Welcome to Voices from Healthcare! I’m Jonathan Palmer, a Greek-American studying Kinesiology with a concentration in pre-med. I wish to bring innovation within the medical field and to further encourage the physician-patient relationship. Join me every other week as I learn how to relate to the patient, take medical direction from my mentors, and gain a first-hand perspective of how medicine is practiced from the other side of the curtain. In this episode, we consider the value of working in silence, the power of delegation, and the benefit of mentorship. We look at dental issues that surfaced in some part due to the pandemic, new surgical techniques emerging in the field, and the advancement of dental materials and how these have changed over time.
Dr. Hillis and I will sit down and will touch on the diversity within the field from sedation techniques to laser dentistry. We look at the value of using Invisalign as opposed to traditional braces.
We will also consider the advancement of dental materials and the value of stimulating an effective physician-patient relationship.

Serafina is an Austrian-Ethiopian-American who was educated in the French and Austrian schooling systems. She has a beautiful vision to provide medical care within the world of pediatrics. We touch on the cultural world where she grew up, her desire to pursue her undergraduate education in the states, and how students can have a more sustainable and healthier approach to academics.

I'll learn of Angela's unique role in surgery and how she works hand in hand with the surgeons in the OR. We'll touch on the types of surgeries she is involved in, the education needed in order to be a surgical technician, and the powerful perspective she brings as a young black women to the world of medicine.
