Welcome to the third episode of the LooseKeys podcast! On this episode Brad, Jake & Ethan are all in the LooseKeys office together! With Ethan leaving LooseKeys and joining the freelance world it seemed like a good idea to chat about working from home. Over the last year and half, Jake has been working remote for LooseKeys in Michigan and has felt the ups and downs of working from home. Learning to deal with the isolation is important especially in a business where so much of your time is spent working alone in front of a computer.

In this first LooseKeys podcast, the crew discusses how you know when it’s time to end a project; that could be a long-term project or just a short series you’ve been working on. Having an end or deadline often allows you to focus but it’s hard to toss in the towel when you’ve been doing an everyday series or long-term project. Is there a right time?

This Week In LooseKeys - Toon Talk 200

View Details

This past week we have been busy with a handful of client work at LooseKeys and unfortunately haven’t had much time for the internal animated short we’ve been working on. Since there isn’t much to report on the project this week, we decided to instead pick up some donuts from Stan’s Donuts and get inspired. If you’re looking for some animation or illustration talk here you might be disappointed because this week it’s all about some good old fashioned donut talk.

We are slowly chipping away at our new passion project at the office. In this second look at our animated short “Doughnut to Donut” we dive into creating the characters and defining the art style.

At LooseKeys we have a lot of internal ideas we’re always kicking around, whether it’s new podcasts or some animated shorts we’d like to develop. The biggest issue is always time. Client work needs to come first but that doesn’t means you can’t find a few minutes or hours during the week to work on internal projects.

We’re starting work this week on an animated short about the history of donuts. This was the brainchild of Jake Williams and he’ll be the one to make sure the team eats many donuts while working on this video over the next few weeks. Enjoy the first look at how this project is shaping up and what you can expect to see from LooseKeys as we move forward.

Looking to learn a little more about what goes into the projects at LooseKeys?

In this LooseKeys project recap, Ethan Barnowsky joins Brad Chmielewski and Jake Williams to talk about creating three animated videos for Good360. It’s always a pleasure working with charities to help get their message out. For these explainer videos, we focused on creating the first video to use as the base for the other two. The client had very few changes on each video so it was a breeze to work with the template we created for the first one. When you’re working on a series of videos like these its always important to make sure you have your projects well organized.

Looking to learn a little more about what goes into the projects at LooseKeys?

In this LooseKeys project recap, Ethan Barnowsky joins Brad Chmielewski and Jake Williams to talk about creating the animated video for Signal. For this explainer video, with worked with the very talented Drew Pocza to help with the illustrations. It was a different experience working with someone else that wasn’t involved in the animation to help with the artwork. Being about doughnut this project was very close to us and we spend a lot of imd making sure every sprinkle was just right and that all those fun chewing animation were as realistic as possible. Telling a story like this is why we love it doesn’t focus too heavily on the video but allows us to capture this work and show off how this product can make your like easier.

In this LooseKeys project recap, Ethan Barnowsky joins Brad Chmielewski and Jake Williams to talk about creating the animated video for OpenMarq. For this explainer video, we had some issues early on with getting the overall message correct. After 10 versions of the script we finally were on the right track and moved on to the design and animation which ended up going a lot smoother. This was a great project that reminded us about how important communication is with your clients.

In this LooseKeys project recap, Ethan Barnowsky joins Brad Chmielewski and Jake Williams to talk about creating the animated video for ChefShopper. For this explainer video, Jake took care of the illustration and storyboards and we broke out the video into individual scenes that we all could tackle one at a time. We all had a chance to work on just about every scene at some point throughout the project. We love the look of this video and had a blast working with this client. They trusted us to deliver a great video and had very few comments or changes.
