S25 | College + Young Adults
SUB25 is the college and young adult ministry of Gardendale First Baptist Church. Our mission is to see the college campuses, workplaces, and communities around Birmingham changed by the power of the gospel.
This week we'll look at the end of Acts 4 and the beginning of Acts 5. We're going to see that the Gospel didn't leave the early church the way it found them. The Gospel changes everything.
If you want to be used by God, you don't have to be the most skilled, most popular, most educated, or have the best personality. God uses ordinary people in extraordinary ways. If you want to be used by God, ordinary is enough. Join us this week in Acts 3-4 as we see God use a couple of ordinary men in a big way.
Join us this week as we study Acts 2 and discover that God is a God who pursues people, even those who have turned their back on Him. He's a God of second chances.
Join us as we start a new semester in the book of Acts! This week we'll look at Acts 1:1-11. Have you ever wondered why Jesus didn't take the disciples with Him when He ascended to Heaven? Or, why doesn't Jesus take us to Heaven immediately when we experience salvation? We'll address these questions and a lot more this week!

When Jesus died on the cross, Matthew 27:51 says, "...the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom..." This might be a small detail but it has a major impact on our lives. Join us this week as we discover the significance of the torn veil.

Did you know that two spiritual families exist? Everyone is in 1 of these families. In our passage this week, John describes what the children in these families look like. As you listen, evaluate which family you currently belong to.

All Christians are called to be... MINISTERS! What does it look like to embrace this calling? What should characterize the Christian's life? This week we'll look at 1 Corinthians 4 and discover a few areas that should characterize our lives.
The church matters to Jesus, so it should matter to us. As we live within the context of the church, we should seek to protect the unity and purity of the church. This week, we'll unpack 1 Corinthians 3:9-23 and look at principles that we can apply to our lives so that we can work toward unity and purity in the church.
Are you laboring for what matters most in life? Is your life organized in such a way that honors God and fulfills His purpose for your life? As we look at 1 Corinthians 3:9-15, we'll discover what it looks like to "build what matters" and to be a laborer in God's Kingdom.
"It wasn't supposed to be this way..." Has this thought ever ran through your mind? Maybe you lost a loved one, or a relationship unexpectedly ended. Maybe your life has not turned out the way you imagined. Is there any hope? How do we move forward? This week, we're taking a break from our study in 1 Corinthians to unpack Hebrews 4:14-16.
We're all building something—relationships, careers, resumes, etc. But are you building what matters most?
What is godly wisdom? Is it available to us? What is it characterized by? This week we'll look wisdom rooted in Christ Jesus.
"The message of the cross is..." How would you finish this phrase? In our text this week, Paul wants to remind the believers about the message that unites them. Join us this week as we discover the importance of the message of the cross!
Unity has been a struggle within the church for as long as it's been around. In this episode, we'll discover the first of many issues in the church at Corinth. What caused the disunity? How can we learn from the mistakes in Corinth?
This semester we will journey through 1 Corinthians— a letter written to a group of imperfect Jesus followers. The church in Corinth had all kinds of issues, but Paul begins by reminding them of their God-given identity. If you are a follower Jesus, the identity given to the Corinthian Christians is also yours.
We fight for a lot of good things in life, but are we fighting for the best things? In this episode, we look at what it means to fight for fellowship with the Lord.
We live in a world that is crying out, "Set me free!" We have the answer—Jesus. Are you willing to take this message of freedom to the world?
What does the Bible have to say about the "s" word—singleness? Whether you are married, dating, or flying solo, we believe God has a word for you.
In this week's episode, we'll discover that freedom comes through death. If you want to walk in spiritual freedom, you will need to "die" to some aspects of your life.
This week we kick a study in Galatians called "Set me free." Do you feel like you're in bondage? Perhaps you're in bondage to anxiety, sexual sin, unhealthy relationships, etc. In this week's message, we examined four lies that lead us down the road of bondage. We hope that you'll tune in with us each week as we unpack this powerful letter to the churches in Galatia!

We’re back in Judges this week, and today we’ll be looking at a man named Jephthah. According to our passage, it seems like Jephthah may have picked up some dangerous ideas and dangerous habits throughout his life. Perhaps you can relate. Will Jephthah find freedom and victory? Is victory available to you? Tune in to hear what happens in this bazaar story.

We’re taking a break from Judges this week. Isaiah 6 is an incredibly powerful chapter that gives us a picture of the throne of God and the presence of God. When Isaiah entered into God’s presence, he left transformed. The same transformation is available to you! Tune in today to hear what God did in Isaiah’s life and what God wants to do in yours.
You may have seen the movie “300,” but the original “300” comes from our story in Judges this week. From out passage today, we’ll learn how to enjoy the Christian life as God intended us to.

God’s ways don’t always make sense. God isn’t looking for “ability” to accomplish His plans and purposes; He’s looking for “availability.” This week in Judges we find faithful people who offer themselves fully to God, but we also see those who hesitate to submit. The story we’ll look at this week is intense, but in the end, we see a savior that offered Himself fully on our behalf.

This week in Judges we find Israel in a state of restlessness. They’re caught in a cycle of sin. Has God given up on Israel? Is rescue even possible? The road won’t be easy, but God makes a way that leads to rest—true rest.

This week we begin a journey through the Book of Judges. God’s people have made it to the Promised Land, but their lack of obedience leads to repercussions they never could have imagined. In the end, we find that deliverance is only found in one king— the King of Kings.
