Tacoma Pierce County Coalition to End Homelessness
The https://pchomeless.org/ (Tacoma Pierce County Coalition to End Homelessness) meets weekly to learn about local resources, network with colleagues, develop better ways to serve people experiencing homelessness, and hear ways we can advocate for more resources in the community. This podcast is a recording of our weekly meeting. Meetings usually follow a theme, are actively moderated, usually featuring a set of short presentations with a question and answer session.

The City of Tacoma discussed proposed changes to the Rental Housing Code. Neighborhood and Community Services provided an overview of their homeless plan. The Purple Bag project gave an update on their pilot project and next steps. We discussed a couple grant opportunities, one for vaccine education and one for the speaker's bureau. We'll also received the usual updates - government, safe parking, advocacy and more.
Discussion of Centralized Diversion funds. Overview of the work done by the Gig Harbor-Key Peninsula Housing and Homeless Coalition. Presentation on the Centralized Diversion Funds. Breakouts will discuss street outreach in the City of Tacoma. We'll have the usual government, advocacy, and safe parking updates, and discuss a funding sources for the Speaker's Bureau, Coalition work updates, recommendations for the new round of federal funding, and more.
Continued work on the City of Tacoma strategic plan, with breakout groups discussing equity and homelessness. The hospitals discussed discharge planning. Elevate Health provided an overview of the Forensic HARPS program as well as Trueblood. We also had the usual government, advocacy, safe parking and commitment updates.
Final discussion on the expanded role for the Coalition. Report out on what the small groups from February 12th identfied in answer to the question "Knowing what you know about the gaps in supports/services for those living in encampments, how would you prioritize investments to address the needs?"
United Way will discuss the 211 program. The Plan for the Coalition to become a nonprofit will be revisited in preparation for a vote the following week. We'll have a continuation of the City of Tacoma's engagement around their homeless strategy. And all the usual updates.
