Looking For Christ
We have experienced the forgiveness of sins and communion with God found in Jesus Christ.
Jonah is brought low to see his need for a Savior. Jesus was brought low on our behalf and has made salvation possible.
Jonah offers his life for others because of his own sin. Jesus, Who was sinless, throws Himself overboard willingly dying in the place of sinners.
Christ is the nourishing, self-sacrificial vine that gives life to His people, the branches. Abide (remain / dwell) in His love.
God sees us where we are and He has sent His Son to demonstrate His love, mercy, and grace for us.
Let us restore one another in gentleness and only seek to boast in what Christ has done for us.
Christ has freed us from the penalty of the law. As we abide in Christ we bless others with the fruit that is produced.
God’s Word of grace spoken over us as a promise is better than whatever we could gain in the law.
Jesus has freed us from the law’s demands and the need to be made righteous through the law. Let us not turn back to law keeping, but continue to turn to Christ.
The gospel of Jesus Christ is worth preserving. You are saved by grace not by how good you are. Praise God!
If anyone could find solace in the law, it was Saul. Instead, Paul found comfort in the revealed gospel of Jesus Christ.
Christ lived, died, and rose again for us. On the cross He tells us it is finished. Let’s not add anything to this beautiful mystery.
We receive blessing because Christ happily received our curse. We are kept, lavishly loved, and are given peace because of Him.
Abide in Christ. Receive Christ in the preaching of the Word and experience the life giving spiritual nourishment from the Vine.
What would it be like if everyone knew your secret thoughts? The ones you can’t bring yourself to confess to others. God knows. He knows you fully and loves you completely.
If we take away the wrath of God due to modern discomfort we unknowingly diminish the love of God. The wrath of God for sin teaches us just how much He loves us.
Is it enough just to be near Jesus and hear His voice if we are never considered great? He is worthy.
Jesus is The Light come into the world. At first it is uncomfortable being near Him because we can’t hide our thoughts or desires. However, the more time spend with Jesus we see His love for us despite those things and soon enough we experience a change in our thoughts and desires.
God so loved [you] that He sent Jesus. And Jesus came willingly, not begrudgingly, because of His great love for you. Christ is for you.
Jesus is teaching us that the Scriptures really are about Him. He is letting us know the answer to the most enigmatic texts. It’s about Him and what He came to do.
Nicodemus approaches Jesus as an equal but soon finds His wisdom is unmatched. Jesus does for Nicodemus what He does for all of us. He shows us that He is far more than we could have ever imagined. The more we are drawn into belief the more His wisdom is plainly seen.
Jesus is the true Master of the Feast who takes away the penalty of our sin and offers the joy of salvation to all.
When we spend time with Jesus and “[come, see]” we can’t help but experience Him as Savior.
Jesus has taken on flesh to be with us. We receive grace upon grace from Him, and we can know the Father by knowing Him.
Jesus is the Messiah and the Son of God. Believing these to be true is John’s purpose for writing his gospel because he has experienced life and wants others to experience that as well.
God is a Father who delights in giving us gifts. The more we give those gifts away the more we experience the gift of His Son through the Spirit’s work in us.
Today we discuss the “why” of the Church global and local. That is to proclaim the excellencies of Christ and to make disciples. We also have the beautiful promise that Christ is with us always.
Jesus is our avenger. He enacts perfect justice. He has dealt with our sin at the cross and will deal with all sin fully and finally one day.
God’s blessing requires perfect obedience. We receive God’s blessing through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
Jesus has trusted in the Father on our behalf so that in the truest sense we will not be shaken and we will remain forever.
We are saved from being swallowed up and swept away by raging waters because Jesus was swallowed up and swept away on our behalf.
Jesus once prayed to be delivered from the contempt of the arrogant but the cup did not pass. Today, because of Jesus, I can lift my eyes to God and pray for deliverance because it has been secured in Christ.
Jesus is our Jerusalem and our temple. He has allowed for us to meet with God and have peace with Him. This is true now and will be seen more clearly in the future.
On this episode we wanted to introduce what our goal is for this podcast. Put simply, we hope to deepen our faith by looking for Christ in Scripture. Our aim is to focus on how Christ fulfills the text and the hope His gospel brings. We hope you’ll come along with us.
