Step into Matthew 25:31–46, where Jesus, speaking on the Mount of Olives, paints a vivid picture of the Son of Man separating the sheep and the goats. He draws our attention to the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the naked, the sick, and the imprisoned—revealing that whatever is done for “the least of these” is done to Him.
As we sit with this passage, we gently wrestle with the tension it can bring alongside the truth of salvation by grace through faith. We consider how genuine faith doesn’t remain still, but moves—belief and action woven together in a life that follows Him.
We also reflect on who “the least of these” may be pointing to, while holding a posture of love toward all people. And in a quiet moment, we invite the Holy Spirit to open our eyes and hearts… to show us who He is calling us to see, to love, and to serve.

Jesus enters Jerusalem and the crowds yell, "Hosanna!" It is said that most of them probably thought Jesus was the Messiah—but that what He came to do was different than what they might have imagined. They most likely expected a ruler (like the prophet Nathan told them would come), but Jesus first came as a suffering servant (Isaiah 53). In today's episode we mediate on the meaning of Hosanna and what it means for our lives today. "Save us!"

Jesus heals the crowds and feeds 4,000 with seven loaves and a few small fish, leaving seven basketfuls leftover. He should expect praise. But Jesus didn't live for His own hype. What can we learn about a life of contentment from His contentment?

In this episode, we meditate on Matthew 13:44–52, reflecting on what we value most—land how Jesus describes the Kingdom of Heaven as a treasure and a pearl worth selling everything to obtain. As well as Jesus describing the kingdom like a net that ultimately separates the good from the bad.
We consider what it means to be a true disciple, whether we’re willing to sacrifice what’s needed to follow Christ, and what might need to change in the ways we’ve not been living for the kingdom as our greatest treasure.

Jesus started his earthly ministry with focus. He knew His purpose. In this episode we mediate on the beginning of Jesus' ministry and consider: If the King of all Kings focused and didn't try to do everything, maybe it's okay that we can't be everywhere and do everything too. Just like he focused with purpose, we can too.

Family lines are messy and Jesus' genealogy is no exception. In this episode, we explore the genealogy of Jesus presented in Matthew 1, revealing a lineage filled with imperfect people, yet marked by grace. As we meditate on these names, we see how Jesus transforms our own flawed histories into stories of redemption.
Consider: What messiness exists in your family, and how can you invite Jesus’ grace into those areas? Reflect and pray for your family members as we uncover the beauty of God’s grace through generations.
Key Takeaway:
No family lineage is too flawed for God's grace to redeem. Jesus transforms our sin-stained genealogies into testimonies of His mercy.

The Jewish leaders poured over the Scriptures, convinced that eternal life was found within them. Yet, the very one the Scriptures pointed to was standing right in front of them, and they failed to recognize Him. In this episode we consider our own hearts—are we more concerned with knowing information about God than being in a relationship with God?

Jesus heals a lame man in Jerusalem who had been that way for many years, but there is no mention of that man's faith. As we meditate on this week's passage, we see the stark contrast compared to previous passages in this series. The Gentiles believed—even without miracles, like the Samaritans. But Jesus' own people, the Israelites are slow to faith.
Are we slow to faith? Do we miss God at work in our lives? Do we lack belief?

As we meditate on this passage, we witness Jesus breaking cultural barriers to reveal His identity as the Messiah. Pay close attention to the conversation between Jesus and the woman as they discuss living water, true worship, and the relationship God desires with us. Worship is more than actions; it's a heartfelt response to God’s Spirit and truth. Take a moment to reflect, breathe, and embrace worship as a living relationship with our Creator.

In this episode, we meditate on a passage in Ephesians 5 and consider what walking in love looks like for Christ followers.
Here are three key takeaways:
1️⃣ Walking in Love: The passage from Ephesians 5:1-10 reminds us to follow God's example and walk in love, just as Christ loved us and sacrificed himself for us. It challenges us to embody love in our actions and interactions with others, reflecting the love that Christ has shown us.
2️⃣ Living in the Light: The passage also highlights the importance of living as children of light, avoiding behaviors such as sexual immorality, impurity, greed, obscenity, and foolish talk. It calls us to align our lives with goodness, righteousness, and truth, seeking to please the Lord in all that we do.
3️⃣ Reflection and Prayer: As we meditate on these verses, we are encouraged to reflect on our own lives and consider areas where we may need to align more closely with God's righteousness.

NOTES FROM THE TONY EVANS STUDY BIBLE: (a great Bible to have in your personal resources)
23:1 David started out as a shepherd (see 1 Sam 16:11–12; 17:15, 34–37), so he describes his relationship to God in those terms.
23:2 God met David’s spiritual needs. The cares and struggles of this world can leave us exhausted. Such times are opportunities to realize our dependence on the Lord for spiritual refreshment.
23:3 God met David’s directional needs. Sheep are prone to wander and become lost; they need guidance...Through his Word and his Spirit, God leads us along the right paths in life—and reroutes us when we foolishly become wayward. Why? For his name’s sake—that is, so that others can hear us say, “My God has brought me here.”
23:4 God met David’s emotional needs. He provides comfort with his rod (used to beat wild animals that attack the sheep) and his staff (used to guide the sheep and pull them back from harm). When life takes you through the darkest valley, receive consolation in knowing that your divine Shepherd has power in one hand and grace in the other.
23:5 God met David’s physical needs. God fed him when he hungered and anointed him with oil when he needed healing. God’s provision never runs dry. That’s why David’s cup overflow[ed].
23:6 God met David’s eternal needs. Shepherds often have sheepdogs that keep the sheep from wandering. The divine Shepherd has two sheepdogs named goodness and faithful love. Sometimes they bark and nip at you when you wander from the fold. But they do so with the intent of driving you back into fellowship with your Shepherd, so that you may eternally dwell in the house of the Lord.
Tony Evans, The Tony Evans Study Bible (Nashville, TN: Holman Bible, 2019), 613.

Episode SynopsisWelcome to another episode of The WellSoul Podcast! In this episode, we delve into the different perspectives of Jesus as revealed by those who witnessed his ministry: a demon, a prophet, a disciple, and the religious.
We begin by reflecting on what a demon said about Jesus in Mark 1:23-24. The possessed man in the synagogue cried out, acknowledging Jesus as the Holy One of God. This encounter reveals the power and authority that Jesus possessed, even over demonic forces.
Next, we examine the perspective of the religious rulers in Matthew 9:32-34. After witnessing Jesus casting out a demon from a man who was unable to speak, the crowds were amazed. However, the Pharisees attributed Jesus' actions to the ruler of demons, refusing to acknowledge his true identity.
Moving on, we explore what John the Baptist proclaimed about Jesus in John 1:29-34. John recognized Jesus as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. He bore witness to the Spirit descending upon Jesus and affirmed him as the Son of God.
Lastly, we consider Simon Peter's declaration in Matthew 16:13-16. When Jesus asked his disciples who people said he was, Peter boldly proclaimed him as the Christ, the Son of the living God. Peter's confession demonstrates the disciples' growing understanding of Jesus' true identity.
Throughout these passages, we observe that the demons, John the Baptist, and Peter all recognized and declared Jesus' true nature. However, the religious rulers remained closed off to the truth, attributing Jesus' actions to demonic influence.
As we reflect on these different perspectives, we are prompted to ask ourselves: Are we closed off to the truth of Jesus? Who do we say Jesus is? Our answer to this question has a profound impact on our lives and our relationship with God.
In closing, we offer a prayer of worship and gratitude to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, acknowledging God's goodness in revealing Jesus to us. We invite listeners to download a free resource on how to have a devotional time, available in the show notes.

As Jesus ministered to people, he demonstrated his identity through his actions. In this week's podcast episode, we consider John the Baptist's question to Jesus and how sometimes we can't see God at work because we are blinded by our own expectations of how he should work.
Is he at work in our lives right now and we are missing noticing?

Isaiah Verses Quoted in Matthew by Jesus in response to John the Baptist's question. Excerpt taken from ESV Study Bible:Isaiah: the blind receive sight (cf. 9:27–31; Isa. 29:18; 35:5), the lame walk (Isa. 35:6; cf. Matt. 15:30–31), lepers are cured (Isa. 53:4; cf. Matt. 8:1–4), the deaf hear (Isa. 29:18–19; 35:5; cf. Mark 7:32–37), the dead are raised (Isa. 26:18–19; cf. Matt. 10:8; Luke 7:11–17; John 11:1–44), and the good news is preached to the poor (Isa. 61:1; cf. Matt. 5:3; Luke 14:13, 21). Jesus’ deeds gave sufficient proof of who he was and that the prophesied time of salvation had come (“the year of the Lord’s favor”; Isa. 61:1; cf. Isa. 62:1). -------

King Solomon asked God for wisdom—and he got it. Much of the wisdom literature we have in the books of Wisdom and Poetry in the Bible were written by Solomon. Job was a faithful man—and lost everything in one day. His riches, his children, and his social status. Gone.
Then Satan goes further to inflict Job with an immensely painful disease.
Job did not suffer perfectly. He complained and even demanded God answer him—but what Job DID was humble himself before God, even when his suffering didn't make sense.
We face situations in our own lives that don't make sense: pain, suffering, or unknowns that lay out in front of us. We can wonder "Where is God in this?"
In the story of Job we find our comfort. We can trust God, even when life doesn't make sense.

Jesus' followers gathered in obedience to Jesus' command: to wait in Jerusalem. But they just sat there.
Waiting.
Do you ever feel like God has you in a perpetual waiting room of sorts?
I do.
Actually, I'm in one right now as we wait on God to show us where He wants us to move.
When we are waiting, we can do what the believers did in Acts—we wait with action.

Do you remember a loved one in your life screaming out the door final words as you drove off?
My mother-in-law always says, "Drive Safely!"
Colossians 4 is Paul's version of "Drive Safely!" for the Colossian church.
"Be devoted to prayer.! Be wise toward outsiders!" I imagine him waving and yelling in love from his 1st century version of a front porch.
In this final meditation in the book of Colossians, we look back on what we have meditated on in this series and focus on Paul's final encouragement for us in this short and powerful epistle.

What do you seek?
This week I lost my phone for a few hours and tore threw my house in determined desperation. The Holy Spirit kept prodding my inner conscious, "Do you seek me as fiercely as you seek your phone?"
No. At least, not often.
But what if we did?
This week's mediation we consider where we place our focus and how to live more diligently in our pursuit of Jesus and His ways.

Religion can leave us confused—or spinning in circles. "Do this." "Don't do that." "If you don't have an experience like mine, then you must not be as close to God as I am."
Sometimes we wonder if we're supposed to do more than believing and following God's Word.
The Christians in Colossae were quite confused as well. The local believers mixed in their previous faiths and worldviews with Christianity.
What did Paul tell them that can help us?

SERIES OVERVIEW
Welcome to the 6-week Lent series, "God, I Need You: A Lenten Series in the Book of Romans."The Gospel is the power of God that brings salvation for all those who believe (see Romans 1:16)..
This six-week series will explore our need for God—and His extravagant provision for us in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
It is the hope that through these six weeks, we will prepare our hearts for celebrating the passion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Lent is a season of repentance marked by prayer, fasting, and confession. All of us sin. In fact, I have heard it said that our hearts are like sin-producing factories. And this annual season reminds us of our need for Jesus—and reminds us to seek His face while He may be found.
For resources on Prayer, Fasting, and the Lent season, see the links below.

What purpose helps get you going in the morning? Is it the job that waits? The kids that need dressed? The bills that need paid?
In all of this, there is a greater purpose: doing the work our King has set out for us to do.
In Luke 19, Jesus shares a story about a King going away, giving ten of his subjects ten minus (1 each)—and tells them to put them to use.
He returns to find a mixture of outcomes—yet one of the servants he calls "Trustworthy" and rewards that servant with overseeing ten cities.
Our King Jesus is returning—we don't know when—but will we be found trustworthy? Will we be found faithfully living for Him in honoring Him with the resources and skills He's gifted us?
Take a few minutes to listen to the Spirit during this week's podcast and consider how you can be sure you are being faithful—living with purpose .

Happy New Year from the Well Soul Podcast!
At the beginning of new seasons, it is always helpful to take a pause to listen, reflect, and pray.
How did you see God at work in your life this past season?
How did you grow?
What can you praise Him for?
In this week's podcast episode, Jesus is teaching his disciples (and others listening) about the kingdom of God in a series of teachings and exhortations—as he makes his way to Jerusalem to sacrifice himself for our sins.
On His way, as he walks the border between Galilee (Israel) and Samaria, He encounters ten lepers who call out to him.
Jesus tells them to go to the priests and present themselves at the temple.
Most (if not all) of them would know that such an act was part of the Law, found in Leviticus. If a person had a skin disease and was made well, they were to present themselves to the priest for verification and then they could rejoin the community. Living with a skin disease casted you out of the community and out of temple worship.
As the lepers obeyed Jesus' words and walked toward Jerusalem, they were healed!
But only one came back to thank Jesus and praise God—a Samaritan.
Samaritans were despised by the Jews because they were considered "half-breeds", intermarried Jews with other surrounding people groups. Jesus called the Samaritan a "foreigner" (Luke 17:18). But this half-breed foreigner was the only one that declared his gratitude to Jesus.
How about us? Do we march on when God works in our lives and forget to pause to praise and worship Him? Or do we stop like the Samaritan and worship God for what He does?
Listen to this week's episode and take a moment to ponder and worship God for what He has done in your life as you being this new year.

The Pharisees are back at it: sneering at Jesus. This time it is Jesus' teachings on the importance of wisely managing our resources—and not letting our love of money or possessions to distract us from the Kingdom of God.
Pondering the use of money as it relates to spirituality is a sticky subject. Yuck. But at the Well Soul Podcast we drink in all of Scripture, and Luke 16 gives us some clear and helpful thoughts to ponder as we seek to live with a well soul—to know God's Word, walk with God, and live with purpose.
The main question is: LORDSHIP. Do we let our desires for worldly riches and pleasures rule us, or are we ruled by the Spirit of God?
Listen to this week's podcast for some deep consideration—and possibly some deep spiritual growth.

Jesus hangs out with sinner and tax collectors, those unfavorable folks who society labels as unrighteous, unwanted. The Pharisees might have thought, "Why would a potential prophet (Jesus), a man of God, eat a meal with such rebellious, unclean people?"
Jesus responds to the Pharisees with a series of parables (stories that reveal truth) recorded by Luke: The lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son.
By listening to the series of short stories, we can hear God's heart: people are more valuable than sheep and coins— more valuable than possessions and money—and yet you (oh Pharisees) rejoice when you find something you lost. How much more a son? A person?
In this week's podcast we remember there is hope for all those who feel lost.

The disciples expected Jesus to deliver them from the political powers in their generation—but Jesus came to die, to deliver us from the powers of hell. Two times in Luke 9, Jesus predicts his death and then calls his followers to be willing to die to themselves—or their own plans—in order to follow him.
This episode helps us meditate on what it might mean for us to die to ourselves and live for Christ.
What is holding us back to becoming all God created us to be for His glory?

We try to do all the "right things" as Christians, but there isn't a day that we don't mess up—again and again.
Instead of ridiculing ourselves, the recognition of our shortcomings can be reminders of the extravagance of God's grace and encourage us to follow Him.
In Luke 7 we see the religious leaders declare someone is "worthy" of Jesus because of what this person does and has (he helped pay to build a Jewish synagogue), but the man himself shows humility in knowing he is unworthy of even being in Jesus' presence.
And Jesus declares that man's faith more powerful than anyone in Israel.
In this episode, you will hear the contrast between those who think they are good enough for God—and those who know they are not. And you will have time to reflect and pray about your own gratitude for God's grace.

Following Jesus is not easy—especially when we deal with difficult people.
Luke the physician writes about a series of encounters between Jesus and some difficult religious people who speak against him and plot evil in their hearts.
In this episode you will see that Jesus had to face challenging people and then consider his teaching on how to live amongst those who are just down right evil.
May this episode help you persevere for the sake of the Gospel—no matter who you need to persevere in loving well.

Simon Peter encountered Jesus through a miraculous catch of fish and then left everything to follow Jesus. Levi (the sinner tax-collector) also put down his hustle to follow Jesus.
Sometimes following Jesus looks foolish (who would just leave their jobs in a split moment?), but faithfulness is never foolish from a Kingdom perspective.
In this episode, you will have moments to reflect and pray to consider the openness of your heart toward God and listen to the Spirit in how He might be calling you out to follow God more fully.

The Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan. Since God-of-the-Universe, made flesh, was moved by the Spirit into a time of preparation through resisting the enemy—then we can expect to encounter our own spiritual wilderness seasons too.
But Jesus also gives us the example of HOW to persevere our own wilderness: through the truth of Scripture.
In this episode, you will have moments to reflect and pray to consider the temptations common in your own life and in what ways you desire to see the Kingdom come.

We want a close relationship with God, but sometimes it feels like He is light years away.
In Luke 3 we reflect on John the Baptist preaching in the wilderness. Curious listeners asked John what one must do to enter the kingdom.
John's message is both convicting and refreshing—and I think helps us remember how to experience spiritual renewal when it seems like God's presence resides in a different galaxy .

Sometimes life feels like Merry-Go-Round of bewilderment. We just want to make sense of the landscape — but it feels a bit like a spinning blur.
In this episode, we drink in passages from Luke Ch. 2, where we see Mary's response to the prophetic encounters regarding Jesus' young life—and the challenges of mothering her son (hint: he disappeared for 3 days when he was 12!)
From Mary's example, we glean wisdom in how to inwardly navigate the mysterious uncertainties in our own lives.

We all want to have peace within, but often it feels like only a dream. How can we find wholeness and peace instead of stress and anxiety? How can we live with purpose instead of live in a rush?
I've asked myself these questions over the past few years and have discovered that wholeness begins with a well soul—and a well soul is sourced, founded, rooted in 3 truths:
1. Repent and believe in the Gospel.
Jesus' love and forgiveness fill our lives with peace and goodness.
2. Drink in Scripture regularly.Renewing our minds with what is true sources our souls in Living Water that refreshes us.
3. Walk with Jesus in everyday living.Learning to walk by the Spirit moment-to-moment helps us learn to live every moment with a well soul.
Listen to the first introductory episode where we pause to drink in Scripture, reflect, and pray about these three foundational truths. This first episode is longer because we are laying a foundation for the whole idea of well-soul living.
Our first season through the Gospel of Luke will include weekly devotional podcasts about 8-12 minutes to help guide you through a moment with God in the busy of your day.

Crazy things happen. A car accident changes our active lifestyle. A loved one dies unexpectedly. The company closes and our income disintegrates.
Name your "crazy." I'm sure you have experienced something that knocks you off your feet.
And often (at least for me), the first thing that springs from our soul is a question, "Why? How?"
I've questioned God. I questioned him when my son almost died, when the job didn't open, when my career shifted—and I don't think I'm alone in wondering if it's okay to question God.
How should we respond when crazy things happen?
In Luke Chapter 1 we see two people question God in wonder. And we see God respond in two different ways.
What can we learn from these encounters for our own moments when we wonder, "What is God doing?"
