Today I’m sharing with you an article that was commissioned by an education NGO for print in their membership journal. However, after several revisions, they found the content to be too politically risky for their organization. It contained too many words being weaponized against school systems by those opposed to diversity and equity. Words like "mindset" and "bias" and "privilege." So, they chose not to print it. Black history is American history. The first teaching credential I earned was in secondary social sciences. My thoughts here are through not only the lens of equity, but that of the necessity to teach the social sciences via multiple perspectives and multiple voices.
