June 2017 VW , before joining Williams February 2021. Let’s camp here for a bit. What made you decide to come out of retirement and come back into Motorsport with Williams? August 2021, the Belgium grand prix, SPA, George Russel lays down a stonking qualifying lap mixed wet/semi dry qualifying to end in P2, and after a rain-soaked race Sunday, and a few laps behind a safety car, end with a podium P2. People talk about copying designs, but this is really just design convergence. How do you assess the designs on the grid and decide what elements to take? You Signed Alex Albon for the 2022 season after a year sabbatical, and it has turned out to be an inspired signing with a P10 in Spa 2022. AT the time there was some specuation you would sign a driver linked with your engine partner, Mercedes, either Vandoorne or De Vries. Can you tell us about the selection process and why you ended up choosing Albon, and what he brings to the team to help shape a young driver like Logan Sargeant? Now James Vowles takes over for you at Williams. Tell us a little bit about James, and what sort of a challenge lies ahead for him?

You’ve made a very successful career from not only journalism, being an author but also working at historic teams such as McLaren and Aston Martin! Where did the journey begin and how did these opportunities come about? What was the transition like from fan to actual part of the sport?
So obviously, it’s Pride Month, and many brands are taking the opportunity to express a message of inclusion. However, we know that a lot of it is pinkwashing and that we have a long way to go. I’m particularly reminded of the recent backlash against drag queens and rampant transphobia. What do you think is the goal of F1 and the FIA in that regard? And what do you believe to be the biggest obstacle or challenge they’re facing when it comes to making the paddock and race events safe and welcoming to all types of marginalized folk?
Matt, you’ve described yourself as “the only gay in the F1 village” in 1996. How did that notion shape your day-to-day experience or behavior in this macho-esque industry? And how and when did you feel like things were shifting?
We all know Sebastian Vettel became a huge LGBTQ ally in the later stages of his career. I wanted to know what the partnership between you and Seb was like? What impressed you the most about his commitment to the message, and where do you see his advocacy going in his life after F1?
You're a vocal part and Ambassador of Racing Pride, an organization that promotes LGBTQ inclusivity in motorsports. Tell us about your involvement with Racing Pride. How pivotal was Aston Martin with their Partnership? What’s the long term goal? And do you think the Aston Martin is still working towards that goal even without you at the helm?
Lastly, I’d like to touch on W Series, which was a single-seater championships for women. And you, of course, were part of its founding members. From the get go, W Series had openly queer representation with drivers such as Jessica Hawkins, Abbie Eaton and Sarah Moore. Why do you think it’s easier to have a message of LGBTQ rights when you have women at the forefront? And what can F1 learn from W Series?
Lightning round
What is your favorite F1 innovation that you think needs to be brought back?
Taxi, Dinner and Dishes
Name a person from the LGBTQ community would you want to wave the chequered flag and at which race?
Pineapple on pizza?

What were your earliest motorsport/F1 memories growing and how did you successful YouTube journey begin? | 2 - This week the Twitter timeline was in a frenzy because in light of the new cost cap financial regulations that were brought in to create a fairer playing field amongst the teams when it comes to spending, two teams have allegedly broke the budget and subsequently have NOT been given a certificate to demonstrate they complied with the regulations. A) What have you made about Toto Wolf’s response in relation the sacrifices Mercedes and similar teams have made, in comparison to Christian Horner who’s been defensive about the alleged breach. B) How damaging is it for the FIA’s reputation that’s already been sunk into quicksand, with its failure here to govern and police its own policies. People have already been quick to try and liken Max’s number of race wins to the dominance of Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton. But in terms of this years challenge, where do you rate this championship year for Max? Do the allegations of him a) not having a consistently competitive teammate, b) having an inconsistent challenge from his championship rivals, c) the allegations of the illegal flexi floor and d) now the breach of cost cap regulations taint the impact of max winning this championship. | 10 - If you could go back to any year of your choice and be an exclusive content creator with a team and driver in their championship winning year… E.g. Michael Schumacher 2004 at Ferrari. Which championship year and team/ would you pick? | SUBSCRIBE TO OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND JOIN THE CONVERSATION BY FOLLOWING US ON TWITTER AT @StripTheDip @Aldas001

On this episode on Jorgy's Stripping The Dipping: Bradley Philpot joins the table with AMG Denz and talks about: 1 – First half of the F1 season and these new regulations? In your view, has the fia been successful with what they set out to achieve? What have you made of the variety of races you seen so far? |2 – You’ve launched a very successful series on youtube – Through the Visor – amazing content highlighting hot topics from each race weekend. One of the topics has been driver ettiqutte and the infamous forcing a driver off the track issue. What was your take of the Max Verstappen vs Schumacher Move, the Perez on Lewis Hamilton Move and the way the FIA have penalised other offences like George Russell on Checo? Have the stewarding standards improved in your eyes? |3 – Another hot topic is track limits and number of offences we saw go rampant at the Austrian GP. How can the FIA monitor this issue and police it more consistently? |4 – We’re recording this on the eve of silly season and there has been a lot of controversy following the Oscar Piastri situation. Is there a morale obligation on Piastri to be loyal to Alpine given they have given him his junior career within the academy? |5 – You had a mega run at the karting world championship following your excellent performance I witnessed first hand at the British Rental Kart Championship |6 – When will the next BRKC registration open and how can people go about signing up? |7 – We know that you are also racing in other series – can you give us insight into how that’s going and how your approach changes between different series and disciplines? |8 – We know you also do sim racing on your channel and have engaged a lot more with the indycar e sport races – but how realistic do you feel the tyre model simulations are in the simulators in comparison to real life in relation to tyre degradation and tyre warm up? |9 – Ferrari seem to have struggled this year with reliability and strategy – when you are a driver in Charles shoes, driving for legacy brand like Ferrari – what goes through your mind? And as driver is there anything you can do to influence your team/stratergists in line with improving and maximising results |10 – What are your predictions for the rest of the F1 championship? Is there any plans or projects you’re working on that you can share with us? Have you been able to follow the other motorsports series this year such as the GT3 Sports Car Racing or the hectic Indycar fight at the moment? | SUBSCRIBE TO OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND JOIN THE CONVERSATION ON TWITTER AT: @StripTheDip @bradphilpot

What paths did you take education wise to put yourself in the awesome position you’re in today? |2 - You worked with RML from a graduate all the way to Powertrain Design Engineer and a design engineer for Delta Cosworth - could you tell us more about these experiences and anything you feel they equipped you with that’s transferable to your current role at Red Bull? |3 - Talk about the season so far with RB power trains. Seems like the engine is quite reliable, while other teams have struggled. What are the biggest challenges design engineers face when it comes to improving reliability without it costing performance? |4 - This year we had the change to 10% ethanol fuel. Can you help our listeners understand the complexity and challenge of such a change? |5 - Big Emphasise from the FIA and drivers like Seb Vettel on the achieving 100% sustainability within the field by 2026. With this goal in mind, do you feel this goal is obtainable? What measures would need to be taken to ensure this is met? |6 - When a new regulation for the PU comes through, how early do you start working on it so our listeners understand just how much work goes into it? |7 - For 2026 the MGU-H will be removed - from an engineering point of view how will this effect performance characteristics like turbo lag or throttle response? How does it affect the role you do generally? Is it more easier now that this component will be phased out? |8 - How do teams use CFD and Wind Tunnels to test different design philosophies? What is involved in the design process from start where it’s an idea or model to finish where it gets fitted to the car? |9 - How do car failures or design flaws the cost the team results, affect morale within the team amongst yourself and the colleague designers |10 - What is the homologating process like working with the FIA to get particular parts signed off or approved within technical standards |11 - How has the cost cap affected the you obtain efficiency in the manufacturing and usage of parts for the car? Is a front gets damaged for example, is it the case now where you try recycle or resalvage that part rather than using up the budget to build multiple replacements? |12 - Exciting time to be working at Red Bull - especially in the engineer division of the team! Could you enlighten us on what the experience has been like with the reduced role of Honda, and rebrand as Red Bull Powertrains? Has there been a change in the culture from working with a Japanese engine manufacturer to now being more independent?
