In Romans 10:1-21 Paul expresses his heartfelt desire for his fellow kinsmen and countrymen that they would be Saved and makes a compelling case from the Old Testament Scriptures that Christ is, indeed, the Messiah and Lord for both Jew and Greek.

Romans Chapter 9 contains some often misunderstood teachings from the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Roman Christians. Did God really create some people with the deliberate intention for them to go to hell? Doesn't the Scripture teach that it is His Will that none should perish, but that all should come to repentance? We'll address these questions today in our message The Sovereignty of God.
How does the Bible define "love?" Does the Biblical definition of love differ greatly from the common secular definition of love? Does "real love" have limits? That is, does "real love" ever stop loving? Are we to always love others despite their actions, and if we love someone, is it "unloving" for us to refuse to approve of dangerous actions they may take, or does love imply automatic approval of any actions one might take, and any decisions they may make? Does love, by definition, imply any limits at all? When are we to stop loving? The Apostle Paul had many things to say about love in his letter to the local church in Romans Chapter 9. These questions (and many other conceptions/misconceptions about love) are addressed by Pastor James Williams in our Study of Romans 9:1-5. "So why do the works at all if we are saved by faith and not by works?" "Does this give me a license to sin?" "Isn't God made to look even better by contrast if I choose to live a callous and sinful life?" These are questions Paul anticipates from his readers, many of whom had been misguided and taught to believe that they were made right with God (justified) by their good works. Over the years, many different ideas have been tossed around over the “proper role” of a Deacon in a church. Many have come to think of Deacons as executives or leaders who "run a church," while others think of the Office of a Deacon as being that of a servant who is relegated to cater to all the whims and various desires of church members. Is either of these descriptions really the correct Biblical view? Is a Deacon really to be a Dictator OVER the people, or a Slave OF the people?
The Bible gives us a good description of the office of a Deacon and of its general duties and responsibilities. You may learn that the Biblical role of a Deacon may be somewhat different from what you've been taught or heard. While in Acts 6, the Bible records the choosing of the first Deacons and outlines their responsibilities, in 1 Timothy 3, the Apostle Paul outlines the requirements for being a Deacon.
In 1 Timothy 4, Paul gives Timothy specific instructions and guidance as a young Servant of God. That's the primary focus of today's study. We’ll hear first from Deacons Kevin Makenzie and Chris Tallman. After that, Pastor James Williams will lead us in a study of 1 Timothy 4, verses 12 and following.
