We often relegate fairytales to children thinking that when we reach a certain agedness we no longer need them. If we do this, we deprive ourselves of respite and imagination, the wonderment of grace, and how to face mortality and the vanity of life.
This week, your favorite dynamic duo explore the magic of the Cinderella story retold with emotional and beautiful depth in "The Slipper and the Rose".
They also accidently fall into the world of Stephen Lawhead's "Song of Albion " Trilogy, a perfect example of how the secondary world (or fairy land) and primary (real world) feed into each other and how the two support each other.

We know you've read "The Hobbit" but have you re-read it? This literary treasure takes on layers of meaning each time your pupil, iris, cornea, retina, stuffed into a cavernous hole socket thing in your skull, glances over it. That means, you can read it with new eyes each time.
Edwin and Megan have read it so many times they now have to wear glasses. But don't worry, that ophthalmologist won't get you. With them as guides they will show you themes, ideas, and motifs. That means, they'll talk about interesting things you may or may not have noticed before and have you running to your copy to make sure they're right. Or your right. As long as somebody's right! Right?

Some musings on why one should challenge themselves early and often. You must ssuuffaaah! Some thoughts that Megan and Edwin thunk include:
Life being difficult should be expected, unless it's the Spanish Inquisition.
That challenging yourself will make the unavoidable challenges less surprising. (note I didn't say easier)
That once overloaded with challenges you will start to realize that those are what make up a life filled with adventure. "An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is only an adventure wrongly considered." G.K. Chesterton.

A couple months ago Edwin was given the specific challenge of "do sumthin' cool with this" and he is happy to report that he has indeed done sumthin' cool.
It was important to keep the integrity of the original couchiness, so details like keeping a few tacks and using the inside supports as the back legs was a must.
