jonah, highlighting how our understanding of God's character can influence our actions. Challenging us to reflect on whether we are running away from God's calling, perhaps due to a misunderstanding of His nature. Encouraging us to move toward repentance, forgiveness, and embracing God's mission despite personal inconveniences.

It will require you to step into a life of interruptions and inconveniences. As we get ready for Easter weekend, Pastor Josh dives into the story of the crucifixion. He explains to us that Jesus knew what his purpose was and he knew when his hour would come. He explained the events in the final week and how Jesus would tell the people that his hour had not yet come. When the day of the crucifixion came Jesus knew that his hour had come and he knew the purpose of why He was put on Earth.
On his way to the cross Jesus experienced suffering. He was in distress and full of sorrow. Pastor Efrain unpacks the scene at the Garden and gives us a picture of how Christ suffered for us and how we can learn how to handle suffering in life.
As we close out the Story of David series, Pastor Josh Gosney shows us the lessons we learn as David closes out his life. Pastor Josh shows in scripture how if we trust God with our resources He will show us that He is the true provider.
In week 5 of the series "The Story of David," Pastor Josh explains how David handled his temptations and how we can learn from these situations using 2 Samuel 11. He tells us how it is easier to avoid temptation than it is to resist it. He also details what can happen when sin has our hearts and what we can do to not go down the wrong path.
This week Pastor Wade Bearden dives into 1 Samuel 24 as he talks about temptation and what it does to us. He shows us that sometimes we don't know when we are being tempted and how we can look at David and learn from how he dealt with his own temptations.
As we move into the next installment of the Story of David, Pastor Efrain unpacks the importance of Gospel- Centered friendships. David and Jonathon were soul brothers who were committed, loyal and faithful to each other. We learn that in life, God has given us the gift of friendships to celebrate victories but also to overcome obstacles.
In week two of The Story of David, Pastor Josh dives into the story of David and Goliath. It is a historic passage that we can all learn from, even if we feel like we have heard it before. This story is telling us much more than what we realize.

This story is a reminder that God sees past your disappointments and that you should not be surprised when God chooses you.
In part two of the series "I'm the Problem", Pastor Josh onset gives 6 applicable examples that will help move you into action on the war against your flesh. He uses Romans 8:12-17 while going into depth with each example to explain how to apply them to your life and how it will lead to a positive transformation.

In our series in the book of 1 Corinthians, we will take a look at how the gospel cuts through the noise and chaos of our lives. First up—the issue of divisions in the church. We may assume that church factions are a new phenomenon. But one glance at the church in Corinth reveals that dysfunction, division, and doctrinal chaos are as old as the church itself. And yet, in the midst of all this conflict, all this division, all this noise, the gospel provides a voice of clarity and creates unity.
In this message, Pastor Efrain unpacks the importance of having an attitude of gratitude. The issue with gratitude is that it doesn’t come naturally. We must put it into action. Learn how to practice gratitude on a daily basis and see how it will benefit your relationship with God and with others.
God has called us to wake people up to new life in Christ one person at a time and from one generation to the next. Pastor Efrain explains that really important things don’t happen by accident. We must be intentional. In part 4, we see how we can make a difference in the community around us as we make disciples who will make disciples.
What is your source? Are you relying on the good news from Jesus or trying to do everything alone? During part 3 of our Wake the City series, Pastor Josh reminded us that our source is abundant and generous, and when we trust THE source, He can do the miraculous through us.
During the second installment of our Wake The City series, Pastor Josh took a deeper look at the tithe and how the spirit of generosity is different than perceived by most. Ultimately, Jesus cares more about your heart than your money. Does your trust lie in your own provision or the provision of God?
To kick off our series Wake The City, Pastor Josh showed us how the early church had a unique perspective, one where they understood the good news of Jesus changed everything. Those who believed in the Gospel were united in heart and mind and began to give above and beyond towards the Kingdom. Knowing all this, we were left to answer the question are we navel gazing or gospel gazing?
Pastor Efrain continues to unpack James chapter 5. In this message we see that communion with God is what is going to help us in times of suffering. In this life we will all go through seasons of suffering. Actually suffering is inevitable. However, in this final installment of the book of James, we learn that the sign of a spiritually mature person is when you are running to God in the midst of your suffering instead of running from God.
Our Student Pastor DQ continued our series James by diving into chapter 5. Times may grow hard, but during our Youth Takeover service we learned to stay the course and be patient during the storms. There can be no peaks in life without the valleys, so have patience in the suffering knowing that God WILL produce a harvest.
As we move into chapter 4 of the book of James, Pastor Efrain unpacks the conflict that we face everyday. The believer battles the conflict within, conflict with others and conflict with the world. Learn how to overcome conflict as we submit to God and resist the devil.
As we celebrated our Five Year Anniversary, Pastor Josh finished out chapter 3 in the book of James. We took a deeper look at Godly wisdom and understanding what it means to surrender your own knowledge and understanding to allow God to lead the way. James warns us of the dangers of false wisdom but reminds us how Godly wisdom can change everything when used appropriately.
Take a dive into the book of James chapter 3 in this week’s installment. Pastor Josh lays out the powerful and destructive ways of the tongue. James urges us to find a new source as we look for the strength needed to bridle our tongue.
Part 4 of our series in James reveals to us what a life of true faith looks like. We cannot produce the works God calls us to without fully knowing Him. When we understand the true God of the Bible and fear Him, our lives bring nothing but glory to God.
Part three of James gives us insight on how to keep unity within the community. When we understand that Christ has called us into a new humanity we put to death favoritism towards one another. Check out the latest message from Pastor Josh.
Pastor Efrain closes out chapter 1 of the book of James. True belief causes Christians to live out their faith according to the word. God strategically positions us in the right place at the right time, especially when he wants us to accomplish his purposes. But the right place often seems like the wrong place, and the right time often seems like the wrong time. God’s assignments require us to step out of our comfort zone. Pastor Efrain dives into chapter 3 of Daniel as we get a front row seat of three God fearing men who find themselves in the right place at the right time to accomplish God’s purpose in a culture that is hostile against the things of God.
What does it look like to pursue Jesus first despite all the quick fix solutions this world has to offer? In the second install of Counter Culture, Pastor Josh dives into Daniel chapter 2 to learn how we can live under the authority of scripture in a toxic culture. We see that Daniel served the Kingdom of Babylon, but his heart was surrendered to the Kingdom of God. We look at how Daniels faithfulness can be applied to our everyday life.
What does it look like to follow Jesus faithfully in a Godless culture? The book of Daniel gives us an insight into how to be a faithful follower of Christ in a culture that is hostile towards God. Pastor Efrain closes out our series by unpacking John 15 where we see Jesus preparing his disciples for his upcoming death, resurrection, and ascension to heaven. His final instructions primarily focus on what it means to be his disciples. What does it look like to follow Jesus? True disciples of Jesus have a permanent, life-giving, fruit producing union with Jesus. Disciples will bear fruit because it’s part of their new nature. Pastor Efrain reminds us that being united with Jesus brings life, and life is revealed by fruit. Learn what type of fruit a disciple produces as they follow Jesus.

Despite not having every answer during times of grief, we can be encouraged, knowing that when we hurt, Jesus hurts. We can trust God during difficult times because he sees and knows our pain.
Pastor Efrain unpacks John chapter 9 where Jesus heals the blind man. In this miracle we see that Jesus was teaching a powerful truth about spiritual blindness. The opening of the man’s eyes is really about the opening of his heart. Learn how we can trust Jesus even in our most darkest times.
Pastor Kai teaches us what Jesus was really offering in the feeding of the 5000 found in John 6, which was eternal life. We see that Jesus calls us to believe in Him, but that belief will cost us everything.

As we look at the future of our world today, we must equip the next generation with Faith! With faith, they will learn how to fight, how to love and respect deeply, how to influence, how to live in tension, and how to keep the hope of the Lord. With Faith, we can let the Next Generation know that’s it’s going to be ok!
Jesus showed us the power of multiplication when he equipped and empowered his disciples. Pastor Efrain focuses on our 4th Core Value here at Wake: Kingdom Multiplication. He also reminds us that gospel of Jesus Christ leads to multiplication. We are committed to multiplication from the pulpit to groups. We are striving to equip and empower the saints for the work of ministry! We will raise up and sacrificially send out for the advancement of the Kingdom of God in our city and beyond. We will never stop sending!
Pastor Josh unpacked our third core value “Missional Living.” This life style is one that’s not always comfortable, but is powerful and well worth it. God has called us to be disciples who make disciples and we can accomplish this by living on mission where we live, work, learn, and play.
The kind of life Jesus offers isn’t something we were meant to experience by ourselves. Pastor Efrain focuses on our second core value here at Wake: Biblical Community. He also reminds us that because God has adopted us into His family, we never have to live life alone. As we walk through life together-through the good, the bad, the struggles, and the celebrations- we discover a richness that comes only through these Gospel relationships that challenge us, ground us, and help us grow into fully devoted disciples.
In our first message of 2021, Pastor Josh gives us clarity on how the gospel isn’t just our starting point but how we need it everyday. Gospel Centrality is the first of our five core values as a church. At Wake, we always start with Jesus!
