The MJL Podcast is a place where I connect my friends with friends and interview them about their unique hobbies either for or outside of their normal day jobs. The goal is to keep a record of what my friends and I are passionate about and to give them an outlet to share it. Opinions are my own.
I chat with my friend Christian Rodriguez about DEI in Contemporary dance and music and the Filipino American experience including Jo Koy's Easter Sunday, and his take on the term "Filipinx". It's an in-depth discussion on language, cultural understanding and appreciation, and how knowing the historical context of media can provide a more nuanced understanding and respect for dance and music art forms.

I interviewed my good friend Christine Lu Luu aka Tiny Namaste Pottery. We talk about how she found her calling in pottery and discuss the Asian American experience as a self-made woman in the arts and social work. We briefly begin the pod by talking about her travel experiences and how it’s changed from her 20s to 30s. She’s created a pottery business that has garnered fans from across the globe and discusses how her relationship with pottery evolved from a discouraging high school class elective into a therapeutic and artistic, lifelong career.

Andy Wong and I had never met in real life until recently, and we discuss what it's like as an Asian-Canadian comedian, martial arts, and how it's helped improve his communication skills outside of comedy. He provides advice for up and coming comedians, the ingredients you need for an entertaining joke, and the mindset needed to endure the grind as a comedian.
Caleb and I chat about the creative writing process, how he refined his copywriting craft, and the notable comics he's been involved in.
Disclaimer: Apologies for the late delay in publishing this video. Life got in the way and I'm starting to get back on track with editing. This was recorded late April 2022. I interviewed @FlexwithDoctorJay who defines his brand of physical therapy, why it's important, and how his team empowers people to live pain-free lives. We talk about building accountability systems, the role of a physical therapist in overall wellness, and the trials and tribulations of starting his own physical therapy practice.

In this inaugural episode to kick off the podcast, I chat with Dannie Phan on all things house renovation, gardening, and photography tips. Having run her own wedding photography business, practically demolished her house and yard and building it up from scratch with all the fruits and veggies you can imagine, she seeks to build a community garden and DIY the renovations to her house (where applicable). We also talk about how her Vietnamese-American upbringing in Southern California shaped her attitude and disposition towards her hustle and DIY mentality.
