Pastor Gavin concludes our study of the Book of Ezra with a study of Chapter 10. The sermon is followed by a Question and Answer time (about three-quarters of the way through the video) in which he answers some questions submitted earlier in the day and the week. Including the Q&A session, this video is longer than most in this series, but you won't want to miss a minute of it.
This sermon devotional was recorded via Facebook Live because the snow shut down our physical worship gathering.

Jesus was "taken up in glory". Glory is defined as beauty, or the accomplishment of a great work and the praise you get for that. Jesus has both. Because Jesus saved us, he is worthy of worship. And when his story becomes our story, it changes our worth, our works, and our world.
"Proclaimed Among the Nations" isn't just what happened after Jesus sent out his people - It's a fact that Jesus came as a savior for all peoples and nations. This gospel that was proclaimed was believed by many all over the world, as people trust in the savior of their souls, who entered into their sorrows.
The people of God are tasked to pray all kinds of prayers for all kinds of people, including rulers. Is prayer antiquated, or does prayer have an effect? And what does this calling of the church reveal about the nature of God and Jesus?
In Paul's opening, we learn important information about the author himself as well as about Timothy, the young man receiving these words. Although this is addressed to Timothy, reading this letter benefits everyone for is was written with God's authority and contains powerful truths about who God is and who we are because of it. Specifically, the sermon addresses grace, mercy, and peace from God. Even though this section of scripture is short, it communicates that we are not irrelevant to God for he cares deeply for us and wants to save us.
Before we officially begin the new teaching series, we ask this question: Why was this book written? We find that Paul's purpose in writing 1 Timothy is to give the church a vision to its actual purpose, identity, and life. When Jesus redeems the church its existence will be marked not by irrelevance or danger, but necessity for the Christian faith.
In the final sermon of the Proverbs Series we look at what one specific woman does to apply wisdom to her life. Her example to us is that if we apply wisdom in all of our life, we will see the thriving that is offered by the way of wisdom.
