Get ready for an inspiring episode of Elements of Community! We're chatting with Alessandra Wall, a leading career coach with a background in clinical psychology. Her mission is to support women in attaining senior leadership positions in their careers – and we can't wait to hear what she has to say. Buckle up and tune in for a discussion that will leave you feeling motivated and empowered!
Alessandra emphasizes the importance of social capital, which refers to the benefits that individuals and organizations can derive from their social networks. It includes the resources, information, and connections that can be obtained through relationships and trust built within a network.
Building social capital is not just about having a large network but also nurturing relationships within it. Alessandra created an online community through Slack for her clients to connect with each other, share ideas, and create opportunities for one another. By creating a space for her clients to interact with each other, Alessandra was able to facilitate the building of relationships within her network and encourage collaboration and support among members.
In this community, Alessandra helps foster a sense of community and connection among members. She implemented several activities to promote engagement and relationship building, including weekly Monday Motivations and Friday Wins to encourage conversation, accountability calls to support members in their goals, and peer advisory calls to facilitate sharing and learning. A common language of "Common Heart" was developed to emphasize the importance of honesty, vulnerability, and care for others.
Through these activities, Alessandra's clients were empowered to support each other in the pursuit of their goals. Members could leverage their social capital to help each other in small but meaningful ways, such as borrowing a cup of sugar or a loan of money from a trusted friend.
Overall, building social capital is an important aspect of building and maintaining a successful network. By nurturing relationships within one's network and fostering a sense of community, individuals can leverage their social capital to obtain valuable resources and opportunities, while also providing support and help to others within their network.
Other subjects we covered on the show:* We discussed how essential social capital is for humans to survive and thrive. * Alessandra highlighted the importance of women building social capital with each other through mutual support and vulnerability, emphasizing the power of relationships in fostering personal growth and achievement. * Lastly, Alessandra provided an interesting response to one of the curve ball questions—if you got to invite x many people to a dinner party, who are the three people you'd wanna sit down with?

Prepare for a thrilling adventure into the realm of community-building with the remarkable Kimberly Wiefling! Join us in this enthralling episode of Elements of Community as we uncover the secrets behind this dynamic entrepreneur and community champion's unshakable faith in the power of connection to propel both people and enterprises to unparalleled heights of success.
Community is far more than a group of people collaborating together; when supported by a common purpose and shared values, it can become an incredibly powerful force for positive change. Kimberly Wieffling understands this intimately, advocating that optimism and hope are essential for building a stronger society.
Michael Manning, the celebrated bass soloist, serves as a prime example of this -- using music to simultaneously bring joy and unity to generations of listeners. But making such changes requires knowledgeable leadership - those with the vision to recognize what communities need and take action when necessary.
Herein lies the rub: research shows that despite great leaders' value, they can also be drastically underappreciated in terms of pay - leading fewer and fewer to pursue these roles. Nevertheless, strong communities must be founded on principles of mutual understanding and respect if they're to enjoy sustainable success - ideally guided not by profits but by the betterment of individuals within them.
Community is a powerful concept when allied with shared values, purpose, and leadership— Kimberly Wieffling knows this well.
Other subjects we covered on the show:* Kimberly shares the communities she has built everywhere; one of those communities is the one she hosted in Redwood City. * We agreed that global English is the common language people must learn on Earth. * Kimberly recommends clear communication with words and body language to make meaningful connections. She also notes that email often leads to misinterpretation due to a lack of tonality. * She shared her unique thoughts about leadership and used the analogy of geese. * Lastly, Kimberly answered the curve ball question—what to you seems impossible today, but if possible, would it transform your life, community, and world for the better?

Have you ever heard the saying it takes a village to raise a child? The same principle can be applied to achieving success in life. This episode of Elements of Community explores how having meaningful connections with other women is essential for helping us reach our goals and dreams, no matter what they may be! Learn why creating lasting relationships within your community can be an invaluable tool for your path toward self-improvement and achievement.
Espree is a true artist who places integrity in her work when creating meaningful experiences for her community. She aims to help people build better connections and move towards becoming closer to their goals, free of fear.
Espree understands that social proof can be abused, often focusing too heavily on numbers as a success metric rather than our human relationships. As a leader, she believes that the basis of a great community relies upon fostering an environment where everyone feels included and respected throughout the process.
Pop-up communities provide us with unique opportunities to strengthen friendships, as Espree discovered through her involvement with Clubhouse--a platform dedicated to celebrating women and providing an open space for everyone’s voice to be heard. The power behind these kinds of communities lies in holding onto that sense of purpose long after it's over.

Akasha Skaldeman, our special guest on this Elements of Community podcast episode, dives deep into how to create a strong sense of community. From unifying connections to exploring what it takes for individuals and groups to bond together, prepare for an engaging conversation about building meaningful relationships!
Connection is essential to Akasha and her village community, whose members come together regularly to practice activities such as ecstatic dance, meditation with singing bowls, and invigorating yoga. She sees that cooperation within a community is the only way for everyone to ensure survival without individually preparing with limited resources.
Akasha firmly believes that prepping alone can only get you so far and that establishing collective support systems between fellow community members will foster resilience during difficult times. Connection with others provides an invaluable resource - not only on a physical basis but also an emotional one.
As far as leadership within community settings goes, Akasha states that it is most effective when there is clear prioritization when it comes to young people and when a loving yet consistent attitude is displayed by leaders. It also helps when authority roles are shared in the community so that no individual is burdened with too much responsibility. The connection among its members builds strong communities where everyone feels valued.
Other subjects we covered on the show:* Akasha has tapped into a remarkable power - the authority of being a grandmother - to keep her family connected and united despite conflicting opinions. * She also discussed how dancing could be used to activate one's superpower. * Then, Akasha talked about a project that would create a community-run co-op store where people could buy food at reduced prices in exchange for five hours of work per week. * Lastly, Akasha shared the meaning of her name with a twinkle in her eye, like she was sheltering an ancient secret.

Lucas Root and Sara Polak, on the Elements of Community podcast, explore how complexity can naturally take root in our lives through community; dive deep into what it is; its importance for us all, and even better - how to make sure we are fostering safe communities that embody positivity!
Could blockchain be the key to unlocking a new way of life for communities around the world? Sara believes so! She pointed out, according to Robin Dunbar's research, cognitive capacity limits all communities – however, this could be broken through technology such as Blockchain.
By utilizing decentralized networks for peer-to-peer communication between members trading goods or behaviors and interdisciplinary learning from AI tech, web three technologies, and anthropology/philosophy among other topics, we may witness a post-industrial model where people no longer feel obligated by nine-to-five jobs, freeing them up for more time to enjoy their lives with creativity at its center.
Imagine a future where virtual reality enables us to test out our wildest ideas with none of the dangerous repercussions. Where no matter who you are, what ethnic background or income bracket, information is available at your fingertips and knowledge truly becomes power! With technology constantly evolving around us, new possibilities arise for enriching communities everywhere.
Other subjects we covered on the show:* Sara dives into Plato's Republic, depicting a world in which the ultimate goal is to create an ideal master race through arranged marriages. It perfectly paints a picture of what it could be like if we had no freedom or rights when it comes to making our own decisions! * She paints a beautiful picture of an ideal community leader who grants people genuine liberty to express themselves without worrying about any repercussions or manipulations. * They also agreed in a discussion that humans have the potential to work together in a way that is extraordinary, unlike tigers who are solitary. * Sara encourages curiosity, respect for different opinions, and open dialogue about important issues. * Finally, she offered her unique perspective on what the future holds for her community.

Today on Elements of Community, Scott Wilder joins us and explores why communities matter and how they can foster growth. He attributed forming meaningful connections with others as a major factor in fostering individual development; knowledge-sharing strengthens skillsets while offering fresh perspectives to progress one's career endeavors!
Scott has dedicated the past 25 years of his life to working in tech companies, and now, with Base as head of the Community Advocacy Resources and Education (CARE) team, he is on a mission to raise the bar in customer marketing automation.
Community means more than just helping people with product questions or how-to’s. It is also nurturing their craft and accelerating growth in their career paths. To help make this goal a reality, Scott created the CLG campus. This space serves as an open-source resource center where practitioners can share courses and host office hours and live sessions to educate one another on customer-led growth initiatives in groups.
In this way, Scott hopes to create an environment where individuals from customer-facing roles can come together and learn from one another while working towards bettering each other's skillset to propel them forward in their careers.
Other subjects we covered on the show:* Scott discussed the importance of having a common purpose and that having a goal is key to bringing people together in a community. * He also recommends entrepreneurs or small businesses take an inventory of what's working and what's not every 30 days in order to pivot quickly if needed. * Additionally, he suggests considering the addressable audience size when launching a new initiative in order to ensure success. * Scott emphasizes the importance of loving who you work with by focusing on finding people who align with your values and mission statement during job searches or hiring processes. * Lastly, Scott answers the curveball question—what are the things we should be thinking about in terms of where community is headed this year and next?

Lucas Root had the distinct opportunity to sit down with Sandi Boucher, an expert in Indigenous recruitment/retention and Canadian Reconciliation. As they talked about community building, their conversation illuminated how meaningful connections can be crafted from adversity - a truly inspiring message for us all!
Sandi Boucher's insightful story speaks to the importance of having a supportive community. Sandi and Lucas discussed how a village alone is not enough to constitute a true community - one must also be responsible for recognizing that community within the village and contributing something back.
She showed how she achieved greater authenticity and security through the power of supportive people. Delanea Davis is disrupting the healing community, making waves with her mission to provide a supportive space for healers and their journey of personal enrichment. Tune in as she shares how it all began on an episode of the Elements of Community podcast!
Delanea Davis has provided her community with a remarkable gift - the power of connection. Community "Healing for Healers" is a living example of how just one person can impact the lives of many.
By hosting meetings every third Sunday, Delanea creates an experience where members come together to share and heal. Attendees bring dishes to share before participating in a light meditation which is followed by intuitive messages that are given by a chosen member each time in four minutes.
In creating this safe and sacred space, Delanea enables individuals to feel comfortable being vulnerable, giving, and loving - reflective of her own inspiration when writing her first book about runes; she described Freya as being “gorgeous” but also “mighty” - embodying both love and power simultaneously.
The extent of Community Healing's potential is seen through its people who, when unified in their healing efforts, create remarkable results like hospital stays ending days earlier than expected without any discernible explanation as to why. It is because of Davis' vision that this community is what it is today; an empowering reminder that collective energy brings about extraordinary change.
Other subjects we covered on the show:* Delanea shared how even those aged 16 can be considered elders in this circle due to their wisdom beyond their years – making it possible for them to become part of this council too! * She also shared some interesting things happening in her business and how she called on crafty moms to help her out with the production demands. * Then, Delanea explained how her Council of Elders uses force multipliers in their private group chat for specific needs such as healing or abundance. * Lastly, we discussed what ancestral trauma is all about, and gave some ways for this kind of trauma to be healed.

Penny Power is an entrepreneur and community builder who has been working in the tech sector since 1983. She believes that technology has disconnected us from our human needs, leading to increased loneliness and mental health issues. For this reason, she has dedicated her life to community building and authoring books on the subject – including Business is Personal – which was published in 1998.
In this episode of Elements of Community Podcast, I interview Penny Power about community building and social media. Penny believes that the term "community" is often misused to describe groups that aren't actually communities; community building takes servant leadership and it can be difficult for companies to create a real community if they are only doing it for their own gain. Penny believes that it's everyone's responsibility to make other people feel seen, noticed, and connected in order to build a successful community.
Penny's own community project – Business Is Personal 100 – works on creating meaningful connections between members of the community. The project encourages members to take initiative by setting goals for each other as well as offering support through monthly 90-minute drop-in Masterminds. This type of community growth allows individuals within the group to rise together, rather than focusing solely on one person’s success at the expense of others.
Penny recognizes that not all businesses succeed when it comes to community building, but she emphasizes the importance of social capital over financial capital in order for businesses to thrive; connecting with real people is key! Above all else, Penny advises people that despite any adversity that may come their way, taking control of your life and focusing on what matters most will bring you happiness in the end.
Listeners interested in learning more about community building should tune into this episode of Elements Of Community Podcast featuring Penny Power: an entrepreneur who believes that business should be personal! Learn how Penny has found success through adversity when facing extreme challenges, as well as her tips for connecting with real people while developing long-lasting relationships and fostering growth within a community.
Other subjects we covered on the show:* How she and her husband built the world's first social network. * How they went from being multi-millionaires to having to start over. * What servant leadership really is and how it helps build community and social capital. * How it’s society's responsibility to make every member feel connected and noticed. * And much more.

In Episode 29 of The Elements of Community Podcast, Lucas Root invites listeners to explore the concept of community and adulthood through an unconventional lens. Root suggests that physical maturity is not the primary indicator of adulthood in humans; rather, it is skills mastery. He goes on to explain that community has a greater role to play when it comes to human development than other animals, and he proposes five key skills that define adulthood: complex communication, fluid leadership, teamwork, strategy, and coaching.
Root then dives into how community plays a part in the four times a woman's life when she is or can be infertile: childhood (when men and women share it), peak athlete phase (where fertility is turned off by choice), pregnancy (where fertility is naturally switched off) and menopause (when fertility is turned off forever). He explains that each point has its own story and strategy behind it which can only be understood if looked at through a lens of community as one of humanity's basic needs. This narrative aims to explain why humans have such a long period before they become fertile compared to other animals and how society's approach towards menopause is misguided - instead of woman losing her status in society, it should be seen as women entering their best years where they can serve their community at their fullest potential.
Overall, Root argues that community is essential to understanding human biology. To illustrate this point further, he draws attention to elder pillars in the community who can help shed light on this subject - specifically women. As part of his mission for 2021, Root hopes to create 50 episodes featuring these pillars as guests on his show where they can discuss concepts like adulthood, the strategy of infertility in women, and understanding community as a whole.
Root encourages listeners to engage with him help him find elder women who are Pilars of their communities. You can nominate an elder woman with the form located here. If you're interested in learning about how the five elements of community form our basic understandings of adulthood, infertility, leadership, and especially the power of women then this podcast episode is definitely worth tuning into!
Other subjects we covered on the show:* Lucas has proposed a framework for what it means to be an adult human, which is not necessarily based on age. * How physical maturity does not define adulthood in humans, but rather skills maturity does and the five skills that define adulthood include: complex communication, fluid leadership, teamwork, strategy, & coaching. * Lucas discusses how the four times in a woman's life when she is or can be infertile are actually a strategic aspect of community. Those times are: childhood (when men and women share it), peak athlete phase (where fertility is turned off by choice), pregnancy (where fertility is naturally switched off) and menopause (when fertility is turned off forever). * Lucas, the show host, is grateful to all those who showed up throughout the season one journey - listeners & guests alike - as they look forward to season two, which will focus on stories around relationships that we call cherish: the relationship of the Grandmother to their community.

In the 28th episode of the Elements of Community podcast, host Lucas Root interviews Pedram Shojai, author of eight books, a senior student of Kung Fu, and a Doctor of Oriental Medicine who left medicine to write books and make films.
During the episode, Pedram shares insight on his community-building practices and what it takes to self-improvement in meaningful ways. He talks about how consumers have been duped by people in the self-improvement industry by “douchebags” (a term he uses to describe people who are trying to get your attention in order to extract something from you). To avoid falling into their traps, Pedram advocates for a practice of mindfulness and meditation as a way to become aware of the harmful tendency to stay in an “avoidance of pain” loop and shorten that loop so we can improve more quickly.
Pedram further believes self-improvement is the key to helping the world in a meaningful way – this is what drives him to keep improving himself and building community. In his communities, he has established ground rules and a common narrative framework for members to share their goals and experiences related with personal development, spiritual growth, emotional healing, or physical health. As community leader he ultimately wants his community to be self-governing instead of relying on him. He also shares his thoughts on how power can corrupt even the best of us because it is easy for us to become extraction oriented instead of wanting to help others.
In this episode, Lucas and Pedram further discuss how having a common language within a community creates efficiencies that elevate conversations from surface-level discussions toward more complex ideas and discussions.
This conversation will give you profound insights into community-building strategies, and mindful practices, as well as why it is important not only to focus on our own selfish goals but to help others in meaningful ways. Tune in now to hear how a former monk builds community in our modern world!
Other subjects we covered on the show:* We talked about how self-improvement helps the world in a meaningful way, and how this drives him to keep building communities. * Pedram shares how he created a community with ground rules and a common narrative framework. * He also shares his thoughts on how power can corrupt even the best of us, and urges people to stay focused on what is important to them. * Pedram talks about his community project called Gut Check, which is all about the microbiome. * Lastly, we discussed the power of having a common language inside of a community because of the efficiencies it creates and how it up-levels our ability to have a complex conversation.

Barry has been in the film and TV industry for more than 25 years, and he's seen firsthand how those who are successful use community to create transformation. That's why he's now focused on building a community of people who are oriented towards making positive change in the world. He named this community Dreaming For A Living, and it's become a place where people from all walks of life can come together to celebrate being alive and learn from each other.
The members of this community are very clear about what they don't want, as well as, forming a vision for what kind of community they do want. Those who don't fit in energetically or focus-wise, self-sort out, leaving room for those who share their values to find kinship within the group.
For Barry, the value or currency of his events is not turning attendees into clients, but rather forming relationships with like-minded professionals. He has likened his own life to that of a filmmaker who films the same story over and over until he gets it right - only with different characters and settings. From this insight he realized that if he was going to be successful at creating meaningful change in the world, he needed a supportive community around him that would help him stay focused and motivated throughout his journey.
When Barry went back home to Australia last year with his parents, it made him realize something - when you're alone in an unfamiliar place, your best bet is to look online for kindred spirits. This epiphany pushed him to create a relaxed networking event upon returning home to Los Angeles, one where attendees could connect casually without having to talk business. The point of the Dreaming for a Living mixer was simply to relax, get to know each other on an individual level and have some fun along the way!
As Barry continued developing this amazing online community full of purpose-driven change-makers from all around the globe. He made sure, however, not to lose sight of his own core values as an effective leader, responsibility for one's actions, and celebrating successes big or small. It is also important for him that work remains enjoyable so members don't get discouraged too easily along their journey.
With all these pieces coming together perfectly into place, Barry couldn't be more thrilled about how far this global network has come in such a short amount of time since its inception! Now people from all over can access inspiring courses, retreats and public speaking engagements through this awesome platform to make meaningful changes in their lives as well as those around them!
Join Barry by listening to his interview on Elements of Community as he dives deep into everything we've been talking about here - Dreaming For A Living - because you won't want to miss out on such an incredible story!
Other subjects we covered on the show:* We talked about how the people who are most successful use community to create transformation. * We chatted for a bit on how the best communities are very clear on what they don't want to work towards creating what they want their community to be. * Lastly, we discussed about how common language and kinship are what makes a community. * And much more!

Join us to hear the remarkable story of Richard Matthews, an adventurous father of four who travels full-time in an RV, while still managing his company, PushButtonPodcasts, and hosting his podcast called The HERO Show, where he's recorded more than 225 episodes from the road. Listen to this inspiring journey on The Elements on Community podcast today!
We covered a ton of interesting topics like how true connection with others is built through intention, not simply sharing an address, and how this relates to building community while traveling full-time. We explored how fostering intimacy within a community allows us to connect in more meaningful ways and how removing our masks can increase the effectiveness of a community's common purpose. We also talked about how Richard's mastermind proves this concept by vulnerably talking about micro-failures each week and leveraging those into opportunities for growth instead, a practice made possible by intentionally creating intimacy in their community.
Don't miss out on one of the most fascinating parts of our conversation where Richard shared his experience as part of a murder trial jury recently, and got to see firsthand how the "Heart" of community was reflected in each part of the process - from jury selection, to judge, to attorneys, to court clerks, and even the deliberation room. This conversation was an inspiring insight into the impact that real communities can have in the real world.
If you're looking for an inspiring story on how to live life more intentionally and how to develop deeper community in your life, then you need to listen to this episode of Elements of Community.
Here are some of the other things we covered during our conversation:* We talked about how Richard's advice for anyone who wants to live life more intentionally is to take the risks you’ve been vacillating on - because taking action is what makes us ready. * We talked about the importance of our language frameworks in accomplishing any sort of goal because it allows us to communicate better. * We talked about how Community leaders must care about the people in their community and know their motivations for being a part of the community. * We talked about how “The Common Purpose” of a community is important for its effectiveness and how intimacy has an impact on both. * And so much more, you don’t want to miss this one.

I am your host, Lucas Root, and in this episode, we are going to talk about building community inside corporates, and private marketplaces. Joining me in this episode is Thomas Power.
Thomas Power believes in Community Led Growth (CLG) supporting people to grow themselves, their health, their mind, their business, and increase their organization. All three of their children support them in their endeavor of Community Building.
Thomas and his wife Penny have been building communities online for more than 30 years.
Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:Why Does Thomas Love Community Building?Thomas mentioned that community building is his favorite thing to do, it is what he is passionate about, and ultimately what he will do on his final day.
The reason behind his love for community building is because he enjoys making connections that other people can't see.
Supporting People Through Love & MoneyThomas said, "You can effectively build intimacy as a service that results in better outcomes, which includes making more money for deals, because I know people have got to make money."
What Thomas and Penny are trying to do is to support people through love and money, so they will get all the love and support for the issues they face.
Other subjects we covered on the show:* Who are the people unsuitable for community building? * What is the main challenge with organizations these days? * Why do businesses need to be personal? * The reason why common language should be reincorporated into us living our daily lives. * Which one of the elements of community would Thomas pick to drive his community forward? * Lastly, the curveball question—why does it take so long to get from CSC to ORS?

Welcome to Elements of Community! I am your host, Lucas Root, and in this episode, we are going to talk about how science-based tools help a community express humanity again. Joining me in this episode is Dr. Chris Lee. Dr. Chris Lee is the founder and CEO of https://drchrislee.com/ (Elemental Shift)—a neuroscience-based consulting company educating on brain-based creativity, productivity, motivation, and research-based strategy for a healthier mindset. Dr. Chris has consulted with 8 figure stockbrokers on Wall Street to technology companies in California using custom biometric and neurofeedback data to build more resilient companies from the inside out. He has proudly served over 3,500 individuals and is currently working on getting his neuroscience-backed mindfulness technique into United States Prison systems. Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:About Wired For Worthy CommunityDr. Chris Lee has built out a community called Wired For Worthy which is focused on the purpose of giving science-based tools to help express humanity again. Humanity, which means showing up with a period, not a comma. How Does Wired For Worthy Create Actual Community?"A huge part of a community is having a directed vision of where you want people to start and where you want them to go," says Dr. Chris. For Dr. Chris, Wired For Worthy creates an actual community through leadership, and it's not a leadership of a singular person, but leadership through a purpose served. He continued by saying, “When you serve your purpose, you feel it in the way somebody shows up to take the trash out like it's something that is more embodied versus something that is done.” Other subjects we covered on the show:What makes a great community leader? How does one of the elements of community show up in Wired for Worthy? How does Dr. Chris build and support “Purpose” in Wired for Worthy? The curveball question—how good are you at asking yourself questions and answering honestly?

Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:Defining CommunityFor Cam community means having that sense of belongingness and safety. She added on saying, “Every human being's fundamental need is to belong and it's probably one of the biggest things that we neglect and we are not fully aware of, which is how we end up having games and terrorism because they're using the psychology of belonging”. She says that when the community is used correctly and built with good intentions as a way to help people and to bring people together, it can absolutely be life-changing and can create some great things. About Devine Feminine CommunityCam is currently building a community very slowly and very organically. She calls the community Divine Feminine Community, it started out of a space where she can bring women together, empower one another and uplift one another. Divine Feminine Community is more of a very authentic, close-knit community of women, where they can come with whatever they have, and the community is there to love, accept and help them. At the moment the community is like an online group where they meet online every month, and every now and then they meet in person if they are in the LA area. Cam helps these women conquer challenges through coaching. Other subjects we covered on the show:Cam’s thoughts about the difference between community sucking up your time from social media sucking up your time. How would people know they have found a real community? Cam’s additional thoughts about the idea of safety in a community. Why should all communities feel a sense of safety? Is it possible to be loved and supported and still have a transactional model in place? What are Cam’s thoughts about leadership in the community? Cam deep dives into what self-awareness means to her. We discussed one of the elements of community which is the common heart. A zinger question—what's the biggest wound you've healed?

Welcome back to Elements of Community! Today we are joined by Robb Wolf and we are chatting about how to bridge the gap between “The Virtual” & “The Real” in a community. Robb Wolf is a former research biochemist and 2X New York Times/Wall Street Journal Best-selling author of https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0982565844/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=robb0b-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=0982565844&linkId=90dcb70995021110ba1b759fc7fe9176 (The Paleo Solution) andhttps://www.amazon.com/Wired-Eat-Cravings-Appetite-Determine/dp/0451498569/ref=as_li_ss_tl?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1481157465&sr=1-1&keywords=wired+to+eat&linkCode=sl1&tag=wte-website-20&linkId=189f43808496fab741aada8996506b6e ( Wired To Eat). Along with Diana Rodgers, he co-authored the book, https://www.amazon.com/Sacred-Cow-Case-Better-Meat/dp/B0899FLWND/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=sacred+cow&qid=1657214784&s=books&sr=1-1 (Sacred Cow), which explains why well-raised meat is good for us and good for the planet. Robb has transformed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people around the world via his https://robbwolf.com/radio/ (top-ranked iTunes podcast), books, and seminars. He also co-founded the 1st and 4th CrossFit affiliate gyms in the world, https://join.thehealthyrebellion.com/ (The Healthy Rebellion community platform), and is the co-founder of https://drinklmnt.com/ (DrinkLMNT) Electrolytes. Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:What Makes a Good Community Leader?Learning to foster Healthy Rebellion in the community brings a certain willingness to share and a ton of emotional intelligence to the community members. It's not that the people uniformly roll over during conflict, but having people in the community that stoke the fires of conflict and keep that going can help bring the community together. The members of his community are good at acknowledging what's going on. For example, if somebody needs a little bit of tough love, they get some tough love, but it's done in a way that's honest instead of judgemental. An Element of Community that Shows up in Healthy RebellionOne of the elements of the community that makes Healthy Rebellion stronger is the common language. Robb raises the idea of the military, which is one of the places people can wrap their heads around when it comes to common language. In Healthy Rebellion there was this big catch-up process between people that had this resilience mindset that they were able to foster. The processing was super quick and that's because everybody knows they had support and is using a common language around that. Other subjects we covered on the show:Does each and every member of a community have at least two roles? How does Healthy Rebellion help a member of their community that is in need? How else do people notice they come together through a trial? More about Robb’s product which is LMNT.

Listen to Elements of Community today as Lucas Root talks about a tale of two communities; one is a real story and the other is an idealized version of an alternate universe with a different result. Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:A Moment of Relative GlorySeveral years into our marriage, we bought a house in New Jersey moved in, threw a party, and bought new furniture. We were very delighted. After about six months of living there, our health had been steadily declining. We were seeking for experts to help us understand what was going on with our health, which suggested that it probably was environmental. We went to all of the top environmental doctors in the New York and New Jersey area. On the other end of it, we had received diagnoses like, you are addicted to heroin, you have the metabolism of a 90-year-old man and you obviously have brain issues. None of those were accurate or useful in the sense that they told us where we were at that moment but didn't help us arrive at a solution to that problem. It took us another month or two to self-diagnose the problem, which we did mostly by accident. It was a diagnosis of elimination, that leaves us with only one thing. If it’s environmental, the only way to test it is to go on a vacation. My wife and I went on an extended vacation in San Diego and within two days, without making any other meaningful changes in our life, we started to feel better. By the end of the first week, We knew that that diagnosis of elimination was accurate or at least something about it. We then went back to New Jersey, going back to the place where environmentally, the suggestion here is that, we were putting ourselves in harm's way, and in fact, in hindsight, that's correct. We also went back to those same specialists and shared with them our diagnosis, our reasoning, our logic, and our approach, then asked them to help us solve it. Those same specialists said the same thing they had the first time around. Needless to say, we fired our doctors, we also left the house, lost our jobs, and spent the next year trying to recover. It was devastating. We lost an enormous amount of money, lost money and equity in our house, and lost the down payment. The bank foreclosed. We spent money on Airbnbs because we couldn't even rent an apartment with a recent foreclosure on our records. We spent money on doctors. We spent money on food, and neither one of us was able to work or earn a living. A year later, I was finally in a position where I could land a job and start the business that I now run. We were not in the house anymore. Our brains were starting to turn back on. We were starting to be able to be some sort of real human, and the entire problem was a hidden black mold that we could not see in the house we had purchased and moved into. As I mentioned, what should have been a moment of glory, a moment of wonderful happiness, a moment of stepping into truly what we thought of as the American dream, but instead we were stepping into our own nightmares. Other subjects we covered on the show:The alternate version of the story. What is the importance of having a community?
Welcome to Elements of Community! I am your host, Lucas Root, and in this episode, we are going to talk about how Prowess Community takes women from home to hired. Joining me in this episode is Ashley Connell. Ashley is the CEO & Founder of https://prowessproject.com/ (Prowess Project)—an integrated job, training, and community platform, that exists to help caregiving women return to the workforce. They have a 70% placement rate to date for women who complete their up-skilling programs, and 94% of their employers agree that they provide a better candidate/role fit, while cutting their hiring and ramp-up time in half. Their job-matching algorithm matches the compatibility of candidates and team based on skills, expertise, and behavior-style compatibility. They shortlist the top candidates best for YOU in as little as 48 hours. Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:How Prowess Project Community Started? After graduating from The University of Texas at Austin, Ashley spent twelve years in tech marketing and entrepreneurship. Since women's empowerment has always been very important to Ashley, especially in the workplace. One of the most significant issues that continued to baffle her was women are pressured to choose between their career and their kids. Why are the only mainstream options – continue a 40+ hour workweek or stop working completely to become a caretaker? Out of the frustration that a “gray area” didn’t exist, Prowess Project was born. In the fall of 2018, Ashley joined an accelerator called Founders Institute which jolted Prowess Project into existence. The more she spoke to frustrated, overwhelmed business owners and experienced, educated women who want to get back into the workforce, the more she felt compelled to bring this to life, and with the support of her friends and family, she’s doing just that. What Makes a Community Effective? For Ashley, an effective community should have the gift of shift factor, they have to all relate to at least one single factor. Ashley typically sees this factor as most powerful when it's an emotional thing that is bringing everyone together. That type of emotion shouldn't be necessarily positive because it can turn into something that happens for good. It could be a negative emotion that ties both individuals together because they have both been through something. Other subjects we covered on the show:What kind of space does Ashley create to make it possible for Prowess to be in the community? What makes an effective community leader? How does common heart show up in Prowess Project Community? Ashley described how common heart creates a deeper engagement in Prowess Project Community. A question that should’ve been asked, but has not—who makes a good candidate for the Prowess community?

Welcome to Elements of Community! I am your host, Lucas Root, and in this episode, I am going to talk about one of the five elements of community which is the common language. Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:Common LanguageThe common language is not just the base language we use to be able to enter into a conversation. It is the thing that makes it work. It is the thing that makes the conversation be communication. It is the thing that makes it possible for us to collaborate on the ideas we're sharing and getting into. If it's not collaboration, then I'm just talking to a wall. If you're not on the other end of this microphone, then I'm not collaborating with anyone. Every single time you enter into any conversation, if you're not looking for collaboration, you're just talking to yourself. All Conversations are CollaborationsI'm bringing these ideas up so you can really center on the notion that all conversations are a collaboration. They're an opportunity to work together and the successful conversations that opportunity has taken and run with. That's part of the reason why common language is so valuable. It's not just about speaking English as I just centered on your brain. There are lots of scenarios where speaking English does not make a conversation. The lack of collaboration results in no conversation, it results in no exchange of ideas, and it results in no growth. Other subjects we covered on the show:The exact feeling of when you have a true common language. What makes common language beautiful? An amazing coffee date with a friend. The reason why common language is so powerful and important.
Welcome to Elements of Community! I am your host, Lucas Root, and in this episode, we are going to talk about community as teams and their differences. Joining me in this episode is Anastasia Neddersen. Anastasia Neddersen is a serial entrepreneur with 15 years of successful track record leading commercializing a broad portfolio of software and hardware products strategically and technically. In her experience, Anastasia has found that there are many inspiring and revolutionary undertakings in the world, but not many organizations do it with integrity, zest, and a kind of finesse that brings genuine value to the world and people. Anastasia's aspirations are to increase collective team intelligence in any business environment. She's on a journey to create accessibly and AI driven games to help teams build stronger connections and become exceptional at achieving their goals. On her quest, she is fueled by joy, authenticity, and personal growth. Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:What Makes a Successful Team?Anastasia described a successful team as a group of people that's driven by common values, which is one of the key things that holds everyone together. A team is also driven by the same goals or doing something that they striving towards. And typically identifies that there is a leader within a team. Community ValuesWith elements of community, values could be common heart. Values could be the bidirectional enrollment of the team, it could be the spoken or unspoken contract that people have with the team. I have intentionally not focused on values as it pertains to the community, because I think that values are more like unspoken contract rather than a thing that people aspire to accept in corporate communities. Ironically in corporate communities, we find that values are often a marketing tool more than a true team cohesion driver. Other subjects we covered on the show:The difference between communication and a project. Communication in elements of a successful team as a common heart. How can two people be a community? Relating cell isolation in community and teams. The fluidity of leadership. Curveball question—do the elements of community elemental?

Welcome to Elements of Community! I am your host, Lucas Root, and in this episode, we are going to talk about the soul nutrients of community. Joining me in this episode is Jessica Encell Coleman. Jessica is a love activist, empowerment educator, gratitude alchemist, and the founder and creator of https://themagic.love/ (The Magic of Human Connection) – a workshop she has facilitated for thousands of people and a movement to create (way) more love inside ourselves, with each other, and on this planet. Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:The Gratitude AdventureThe gratitude adventure was born out of Jessica's favorite practices in the world. Every day for the past 10 years, she would start her day by going for a gratitude walk and do that anywhere between 30 minutes to 90 minutes. Out of this practice, Jessica created a program in which they would meet weekly. After the program, half of the group says they don't want to stop. So she created a dive-in program where every day, they do all the practices and built upon each other. First, Second, Third, & Fourth EnjoymentsThe 4 enjoyments are the common language of the community. It is inspired by a quote from the Dai Lama saying, "I want to live a really beautiful life so that when I'm older, I can look back and live it twice". The first enjoyment is looking forward to something before it's even happened. The second enjoyment is being in the moment—being responsive and creative at the moment. The third enjoyment is reflecting on the benefits of what we enjoyed, and created. And then, the fourth enjoyment enjoying things that you never experienced, it's that aspect of conversion, like celebrating someone else's enjoyments. Other subjects we covered on the show:What are soul nutrients? Jessica describes what makes an effective community leader. Supporting and creating the structure of winning for all. As many subjects as needed for the FREE episode, be very thorough. The art of cheating for our benefit.
If you want to know more about Jessica, you may reach out to her at: Website: https://themagic.love/ (https://themagic.love/)
Welcome to Elements of Community! I am your host, Lucas Root, and in this episode, we are going to talk about how to build and support an amazing community culture. Joining me in this episode is Jackie Nepola. Jackie brings over two decades of business experience and mom life. She hails from business stardom for transforming a failing business into the multi-award-winning—Kaizen Beauty Academy while winning the Excellence of Education Award for Company Culture. A born connector, Jackie evolved her gift to bring business owners, entrepreneurs, and parents together to connect in an inspirational hangout zone. Married for over twenty years, she is an open (uplifting) book when it comes to creating Zen environments to talk about all things business, life, relationships, and raising overachievers. Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:Created NexGen BosJackie strictly stays in her lane which is the beauty school world. She gets the best of both worlds. She’s creating her community, but she won't have the responsibility of the school. Such as dealing with accreditation and financial aid. She just gets to play with her students all day. It's the best job she could ever imagine. Building A Community of CultureFor Jackie, in order to build a community, you have to first have a foundation. And the foundation is culture. In her community, she created a culture first and did the core values. Then applied that with her team, which they go and they work with their students at the same time. So they know they could see them working together as a team. That was their underlying foundation and the community just grew from there. Other subjects we covered on the show:The reason why Jackie got into the beauty industry. Included MIM-Motivate Inspire Mentor as the community’s common value. The other aspects that make an effective community leader. What are Jakie’s lessons that are driving her community to be successful? The curveball question—what do you do for fun, Jackie?

She is an expert change management leader, keynote speaker, trainer, and strategic planning facilitator. During her corporate career, she mentored thousands of women who were struggling to move into their ideal career or start a business from their hobbies and passions. Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:The Sparkle & Rise CommunityCarla manages the https://www.facebook.com/groups/SparkleAndRise (Sparkle and Rise) Community on Facebook, which is a community for the kind and ambitious women. One of the women in the group says it's the kindest place on the internet. And Carla believes she's right. They do some amazing things inside the community. Such as having a community of speakers who are working on getting paid from the stage and programs that go with that. And also, help ambitious female entrepreneurs increase the revenue in their business and create the business that they've dreamed of. Everything Carla does inside the community focuses on helping people get from where they are today to where they want to be tomorrow. Community Engagement is 50%On a typical month, Carla looks at things such as their community's engagement which is now 50%. For Carla, that's a huge percentage. 50% of the people in the community are taking action. They're either, liking a post, posting something, or putting a comment. They're engaging in some way in the community. She also gets emails and messages from women who express how meaningful the community is for them. All these are how Cala measures her success. Other subjects we covered on the show:How Carla build the Sparkle and Rise Community. The process of building a common language in the community. Examples of common language inside Carla’s community. Other ways on how Carla drives engagement with the community. The curveball question—how do you protect the group?

Welcome to Elements of Community! I am your host, Lucas Root, and in this episode, we are going to talk about breaking authority barriers through leadership. Joining me in this episode is Mark Bustillos. Mark is the Chief of Police in Concord since April of 2020. Previous to that, he spent 29 years in the police department working his way through various ranks, and ended up in Concord. He has been serving the community for about two years now. Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:Creating a Better Place for the CommunityMark has learned a lot of lessons all throughout his career. Including the good and bad. And what works in various communities around language, ethnicity, income, poverty, and commonality of interest. In law enforcement, when they are working on building a community, they want people to understand that they are there to help them have a better life and let them know that they're in a safe spot to do whatever it is that they're doing, whether it's recreating a business. Concord has 130,000 residents, Mark has 130 officers, It's not a lot. What do they depend on? They depend on the cooperation and their force multiplier is a community that they can work with and support whether it's a problem or just to make places better. Helping the Badge of Authority Become LeadersThe core of what Mark wants his folks to be is to become the leaders in the community that people can trust. They can flag down and be independent problem solvers. He wants to see his officers in the shopping ranch 99 markets buying tortillas, walking through the supermarket, and engaging with people. Which is a simple way of letting the community know that they are not just looking for criminal activity, but they are out there as an asset and to be of service to the community. Other subjects we covered on the show:Some of Mark’s experiences where the elements of the community show up powerfully. How does Mark reapply the elements of community framework as a Chief of Police in Concord? Does Mark’s force understand what they are working towards? How does a common value in a common language issue work in Mark’s community? Ways on how Mark deepens the shared value and the shared language in his community.

Welcome to Elements of Community! I am your host, Lucas Root, and in this episode, we are going to talk about the benefits of being a member of a community and why small communities are a fun place to be. Joining me in this episode is Nedra Barr, the CEO & Co-Founder at https://spyderloop.com/ (Spyder)—a data management platform that is purpose-built for insurance agents and financial service providers. The platform makes achieving cyber and document storage compliance effortless. Spyder’s platform simplifies the process and puts everything in one place while you focus on growing your business. Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:About NedraNedra started off in the insurance business when she was 16 years old. At that time a man who owns an insurance company in Fort Scott needed some help in his business. And so he called the high school office and the secretary said, “Here's somebody” and that's how Nedra got the job. Before she turned 18 she was planning to buy the business but was able to do so because she was not able to have her license. After that experience, Nedra went across the street and quickly became the number one agent for many companies, then moved to Kansas City and continue her career. Now, she is the CEO and founder of a software company called https://spyderloop.com/ (Spyder) which serves the insurance and the financial services markets. Community’s Expectations to Keep EngagingNedra mentioned that in a smaller community like Fort Scott people expect to live a certain style of life. And what she means by that is people are not fighting traffic, unlike in the big cities. People expect privacy, they expect good police and to be treated very fairly. They expect friendliness and they expect that their neighbors are going to get to know them. They ultimately expect a simple and connected kind of living. Other subjects we covered on the show:Nedra shares about Fort Scott which is a town where she came from. How else do a small community impact Nedra’s business and vice versa? Kinds of businesses in Fort Scott, Kansas. How does the business owners field the community’s expectation? How does Spyder Loop create value for the community? Ways on how Nedra expects they are going to provide for the community and that the community is going to provide back. The curve ball question—What are Nedra’s future plans?

Joining me in this episode is Amanda Hamilton. Amanda is the founder of https://hamiltonraye.com/ (Hamilton Raye)—an executive outsourced solution that aims to provide Founders, Executives, and Leadership with reliable, professional, and trustworthy support to unlock their most valuable asset: TIME. And are focused on a community approach to learning. They work out of the platform called https://www.mightynetworks.com/ (Mighty Networks) which is a tool that keeps their community cohesive and connected. Knowing They Belong to The Admin CommunityAmanda mentioned that if you are an administrative professional who is looking to learn, grow and connect with others this type of community is the place to be. They don't have any requirements and you don't have to be a certain skill level. They just had someone who joined recently. She has never been an admin, but that's where she wants to pivot her career. She's joining to learn, grow and leverage that community by learning from more experienced professionals. Other subjects we covered on the show:Reasons why Amanda created the Admin community. How does an online community create a common language? Amanda describes what makes a community effective. What makes an effective community leader? Other things that make an effective community leader. How does Amanda create engagement for community projects? A question that should’ve been asked, but has not—what other platforms are out there for community engagement?

Welcome to Elements of Community! I am your host, Lucas Root, and in this episode, we are going to talk about some formulas and characteristics that are essential to make the impossible possible for the community. Joining me in this episode is Brad A. Milford. He is a marketing, sales, and operations expert. He’s also a mind models specialist, fractional COO, and CMO with a focus on productivity and business growth strategies such as high-ticket products and course creation for entrepreneurs. Brad is a U.S. Navy veteran and world traveler, he has built eight corporations. Through his experiences, he has led, managed, and grown more than 100 businesses from ground to 7-figures and beyond. He is chapter Chair of the Northeast Florida Region for the Global Leaders Organization, the founder of multiple business incubator communities, and is best known for the Built for Brilliance Group and the Freedom, Wealth, & Brilliance Mastermind. As a top podcaster, Brad’s global impact continues to expand, and he is honored to serve today as a world-class speaker, mentor, advisor, trainer, consultant, and coach. Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:Brad’s Community Point of Possibility or your Community Point of PurposeIn the communities that Brad is involved in, they have transformed possibility into reality. They take something that possibly somebody doesn't think is possible and make it possible. With that said, Brad’s CPOP is transforming the impossible to possible. What it Looks like in Brad’s CommunityWith Brad’s community there's the business side of things and then the personal side of things. Between those two, what's more important to him is the service. He also thinks that a community has everything to do with service and value. He could go to the business side, but what's more empowering is when somebody truly transformed their lives, and their businesses are affected as a residual. Transformation happens in an instant. A lot of people misunderstand that transformation happens instantaneously. It's that aha moment when the light goes on and we say, “Oh, I get it now”. And then forevermore, you were never the same. Transformations happen in an instant. However, there's a lot that leads up to a transformational moment and there's a lot that goes beyond the transformational moment. Other subjects we covered on the show:What does it look like inside Brad’s community when the community is engaging with a transformation? Brad describes what makes an effective community leader. How can the community engage with common values when following a specific formula? What is the behavior of transformation? A question that should’ve been asked, but have not—who do you know that I need to know?

Welcome to Elements of Community! I am your host, Lucas Root, and in this episode, I am going to talk about the highlights and some of the amazing pieces from the episodes with Peter, Mitchell, and Isis. Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:The Community of QuakersIn Peter Laughter’s episode, we talked about the community of Quakers and how the community of Quakers can give us an opportunity to learn what a community might look like and how it might look differently if we didn't focus on hierarchy. We also looked at some alternate versions of leadership and some different ways to look at what leadership is and what it can mean. Global Credibility ExpertMitchell Levy is the global credibility expert. We had a great time talking about a couple of different big pieces of what leadership can mean in the context of credibility and how that affects and impacts the way that you interact with the committee. An Extraordinary CommunityIsis has an absolutely extraordinary community. It's not the sort of community that I was expecting to talk about. But that's part of what makes it so exciting because it's an opportunity for me to look at the way that communities can come together and how that transforms my understanding of community in a general sense. We also uncovered some really deep ideas. And some specialized ways to look at the way our religious community utilizes the five elements of community and how they fit together. Other subjects we covered on the show:A deep dive into the elements of credibility and community engagement with Mitchell Levy. The Quaker community leadership as being fluid and the idea that the community can have a tight connection or a loose connection. How prayer is a common language and a common project with Isis.
Welcome to Elements of Community! I am your host, Lucas Root, and in this episode, we are going to talk about studying & bringing ancient teachings until the modern day through the oracle crystal ball. Joining me in this episode is Isis Indriya, born in Mesa, Arizona, Indigenous to and raised on the island of Guam. Isis Indriya dedicates her life to creating platforms for teaching the sacred sciences of the Ancients, Indigenous wisdom, cultural exchange, Nature’s intelligence, and inner transformation as pathways for moving forward. Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:Isis’s Community Point of Possibility (CPOP)The crystal ball has been the center of hundreds of rituals. Their Community’s line is an original approach to ancient ways and is devoted to studying and bringing ancient teachings until the modern day. Because they see that the ancient teachings have lasted through the ages and the center of that is the Oracle crystal ball. The Oracle crystal ball is also the heart of their group called the Oracle Clan. They all work with this crystal ball where they pray together and stay together during community events, group rituals, apprenticeship programs, and huge events. The Role of Leadership in their CommunityThrough the Oracle, Isis believes that everybody is a leader. It's about cultivating that aspect and the innate intelligence within, then clarifying what their divine directives are and what particular leadership skill thread they want to cultivate. With the Oracle at the heart of their school, they support and encourage whoever comes around to step into leadership. And do all the transformational work that's necessary to become a council of leaders to get the work done. Because they believe that it's impossible for one or two people to get it all done. Other subjects we covered on the show:With everybody being a leader, what is it that makes a person an effective leader? The Importance of common heart in the community. What makes a community an effective community? Ways that Isis’s community does to connect with the common heart. Why is community important these days?

Welcome to Elements of Community! I am your host, Lucas Root, and in this episode, we are going to talk about human credibility and the importance of clearly articulating your purpose. Joining me in this episode is Mitchell Levy, a 2x TEDx speaker, an international bestselling author of over 60 books, a creator of over 20 Silicon Valley businesses, and a Global Credibility Expert. Mitchell believes that credibility is not a destination, it is a journey. Credibility is your character and other people’s perception of your character. Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:More About Credibility NationThe name of Mitchell’s community is https://community.credibilitynation.com/ (Credibility Nation)— a lifelong learning membership community of credible vs. dubious peers who live and do business together credibly. Credibility Nation’s huge, yet, obtainable set of goals are the following: To create a world we will be proud to live in. To create a world we will be proud to pass on to future generations. To create an environment today where we love what we do, who we work with, and the contribution we make to those we associate with.
With the new robust definition of credibility. They are making it easy for companies and individuals to figure out what credibility is and the steps to take to increase your credibility. Mitchell Defines an Effective CommunityFor Mitchell, an effective community is the five elements which are, common language, common project, common value, common purpose, and common heart. The easiest for Mitchell is the common language which talks about mission versus goals. But having five elements associated with community is a powerful blueprint moving forward. Other subjects we covered on the show:How does interviewing 500 thought leaders lead to building a community? Why does Mitchell specifically call the purpose, the compass that guides us? Mitchell shared his thoughts about what makes an effective leader. The 10 elements of credibility. What is community engagement and how does Mitchell foster that in his community? How does Mitchell grow the heart in his community? Ways to encourage your community to dance.

Welcome to Elements of Community! I am your host, Lucas Root, and in this episode, we are going to talk about how strengthening communities allow people to experience a true collaboration. Joining me in this episode is Peter Laughter, the Chief Inspiration Officer of https://www.kinext.com/ (Kinnext)—a consulting and convening company that recognizes human interaction as a key to effective problem solving. Peter’s purpose is to raise up human connections so they are noticeable and recognizable in our day-to-day life. And have those as a source of inspiration and strength, insight, and belonging. Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:About Peter’s CommunityPeter is in several overlapping communities. And the degree to which those overlaps are closer to him or farther away, depending on their connection to Peter’s personal purpose. He is a Quaker, an entrepreneur, and a change-maker and all of these groups have their own communities. And all of them, the ones that he is connected with or the subsets of those communities that are most connected with are ones that share his purpose or at least purpose adjacent. Leadership in QuakerismIn Quakerism, the leadership scenario is centered around creating a deeper understanding and connection between that inner light or having an access to the higher truth. One of which is simplicity, simplicity not just of our surroundings and possessions, but of our thinking so that we can better hear that truth that we have access to. It also includes Integrity, which is not just doing what you say you're doing, but staying true to who you are and the requirements of your community. Other subjects we covered on the show:Peter shared the sub umbrella communities he joined and is currently working with. Meaning of flat hierarchy in Quakerism. The analogy of mushroom hunting. What makes a Quaker an effective leader? How does Peter create and foster engagement inside the community? And then, Peter describes how the community engages with purpose regularly.

Welcome to Episode 3 of Elements of Community! I am your host, Lucas Root, and in this episode we are going to talk about how Giuseppe Grammatico leads executives in finding freedom. Giuseppe is a franchise veteran who simplifies the process of franchising and excels at guiding his candidates to the model that best suits them. His greatest joy is helping people realize the American dream and sharing the freedom that comes from franchising. Franchising has allowed Giuseppe to enjoy the freedom so many hope for. Sharing his expertise with his candidates, learning about their goals and their lives, and guiding them towards their dreams are what light him up the most. Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:A Freedom of PurposeGiuseppe was a corporate exec of their family business. Money was good but he wasn't happy with his job and the progress he was making. He then interviewed other companies in the same boat, where he figured that there was no real difference. He then reached out to a franchise coach and talked about freedoms. They talked about time freedom, financial freedom, freedom of working with people he enjoys working with, and freedom of purpose. Giuseppe had his business purpose clear and that is to build a business that helps and gives back to people. Now, he helps people by guiding them to the model that best suits them. Giuseppe Describes an Effective CommunityGiuseppe describes an effective community as a group of people that brings value and is open to expressing and sharing their ideas. He believes that for a community to be effective the leader needs to lay that groundwork in the very beginning. So people know what to expect from the community. Other subjects we covered on the show:Giuseppe described what makes an effective community leader. The importance of understanding the purpose of the community. Ways how Giuseppe helps people understand what the purpose of a community is. How does Giuseppe help people to stay engaged so they can extract the value that they need? Giuseppe shared the purpose of his community and how that purpose builds continued success within the community?

Welcome to Elements of Community! I am your host, Lucas Root, and in this episode, we are going to talk about the real estate professionals seeking their zone of genius. Joining me in this episode is Zach Hammer the founder of https://realestategrowthhackers.com/ (Real Estate Growth Hackers)—a marketing consulting agency that brings cutting-edge marketing tactics from the top modern marketers to the real estate community. Zach teaches real estate agents, teams, and brokerages how to generate an endless supply of leads on demand. Offering services that make the process simple. Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:A Successful CommunityZach’s community is composed of a lot of people but he focuses most of his attention and effort on helping real estate agents in being successful with their marketing, defining who they're looking to reach, and getting that message out effectively to the market. Which also translates to their zone of genius. Along the process, he finds that mortgage professionals, Title folks, and software companies that serve the real estate space often find value in connecting with the kind of information he puts out. His community is now larger than ever. And it’s for those real estate professionals that are in this current world of real estate. Effectively Building a CommunityOne of the key ideas here is, “People will always rally behind those who throw stones at their enemies.” If you understand who somebody's enemies are, and help them to fight those enemies, that's a great way to bring together a group of people to rally behind you. Bringing together people under the same direction is what an effective community is about. It's a group of people coming together and moving forward in a consistent direction. And as a result, they have the same troubles, enemies, and the same ideas. Other subjects we covered on the show:How does Zach decide which stones to throw and which enemies to choose in every community battle he faces? Zach shared how he became a community leader. The three elements of an effective community leader. Types of battles that Real Estate Growth Hackers engage in. Why is it important for a community to trust the process?

Welcome to Elements of Community! I am your host, Lucas Root, and in this episode, we are going to talk about a community of business owners that are purpose-aligned towards business freedom. Joining me in this episode is Liana Ling the CEO of https://powerupstrategy.com/ (Power Up Strategy) — a digital marketing agency that helps entrepreneurs reach their goals so they can live a lifestyle they have been dreaming of. She started her professional career as a litigation lawyer. But for the last 10 years, she has been a full-time entrepreneur. One of the things she loves to do is not just engage in communities, but build communities that really serve online business owners. Here’s just a taste of our talking points this week:An Interesting Community to Talk AboutA lot of times when people think of communities, they say, "wow, you created this 100,000 person community or 20,000 person community". Liana's community is unique and extraordinary because it is a tight small intimate community. And what's more amazing about it is she has been keeping the community extremely active and close ties for over a year up to this day. Defining an Effective CommunityAn effective community has to not just have the participation of the leader or the creator of the community. But the members also have to be engaged and contribute to the community. It should be a two-way street from all the members of the community.
