Spacemen, let's get intimate. I mean, don't we do that on every episode? Well, we don't really do it on this episode. But we do talk about how important it is to connect with other men and how research supports the idea of men spending time together. So, tell your wife it's boys night, listen to the Manspace, and head out to Buffalo Wild Wings...except not really. It's not very good. I don't know. I don't see what the big deal is. Lots of TV's, yes. But the food is meh. Maybe if they offer me free food, I'll change my mind. Ball's in your court B-dubs.

Spacemen. Don't pretend like you're reading this. I know you don't have time. So, I'll entertain myself. On today's episode, we explore the depths of the mind. We do a 45 minute DEEP meditation. Literally, it's 45 minutes of total silence. Prepare to peer into the deep recesses of your brain.
Fine. It's not really that. But does it really matter? You're gonna listen. The question is, are you getting your friends to listen?
Today, we're talking about the book Scarcity Brain by Michael Easter. It's a good one. We look at how a scarcity mindset has evolved over years and how we need to develop a different focus in our lives.

Mostly, we talk about how there is real advantages to learning to live without things. It's not always good to get anything you want whenever you want. Try cutting some stuff off. I mean, I'm not suggesting a finger or anything, but maybe social media or something. Just not The Manspace. No one should live without that.

On today's episode, we talk about Iron John and how to find our inner man. I mean, that sounds deeper than it is, but we do have some good conversations about finding what we've lost. Don't believe me? Listen in. And look what AI has to say about it:
In this conversation, the hosts delve into the themes presented in the book 'Iron John,' exploring masculinity, personal growth, and the importance of embracing one's wild and untamed aspects. They discuss their mixed feelings about the book, the archetypes of masculinity, and the role of mythology in understanding oneself. The conversation also touches on the dynamics of relationships, the necessity of boundaries, and the cultural reflections on masculinity in modern society. Through humor and personal anecdotes, they navigate the complexities of becoming a whole man in today's world.

Listen up Spacies. You're not bad at empathy, Women, you're not as good as you think you are. Turns our many men want to be more open, but are afraid it will be rejected by their female partners. So ladies, get better.
I mean, it's not really a competition. We just do stuff differently. So if you're interested in getting a little better at empathy and getting annoyed at Rob, listen in.

SpaceBruhs! Sup. Go get your readers and other nerd glass-type accessories and come get your club on. But the book club kind, not the cool kind of club. On today's episode, we're discussing The Coddling of the American Mind.
To be honest, this book might be controversial for some. But it shouldn't be. There's some very helpful stuff in this book. Like, slowing down to listen to other points of view, encouraging resilience in your kids, and challenging your own beliefs.
So, get your nerd on. Next book is Lessons for Living by Phil Stutz.

Spacemen, once again, we answer your most burny questions. This week, we tackle the dilemma that plagued Lucy and Ricky Ricardo--sleeping in separate beds. Believe it or not, there is some debate around this idea. Luckily, the Admirals of the Space-i-verse put it to...bed?
Today, we clarify the context around different sleeping arrangements. Turns out, it's less about the arrangement and more about the communication around the arrangement. Weird. We suggest a conversation. It's almost like all problems in life can be solved with a simple conversation. But before you get to that, listen in. AI promises "Each topic is discussed with humor and personal anecdotes, creating a relatable and engaging dialogue." So you know it's good.

Spacemen, did you miss us? Apparently so. Some of you reached out, concerned about our recent hiatus. I'm not sure you can call it a hiatus--more just a whoopsie. Matt and Mike forgot to record when Rob was gone and then SOMEONE forgot to post this episode on time. Sheesh.
Don't worry. We're back. And today, we tackle how to handle relationship dynamics when one partner struggles with mental illness. This is another listener request, so you know it's good. According to AI, we explore the importance of understanding mental health diagnoses, effective communication strategies, and the necessity of self-care for both partners. We also emphasize the need for personal growth and the ability to navigate difficult conversations while maintaining a supportive relationship.
Man, AI makes us sound like champs.

Spacemen, EVOLVE! But before you do that, let me just lay down some gems from the AI show note suggestions...words like "light banter", "light-hearted", and "insightful". It's like AI is trying to put us in a 2024 box. Well this is 2025 and we will not be contained. This episode is ridden with "deep insults", "hard-hitting truth bombs", and dare I say "mind-blowing". Okay so maybe it's not that different from 2024, but does it need to be? Do we need to reinvent ourselves every year, or are we all just on a path of ongoing growth and improvement. Sure, fresh starts can be important times to reflect and shift our course, but maybe focusing on larger themes and attributes vs. specific targets is a better way to look at ongoing change. Spacemen! Did you ever consider that it's really hard to see something from someone else's point of view? Like, maybe you can't even see how your own perspective changes how you view things.
On today's episode, we talk about blind spots we have--how things we've always assumed are correct--might impact how we approach situations. Also, full disclosure, I'm watching a terrible Christmas movie right now. But maybe it's not terrible? Maybe my blind spot is assuming that good acting makes a good movie. Shame on me. But it doesn't have to be shame on you. Listen to the episode. Consider your blindspots. Be a better person.

Look spacemen, it takes a true spaceman to admit when they're wrong and an even truer one to admit when their wife is wrong. On today's episode, we do just that.
We don't actually admit to being wrong, but Mike and Rob talk about how men are the problem in relationships. We're not saying women are, but we are saying we need to stop blaming men for everything. You're doing a good job. Could you do better? Sure! That's why you listen to The Manspace (which, coincidentally, is how I know you are doing a good job). So keep your chin up. On today's episode, we talk about the effectiveness of positive feedback and how, unfortunately, we're not so great at it. Look spacemen, probably the only thing you need to know about this episode is that Matt does not like Ryan Reynolds. You should probably let Ryan know on social media. If I know him like I think I do, he'll want to come on our show and rectify that. I should also make a formal clarification--this episode is NOT brought to you by Ryan Reynolds or any of his affiliate companies.
We do talk about other things on this episode too. Specifically what to do if you lost that liking feeling for your spouse. We've all had some level of that feeling. But it turns out, there are some things you can do about it. I know you want me to tell you what, but I want you to do your own work. I gotta watch Monday Night Football.

Spacemen, sometimes (read often) on the show, we like to go ahead and speak for all women. Today's episode is no exception. Today, Mike and Rob reveal what attracts women. Is it the big car? Or maybe money? Muscles? I don't want to spoil the surprise, but maybe?
Turns out confidence is a key ingredient to attraction. We don't actually speak for women, but more humans in general. Confidence is attractive. So we'll tell you how to develop it. Have we ever steered you wrong?

Basically, it matters to be careful about what you consume and trust on the internet. Make sure you do your own research before you run off and start sharing your wisdom. Only listen to The Manspace. We'll never lead you astray.

Spacemen, have you ever given much thought to how you smell? Or wondered if others have given much thought about the way you smell? Do you wear cologne? Too much? Wrong scent? Is your lady friend impressed? Does it matter?
Today, Matt, Mike, and Rob tackle smell. Matt got all smelled up for the show and really impressed us. Does he ever not? But maybe, we're just impressed with Matt and he just feels more confident when he smells of musk and manliness. So spritz on the ol' Drakkar Noir and listen in.

He talks about the stories that define us and the stories that others use to define us. He shares the story of Emma Carey, a skydiver who survived a 14,000-foot fall, and how she struggles with being defined by that one event. Take home is you don't have to be defined by moments. Spacemen, we've let you down. I mean, not really, but sort of. We weren't there for you last week when you needed us most. But we, like many people, have limits and have to take vacations from time to time. We're back though, and everything will once again be aligned in the spaceiverse.
As you will hear, Rob was absent on this episode. But it's a good one anyway. Today, we talk about how we can learn to love. Matt and Mike talk about the book 'The Art of Loving' by Eric Fromm and the four main components of love: care, responsibility, respect, and knowledge. More specifically, they talk about respect, care, self-growth, and vulnerability. I mean, did you really think we'd have an episode in which we didn't talk about vulnerability? So, get ready to learn...to love...and to laugh. Put that on your wall. You're welcome.

Fine. Not really. But we DO talk about it. I know what you're thinking. "Hey Rob, didn't you guys just barely talk about silence?" Yes, Spaceman, we did. But before, we talked about knowing the times it's good to be quiet in relationships and conversations. This time, it's more using silence as a meditative state. We talk about why it's helpful and how to make it a more deliberate focus. So gather your friends around and tell them to shut up. Then sit in silence. Then turn on the episode and learn why that was good for you.

Today, spacebirds, Matt, Mike, and Rob talk about body language. Not in an Ursula kind of way, just in a difference between men and women kind of way. We talk about men finding ways to connect that are sometimes mislabeled avoidant or even homophobic. Really, we are trying to connect through body language just like everyone else. Don't believe me? SPACEMEN!!!! Did you know you’re screwing your kids up? You’re not. But what if you are? Well today, we’ll address that topic. We talk about clip from Dr. Becky Kennedy, a clinical psychologist known as the millennial parenting whisperer. We’ll talk about how focusing on making kids happy can actually make them fearful and less tolerant of other emotions. When parents try to rescue their kids from distress, they send the message that certain emotions are bad and should be avoided. This can lead to anxiety in adulthood. It is important to develop resilience in kids and allow them to experience a range of emotions. Society's emphasis on happiness and the avoidance of pain can be detrimental to emotional development. We even give you an activity to do at home to help develop your tolerance for emotional discomfort.

Then Matt, Mike, and Rob explore what happened and how this complaint seemed to carry so much weight in this guys relationship. We talk about a bunch of stuff, including: the importance of expressing preferences and the impact of not speaking up for oneself, the common experience of feeling obligated to address issues, the role of a husband and the pressure to fix problems in a relationship, and the conversation concludes by highlighting the significance of understanding the drive behind emphasis and cultivating effective communication and preferences in relationships. So we do talk about the drive behind emphasis, but it's not like it's ALL we talk about. Sheesh AI. Calm down.

SPACEMEN!!! GATHER! Join us as we talk about what to say when there's nothing left to say. Most of us have had conversations with people in which we have said everything there is to say, but it doesn't seem to help. Maybe your partner or spouse is really stuck on something and you've offered the obviously perfect solution, but they don't seem to be buying it. How dare they?! Don't they know how smart you think you are?
On today's episode, Matt, Mike, and Rob break down what to say when you've got nothing. We talk about reaching a point of exhaustion, the challenge of finding solutions, seeking a feeling rather than an actual thing, being curious and asking questions, and developing tolerance and patience. Listen in. We've got LOTS of stuff to say. We would never run out of things to say. Not us.

Summary
'Sup spacemen. I let AI do the shownotes today. The first thing it mentioned? I'll show you..."The conversation covers topics such as Mike's butt pain." HA HA! To be clear, that's in reference to Mike not liking one of the chairs we sit on, but man, AI makes us look like dummies. Now, today's episode is really about the process of therapy and what to expect. We cover things like misunderstandings and confusion, asking for advice, broad questions and uncertainty, expectations of therapists, therapists' knowledge and expertise, disappointing answers, the fallibility of experts, therapists' lack of ready-made solutions, and the complexity of diagnoses. The conversation also highlights the value of boundaries and the experiential nature of knowledge in therapy and the slow and incremental process of change.
Thanks AI.

Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
Hey guys. We're all on spring break this week. We know that will disappoint some of you. So, we reposted one of our most listened to episodes, Men and Depression. It's a topic that's been coming up for us lately, so we figure it was a good time to repost. Give a listen. Again. Fall in love, all over again.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
On today's episode, Matt, Mike, and Rob discuss the mislabeling of men as narcissists and the negative consequences of such labeling. They then explore various defensive behaviors that men often exhibit including compartmentalization, intellectualization, projection, emotional avoidance, and displacement. and provide insights into these defense mechanisms and their impact on relationships. This was written by AI. How cool are we? Well, this part wasn't, obviously. Or maybe it was and AI has become self aware enough to consider itself cool. As stated previously, I, for one, welcome our supreme overlords.
Episode Takeaways
Mislabeling men as narcissists can lead to a misunderstanding of their behaviors and hinder personal growth.
Men often exhibit defensive behaviors such as compartmentalization and intellectualization.
Compartmentalization involves separating different aspects of one's life, while intellectualization involves analyzing situations from a detached perspective.
Understanding these defense mechanisms can help improve communication and foster healthier relationships. Compartmentalization involves separating different aspects of one's life or emotions to manage them separately.
Intellectualization is the process of focusing on facts and logic to avoid or minimize emotional responses.
Projection occurs when individuals attribute their own thoughts, feelings, or behaviors to others.
Emotional avoidance involves suppressing or denying one's emotions to avoid discomfort or conflict.
Displacement is redirecting strong emotions or frustrations towards a person or object that feels less threatening.

Look, it's been 130 episodes. Surely by now, we've had some impact, right? I mean, we have a MASSIVE reach. Like, at least 7 people. At least those 7 people are better. No question.
Except, today on the show, Matt, Mike, and Rob look at what the problems facing men were 30 years ago and it turns out, they're the same ones as today. Men are still struggling with being okay with ourselves and our efforts. We still struggle to know how to better ourselves. And we still tear each other down, as evidenced by some of our YouTube comments. (who reads those anyway, right?)
Part of our problem is that we aren't patient in bringing about change and demand we be different now, which only leads to dichotomous thinking and pendulum swinging. So, instead, listen to the episode and find a better balance. Keep working toward a better version of you and tell your friends about the show. They'll thank you.
Or at least I will.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
Look. I don't have any funny jokes for this one, Okay? I just think we need to say no to our kids more often. We're not doing them any favors telling them yes all the time or letting them decide everything for themselves. I'm sure your kids are really smart and stuff, but kids don't know anything. They need someone how does know something to help them learn.
Luckily, Matt, Mike, and Rob are here to help you learn and then, by extension, help your kid learn. So really, The Manspace is raising the next generation. So spacemen, gather your kids 'round. Tell them you have some really exciting news. Then, no matter what they ask you, say no. Huh. Looks like I do got jokes.
Just be a clear, good example for your kids, will ya? Lead out. Be a Spaceman.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
Hey Spacemen. You're pretty great. I like that shirt you're wearing. You always say such smart things. There. Doesn't that feel nice? Doesn't it feel good to get a compliment from your fellow man?
Today's episode is about how we can build each other up and why we struggle to do that sometimes. Let's be honest, sometimes it's not easy being a dude and sometimes we make it harder on ourselves by tearing each other down. Matt, Mike, and Rob break down why building each other up helps us and helps other men.
Listen in. You'll feel better about yourself.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
Hey there Spacemen. This time of year can stress a lot of us out. How do we make sure we plan the perfect valentine's day? If you go too small, it looks like you don't care. If you go to big, it looks like you have ulterior motives. What's a guy to do?
Don't worry. You can ALWAYS count on The Manspace. We, once again, have the answers. Mike and Rob break down how to have the most perfectest ever V-Day. And we should know. We looked it up on Goo...I mean, we're therapists. So give yourself a box of chocolates and some flowers and TREAT YO-SELF to an episode of The Manspace.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
You're either gonna love this episode or hate it. Or, maybe there's some room for something in between. Seriously. Why's it always one or the other with you? Like, I had a friend who would always asked if you "loved" something. And I was like, "I mean, I like it. Do I have to love it?" Sometimes it's good to find a balance.
On today's episode, we talk about finding the balance and seeing things with a little more gray. We break down the difference between catastrophizing, feeling emotions, and making things black or white. Sometimes, it's okay to say, I don't know what I feel about this right now. It allows you to see more options and perhaps be a little more forgiving of yourself and others.
Some come and like the episode. You don't have to love it. It can be something you think is okay, right now.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
We know you spend most of your free time listening and relistening to The Manspace Podcast. And we know what you try to get your spouse to listen so we can shed some light on you and your relationship. But we also know The Manspace Podcast can only take you so far. Sometimes you need someone to get into it with you and help you and your partner see what you can't see alone. Unfortunately, we can't see all of the spacemen in the space-iverse for therapy.
So if you've reached the point where you need more than The Manspace is offering, on today's episode, we give you some tips on finding a good couples therapist and knowing what to look for in therapy.
And for those of you who struggle with Rob, don't worry. After multiple technical difficulties, he just sort of fades in and out of the episode like a nasty wart you can't shake.
Join us to find out how to take your relationship to the next level.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
On this Man Nugget Monday, Matt talks about ways to balance our needs for time alone and time together. We often treat these types of activities as though they take away from each other and, therefore, need to be kept in balance. Matt talks about two ways to experience the benefits of both no matter if you are alone or together.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
On today's episode, we offer up some mediocre morsels. And you'll take it and you won't complain. Just kidding. Why settle for mediocrity? Matt, Mike, and Rob talk about settling and ways men just take what they can get. We offer some solutions if you feel like you've been settling lately:
...and many more. So many hits, you won't believe it all fits in one episode. But they do. Somehow, they do. So listen in. Share the good news of the Manspace. And don't forget to love us on youtube.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
On today's episode, we step back in time a few weeks to talk about our experiences watching It's a Wonderful Life. Turns out, despite having seen it multiple times, it can still hit a nerve. Matt, Mike, and Rob talk about misconceptions about men and their reactions.
Things can get tricky for men when they bottle emotions too long and they come out poorly. Then we get accused of abusive or aggressive behaviors. Making no excuse for abusive patterns and behaviors, sometimes men get upset and react in less than ideal ways (non-abusive), and then get ostracized. Creates a rough space in which men feel they can't express ever, even when encouraged to express.
Come listen to the episode. See if you can relate and learn some new ways to manage emotions.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
Yes, it's Man Nugget Monday!! Bite-sized nuggets of relationship advice to keep you and your relationship on track. Today, we talk about ways to make mental space for your partner. We've all got a lot on our minds, and mental space is a precious commodity. When we make room to think about what is going on for our partner, we are much more likely to take advantage of small moments to connect and much less likely to jump to negative conclusions when they aren't at their best.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
Want more intimacy in your life? You should. Not just sexual intimacy, all forms of intimacy. On today's episode, Matt, Mike, and Rob break down how to be more deliberate about creating the kind of intimacy you want. We discuss:
Making time to do it, even scheduling.
Sharing more of your experience, rather than the details.
High fiving more.
That last one isn't discussed. I just wanted to see if you're still reading. But honestly, could high fiving more hurt your intimacy? I would argue not.
It's a new year. Why not be a new, more intimate you. Thank you Manspace.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
It's a little annoying how often therapists recommend having a conversation with your partner. As though everything can be solved by talking to each other. But honestly, there are enormous benefits to having a conversation. Some of the biggest benefits include:
Increased understanding of the issues
Improved perspective and empathy
More maneuverability in the relationship
Seriously, we recommend it a lot to clients. And a lot on this show. In fact, if you were a regular listener who told their friends about us, you would know that. So, join Matt, Mike, and Rob as we break down why you should be opening your mouth more to talk about things. Even if they don't get 'resolved,' you can improve your relationship and be the spaceman you've always wanted to be.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
Many men feel like they can't bring things up in their relationship. Either because they "don't care," or because there's no point anyway. Unfortunately, that's bad for men and bad for relationships. Well don't worry. Manspace will save you.
On today's episode, Matt and Rob (Mike was mysteriously missing) discuss 5 tips to bringing things up in your relationship, with a couple of bonus tips. Things like:
1. Know what you're bringing up
2. State things directly
3. Be careful about how you receive things
4. Avoid pointing blame
5. Advocate for yourself
...and many more. Remember those greatest hits cd's and cassettes they used to sell on commercials? "Classics like, 'Love in Libya,' 'Dancin' in Blue Jeans,' and many more. I just did that. See? The Manspace can save you marriage AND provide nostalgia all in one episode. Tell your friends.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
Is there a danger in always giving ourselves what we want? Should we practice more self control and deprive ourselves of things? On today's episode, we highlight some of the benefits of going without. Depriving ourselves of things can create more appreciation, different perspective, and greater tolerance for difficulty.
Matt, Mike, and Rob break down the pros and cons of intentional deprivation. Maybe it's because Matt and Rob are deprived of Mike's presence. Who knows. But at some point, Mike gets real feisty. Listen in and find out. The watch us on youtube and put a face to a voice. Especially if it's Matt's face.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
On this week's episode, Matt and Rob get real lonely without Mike. I mean, it's not like Mike's gone from the show or anything, but he did move and he wasn't on the episode. We had to go eat at a mediocre sandwich shop in Houston without him. It was rough.
Luckily, today's episode is packed with tips to help men overcome, or at least work productively on, depression. We talk about things we tell our clients and things that the more famous experts say. I know. What experts could possibly be more famous than us? Well, apparently y'all haven't spread the Manspace fast enough. Get to work!
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
Spacemen, settle in. On today's episode, we talk about some healthy ways to manage intense emotions and stress. Matt hits the weights and we talk about if that's a good idea or just toxic masculinity. I mean really, at this point, isn't everything a man does considered toxic? Honestly. I don't know how we get through a day.
But we also talk about Mike moving. Which is a real bummer for Matt and Rob. But Spacemen may not even notice since he'll still be on the show. And we also talk quite extensively about the recent Texas Monthly BBQ Fest. Rob went. And don't worry, I've included some links for you BBQ pleasure. Git yer smoke on.

I'm not going to lie, you're going to get really annoyed at the suit metaphor in this episode. Just go watch The Bear and you'll love it. On today's episode, we talk about how couples manage when one person changes in a 'dramatic' way. All people change over time and every couple has to adjust, but sometimes, one person makes a departure from shared beliefs or core couple principles and it's very hard for the other to adjust. It can happen with faith, sexuality, finances, or not understanding Weezer.
So, go watch The Bear on Hulu, then go watch us on Youtube, then come listen and take notes. Then get your soapbox ready to share The Manspace with the masses.

When was the last time you let your kid fall out of a tree? Wait, maybe just climb a tree? Or when was the last time you let your kid drive alone across the country? Never you say? Sounds like someone might be overparenting.
You might know it as helicopter parenting when parents are constantly hovering over their kids to make sure they never get hurt. It's been increasing in parenting over the past few decades. In fact, it's gotten so rampant, we don't even hover from a distance. Now, parents are removing obstacles from their kid's path in what's now called lawnmower parenting. And I mean like, golf greens lawnmowing. But you wouldn't do that, would you? You believe in letting your kid learn for themselves.
Turns out, we might all be doing it more than we thought. But, old reliable Matt, Mike, and Rob break it down for you and help you become a helium-balloon parent that floats off into the ether.
...Maybe not that far, but still a little more distanced. So listen in. Then go out on the corner and preach the good news of The Manspace. And watch our youtube channel dangit! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVTMy5BC9t8mC22rmoDv9tA

Ever worry that you and your partner have nothing in common? What about you and your kids? What do you do if you have no overlapping interests.
The answer is to be more like Matt—a renaissance man. Get interested in EVERYTHING. The key is not sleeping. Like, ever. Learn to master all things and then you can make sure you and your other will for SURE have something in common.
Matt and Mike said I can’t actually tell people to never sleep. Whatever dudes. That’s bush league. Just like your LOOONG conversation about Gilmore Girls.
Anyway, on today’s episode, the Space Captains tackle diverging interests and how to be more involved with the important people in your life. And apparently, you can still do it with a reasonable 8 hours of sleep every night. But honestly, raise your hand if you actually get that many hours of sleep a night. I don’t. Maybe we should do an episode on that. Looks like you’ll have to come back and listen again next time.

Do you remember the rules for I before E? Me neither. Like right there? How come it's neither, but it's also achieve? I'll tell you why. And it's not because English makes no sense. It's because we all need a little balance in our lives. Like, sometimes, imma put that I before the E. Sometimes I'm not. Sometimes, I'm just going to spell it wrong. I can't be bound to one way of thinking and a bunch of rigid rules.
And that is today's episode...if I really stretch it. Matt, Mike, and Rob talked about the Awakened brain vs. the Achieving brain and how thoughtful, spiritual, quiet thinking in designed into our brains. Spoiler alert, if you don't find the right balance, you'll never actually achieve as much as you might want.
So, call your neighbor nieghbor sometimes. It's okay. They probably won't leave a flaming bag of poop on you porch. Then listen to The Manspace and find the balance you've been looking for. Maybe mix it up and watch on youtube. You'll be so balanced people won't even recognize you.

Have you ever noticed how much wisdom is packed into a Seinfeld episode? Or perhaps how much Brian Regan resemble Gandalf the White? Me neither. But perhaps they have some input on why men don't talk the same way women do.
Let's be honest, we're not the best at sharing stuff with each other. So, on today's episode, we attempt to reconcile that. Men need to be a little more curious, for our own good. We also need to be a little more open to where things could go.
Come gather round spacemen, wherever you roam. Open up. Share.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
On todays episode, Rob goes on a bit of a rant. I know, you're not surprised. Here's the thing--in media, we tend to neglect meaningful relationships between men that aren't sexualized.
So what Rob? Shouldn't we also have good examples of romantic relationships between men?
Yes, we should. But does it have to be one or the other? Unfortunately, good examples of masculine, non-romantic love are lacking in media. That means for many men, we feel that any love or desire we feel to be close, even physically, to another man means we are gay. That leads many men to shy away from meaningful expressions of love.
So, come get close to us as we try to untangle this mess so that men can have good examples of positive love, both romantic and not.
Then go watch Good Omens on Prime, Our Flag Means Death on HBO, or RRR on Netflix.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
We've talked before about how it can be hard to like your kids. But, let's be honest--our generation was the last good one. All the ones below ours are just wastes of space with weird ideas and lazy attitudes.
Have you ever considered that that is a common refrain for EVERY generation? We all think the ones below us are doomed. Yet, somehow they keep progressing. So, on today's episode, Matt, Mike, and Rob talk about how to skip the line and get on board now with meeting your kids where they are and accepting who they will become. It sure ain't easy, but doesn't The Manspace always provide? Answer that by watching us on Youtube. My kids still don't accept me.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
Turns out, we did not cure loneliness with our last episode on loneliness. So this time, Matt, Mike, and Rob REALLY look at it. Not like before when we only sort of looked at it. Like, we work to define it so you know if you're lonely or not. In case you couldn't tell before and you need the Manspace to tell you how you feel. And of course we figure out how to overcome it. Spoiler, it takes work.
Apparently loneliness is kind of a huge problem for men. Like huge enough that they are worried it's a major contributing factor to male suicide rates. So, we better figure out how to not be lonely. Start by listening to this episode. Then, share it with your friends. Then, get together and talk about what we talk about on the show. Then, feel lonely no more.

Sup my fellow Kens. Let me start by saying, you are Kenough. Also, The Barbie Movie was super good. If you haven't seen it, shame on you. You call yourself an enlightened man and you haven't even seen Barbie? Do you even fight the patriarchy bro?
I know, Barbie movie is so last month. And I know Barbie movie has been a little controversial. But we here at the Manspace like to wade into the waters of controversy when the ripples have settled and there's no more waves. Safety first, I always say.
Wavy or not, there's a lot to be gained from the movie. Matt, Mike, and Rob talk about their favorite parts, but also why this movie is so valuable for men, not just women. So put on your best Beach Ken outfit and listen in. Then join us as we take down the patriarchy!

Do I love Ted Lasso too much? I mean, how do we define too much? And really, how do we define love? Or even Ted Lasso? He makes us feel good. He makes us better men. Don’t believe me? Watch season 2 episode 8. Seriously. Go watch it right now.
Today, Mike and Rob question their existence without Matt as we talk about S2 E8 of Ted Lasso. There are some strong themes for men in this episode. How we handle pain. How we deal with difficult relationships. How we support each other. It’s got all the stuff. Basically, watch the show, listen to this episode, and become the man you’ve always wanted to be. I defy you not to.
As a side note, I’m not sure how grammatically kosher that last sentence was, but there it is. Love us anyway.

All the single ladies, all the single ladies. So put your hands up. Are those the lyrics? I was never a big beyonce fan. But don't tell her. I hear she has a very fragile ego.
If you're still reading, today's episode is another one explaining why men do stuff. Why they golf? Why they blow stuff up? Mostly, Rob wonders why dudes do this sort of stuff. It's more beautiful than you might think. So give a listen.
But really, give a youtube and watch us. I've been working out and it shows.

Seriously? I'm right all the time anyway. She should just admit, you are always right. I can see you thought this through and whatever conclusion you've come to deserves my admiration and respect.
Spacemen, just read that paragraph above to your wife. Problem sol...what? It didn't work? Huh. That's weird. I thought this through. Why won't you just agree with me?
On today's episode, Matt, Mike, and Rob discuss why we sometimes have a hard time when people disagree with us. Often we might feel threatened or like none of our thoughts or opinions matter if this one doesn't. Luckily, Matt and Mike lay down some truth that will fix ALL your problems. Even that one you've been having with your water softener.
Everything will come true, except forget that last part. And enjoy the episode. And GO WATCH US ON YOUTUBE!!!! Matt's so attractive.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
Yes, this episode is just as riveting as the title implies. Actually, if you're really into personality tests and knowing which Hogwarts house you belong to, this episode is for you. Matt, Mike, and Rob share their results from a few different personality and relational assessments. In a shocking turn of events, Rob doesn't like standardized assessments. Honestly, at this point, I'm a little surprised that guy hasn't sold his house and moved to the woods to live off grid. But, if you can stick with it, you'll find out what we CAN take from these types of assessments and how they can help you be a better man.
If you want to try these assessments yourself, we got links for days...as long as those days aren't longer than 3 links. Try 'em out and see how you fare!

I was going to call this "How to win friends and influence people," but I bet that's already the title of something. On today's episode, Matt, Mike, and Rob break down how to influence the people in your life to shape behaviors and outcomes. Spoiler alert: you should manipulate. Kidding. Don't do that. Even though it says MAN in it, don't do it. You should, however, use love. Cause that's what men do. And luckily, The Manspace is here to help you do that. Listen in.
And WATCH in. Watch on? ...watch with? I don't know, but I do know this--we're on youtube as of this week. So get over there and watch our faces. It'll blow your mind how much Mike and Rob look alike and how both look FAR less attractive than Matt.

Sup bruhs? Who's ready for another episode? Well buckle up. Today, Mike and Rob try to fill the void of Matt and talk about being a father after divorce. Rob gives a LOT of disclaimers. Here's one more: divorce is really freaking hard. In no way are we speaking FOR all men, nor TO all men. We hope this episode will help any man, divorced or not, consider the kind of father they are and the kind of father they want to become. We know that Spacemen are actively engaged in improving themselves. But, Rob does get a little passionate about this topic at points. Fair warning.

Ever feel like men look like idiots in media? Like in commercials we're just bumbling buffoons who can't do anything right (except in Cialis commercials)? I bet you're not. But what if you are the only one trying in your relationship? It for sure feels that way sometimes. On today's episode, Matt has a falling out with Mike and Rob and totally ditches us. Honestly, it's like he doesn't even try anymore. So, Mike and Rob talk about how we can keep going if it feels like we're the only one trying.
We got some real good stuff here. Like, beef jerky, real good type stuff. Get it!

What?! Everyone else is doing stuff on AI, why can't we? You think just because we are 'soft' scientists that we can't dip out toe into the hard sciences deep end? Have you ever considered the societal ramifications of the hard sciences? Well we do. And I bet you've never heard marriage and family therapists talk about AI and its ramifications. Especially in such an entertaining way.
Today, Matt, Mike, and Rob explore how AI might destroy relationships as we know them. Mostly Matt thinks that. He's a bit of a worrier when it comes to AI. I, for one, welcome our computing overlords! All Hail AI!!
Seriously though. AI will likely have a large impact on relationships, at least for a period of time until the power goes out and we all rediscover books. So, listen in to hear how bleak the future will be.

Do our perceptions of what other people think cause us to behave in ways that are, in actuality, not based on what people really think? Do men do certain things because they think that’s what men do? Would you be surprised to find out that a lot of men don’t really want to do those things? Do we create illusions about what groups, cultures, and genders think and believe just because we are afraid to go against the group and say what we actually think and feel?
Basically, are you ready to get all meta up in here? Again? Humans are totally affected by our perceptions. And often what we perceive becomes our reality. Well come journey into the unknown fellow spaceman. Let's consider how we create illusions that drive our perceptions. Matt, Mike, and Rob break it all down in lovely meta-physical bites. Well, probably not really. I'm not even sure I know what that word means. But listen in anyway.

On today's episode, we talk about the right time to get married and have kids. Of course, Rob has an opinion and thinks he's really smart. Seriously, that guy kills me. On today's episode, Matt, Mike, and Rob alleviate your paternal guilt. We all go through times when we don't like our kids. But what if you REALLY don't like your kid? I mean, what's wrong with you? It's a kid! How dare you? You should feel terrible.
OR, you can listen to this episode and see how normal you are. And maybe even hear some things that might help you feel like you can like your kid again. Like, did you know that your influence over your kid drops to below 10% by the time they're 15yo? So, as my friend said, if you're there already, put up your dogs! You're all done!
Okay fine. You're not done yet. But how you interact with your kid has to change. Luckily, we have ALL the answers on how to do that. And my all, I mean we offer a few ideas. You're welcome in advance.
Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
A lot of men try to do good things with good motivations, only to be called insensitive or a jerk. Has that ever happened to you? Well, thankfully, your fellow spacemen are here for you. Matt, Mike, and Rob break down interactions and reframe them. Knowing how to reframe things goes a long way and can really give you a break, not to mention help see your spouse differently.
For example, you could say, Rob is lazy because he doesn't do REAL show notes. And yes, that is one way of looking at it. OR, you could say, Rob is so busy helping people, he doesn't have the time to give to show notes and he can't pay to have them done because he has to buy his kid's braces. Poor Rob.
Another option could be, Rob thinks he's so funny, he just has to keep typing irrelevant crap that people either won't read or if they do, will just think Rob is obnoxiously self absorbed. Poor Rob.
Either way, poor Rob. He's got it really hard.
See? Wasn't that a helpful exercise? Now you like The Manspace better. Better get out there and preach the good word!

Research shows boys are falling behind, almost across the board. Not just falling behind girls, but falling behind expectations and development. Sometimes all the ways men show love go unnoticed. Maybe you consistently take out the trash. Or always make sure the car is full of gas. Or, if you're Rob, maybe you make sure you are not infringing on copyright, because creation matters. No matter how you give love, I bet there are times it's not noticed and that sucks.
On today's episode, Matt, Mike, and Rob break down how men give and receive love. There's not always grand gestures, but there is often consistency in the love men offer. I bet you're good at that. Yes, you Spaceman. You gem of a man you.
And now, Rob does what is now offered to us through AI, cause I'm not going to be taken over by a machine.
00:35--Mike smoothly welcomes us
03:48--Rob chickens out on playing copyrighted material
45:26--Rob probably makes a bad joke and makes fun of Mike...probably.
52:3..you know what, this is hard. Maybe I should lean into AI. I, for one, welcome our supreme overlords.
Also, the clip for New Girl is listed here. Look. That's personal attention to detail. We love you spacemen. Now love us back, or else how will we know that we are even?

Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!

Anyway. this week, we miss Matt again as Mike and Rob discuss past relationships and how they come up in our current one. Many couples struggle to manage past relationships and even outside friendships with the opposite sex. Spread the word! The Manspace is Rad!!
This week, Matt, Mike, and Rob break down the tired phrase to determine why we feel we need to be right. Not "we" in the Matt, Mike, and Rob sense, but "we" like Spacemen. You get it, right? Point is, sometimes we get a little focused on being right or justifying ourselves and it gets in the way of communication. Maybe we should figure out what it means to communicate well. I bet we have an answer. We always do. We're as reliable as an Oldsmobile.
