Everyone prepares you for what to expect during pregnancy.
You take classes on childbirth and delivery.
You're ready for the baby - the nursery is decked out, the closet and dresser full of clothes and the toys and gadgets fill your home.
You have a baby and bring them home...
NOW WHAT?
No one prepares you for what comes next or what to expect in the months and years following birth. No one tells you how to take care of YOURSELF in the HEALING PROCESS of giving birth - whether vaginal or Cesarean.
We want to make sure you feel PREPARED. That you know what to expect.
In today's episode we're talking about all things postpartum prep - the PHYSICAL ASPECT.
What to expect in healing, what you need to have to help you with recovery.
With the help of our friends and family on IG we were able to get personal perspectives and "wish I knew that" tidbits from mamas who gave birth via C-section AND our own experiences via vaginal birth.
We hope this conversation brings you peace and gives you ideas on how to prepare.

In this episode, we're giving you tactical tips that work for us when it comes to setting and ENFORCING those boundaries. Because we know that creating the boundary is the easy part. But actually sticking to it and allowing yourself to uphold those boundaries is the tricky part.

Who can touch your pregnant belly? And what about INTIMACY with your partner postpartum? Privacy who? Need a minute to pee or shower alone?
We're covering it ALL!

Do you use rest as a reward to overcoming chaos? Do you feel like you need to deserve rest? That you can’t allow yourself to rest until you have checked off all the boxes and got everything done?
I feel like in the world today it’s so easy to treat rest as a reward because people will say “you have plenty of time to rest when you are dead” or YOLO so do everything right now! Or if you want to make it big and do big things you have to be go go go go all the time and that rest comes second. Rest is for the weak…
I’m here to break the news to you, girl. That is SOOOOOOO wrong!
I found something from Integris health that sums up the reasons why rest is needed so perfectly! It says “Rest is vital for better mental health, increased concentration and memory, a healthier immune system, reduced stress, improved mood and even a better metabolism.”
So it’s time to change to narrative about rest! You don’t need to deserve rest.. you don’t need to wait until you are at rock bottom and burnt out! Have some grace with yourself!

How often do you think that you can only celebrate a win when you hit a massive goal? That there isn’t a cause for celebration until the win is massive? If that’s you, I totally feel ya, because that it how I felt for a while. Unless I reached my big overall goal and crushed it, I wouldn’t celebrate anything along the way. Or I felt like I could only celebrate wins in seasons of success, because that’s what everyone does right? You have to be succeeding in order to celebrate, duh?
But today I want to challenge you and your mindset to rethink celebrating wins a little bit, because I personally think that it is important regardless of the season that you are in.
Whether you are in a season of success, hustle, waiting, hard, etc, celebrating even the smallest of wins can be beneficial.

Today's episode is a reminder going into the new year to treat your goals/dreams/desires/aspirations like a marathon and NOT a sprint.
It's so easy to want to cross the finish line to our goals right away, but most of the time that is not possible. You can't make massive moves or impact overnight.
When we treat our goals in the beginning of the year like a sprint, we are setting ourselves up to fail because we reach the end of the month and feel like we haven't accomplished the big thing yet.
So create action steps and tasks that you can celebrate along the way. Celebrate all the small steps towards your big goal because that will push you to want to keep going.

Today's episode provides tactical tips and tricks to add to your toolbox to help manage the stress that can come along with the holiday season! Honestly though, I think these four tips can be helpful for any season of stress that you may be in!
The top four that I thought were super important to remind myself and you of is:
1) Acknowledge and be truthful about how you are feeling
2.) It’s okay to say no
3.) Take some time for yourself
4.) It’s okay to stick to your normal routine

Today I just want to remind you that it’s okay if you don’t know everything ALL the time, or don’t have it all together all the time!
I feel like so many of us put this unrealistic expectation on ourselves that we have to be perfect at all moments, we can never ask for help, and if we “fail” then we are trash and we suck, am I right?
Girl, these are LIES that you are telling yourself.
If you wouldn't put the unrealistic expectations on someone else that you put on yourself, then PLEASE DO NOT keep putting them on yourself!

In today's podcast we are having a really raw and honest conversation about how it is OKAY to express and show how you are feeling. The amount of grief, frustration or emotions that you are feeling shouldn't be defined by someone else's journey. It's okay to feel upset or have emotions about a situation even if you haven't been struggling for as long as someone else. Your feelings are NOT defined by someone else's standards.
Your feelings are VALID.
So let's stop going by the saying "fake it till you make it" because not only is that exhausting, but you are not allowing yourself to process your feelings or emotions.

Here is your reminder to NEVER compare where you are in your journey to where someone else is. You are uniquely you with your own sets of talents and strengths and you are going to navigate things differently than someone else.
Also don't let the space between where you are now and where you want to go diminish all the things that you have done to get to where you are now!

If you need the reminder to have grace with yourself, then girl, this episode is for YOU!
As go getter women, with all the people pleasing and perfectionist tendencies, we can forget to have grace and patience with ourselves in the day to day.
But guess what, it is SOOOO important. Right?
It's time to start treating ourselves with more respect and grace. If we wouldn't put the expectations that we put on ourselves, on our friends then maybe we need to reframe. If we wouldn't hold our friends to the same level of unrealistic perfection that we hold for ourselves, then it is time for a CHANGE.
You are NEVER in this alone girl.

Today's real and raw episode is about something that I am struggling with in real time, and I figured that if I was struggling, then someone else may be too!
Do you ever feel defeated when you don't do something perfectly the first time? If you said yes, then SAME. In the moment, I forget that we can't become experts overnight.
It takes time. You need to put in your reps. You can't expect perfection and immediate success the first time around.
A quote that I love is by Helen Hayes. She says:
"THE EXPERT IN ANYTHING WAS ONCE A BEGINNER"
So next time you are feeling defeated or behind, remind yourself of this quote, and I will do the same.
Sound like a plan?!

Now, you may be thinking what the heck.. this totally contradicts what you talked about last week.. Last week was all about sticking with it and now you are saying that we can change our mind?! Like what the heck?!
Well, there is a difference between sticking with something even when its hard, and then forcing yourself to stay with the course when you are miserable, depressed and unfulfilled. If you have given something time, tried to stay the course, and you are just down rate HATING it and it feels unaligned, then girl you need CHANGE.
I feel like one of the biggest signs that it may be time for a change is when you are constantly unhappy or just feel numb and like you are going through the motions.
Maybe what you are doing now doesn’t align with your WHY and you feel super unfulfilled.
Another sign could be that you keep WISHING AND WISHING for something more. Maybe you have hit a point where you feel like you have settled.
When you feel like change is needed, explore different opportunities and challenge your comfort zone because you may be surprised with what you end up loving. I know this sounds cliché, but never say never…
I’m so glad that I changed my career path to something that makes me happy and doesn’t throw me into a panic attack every day. I deserve that you SO DO YOU. It’s okay if you don’t know what the next step is and it’s okay to realize that you need a change before you have the next step figured out.
Keep your eyes open to all the opportunities that life throws at you because you may be surprised at what you find!

Today I’m sharing a little reminder that I think is going to hit home with you… and that’s the reminder to celebrate all the wins, from big to small.
If you have ever struggled with anxiety, or anxious thoughts then you know how hard it can be to feel like you are “winning” in some moments. When those thoughts keep you up at night, or prevent you from doing the damn thing, or make you second guess everything….. it can really feel like you are just losing over and over again… because in those moment you are so focused on the bad that you overlook the good. This is where it’s so important to re-write the story that you are telling yourself. Even in the days when things are hard, can you find at least one win to celebrate? OF COURSE YOU CAN!
Cause lets be real… when you celebrate a win, don’t you usually feel happy, excited and proud of yourself? Usually when you celebrate your wins it doesn’t make up upset… so let’s focus on building our confidence and celebrating all the wins no matter how small.
I was looking online for tips on how to even start with celebrating wins and there were two that really stuck out to me # 1 establishing a routine with wins built in and #2 try to live in the moment.
And remember, there's no definition of what is a win and what isn’t a win. So don’t compare your wins to others or a prior version of yourself. Try and live in the moment, sprinkle in wins throughout your day, and celebrate the HECK out of them.

Today we are talking all about going through a tough season and all the feelings that come along with it. I'm sharing today to remind you that you are NOT alone in any of this!
Have you ever just had so much going on that it felt hard to juggle everything? Have you ever spent years working towards something, like a degree or goal, and you get to the last couple weeks and even though it is so close, it just feels sooo freaking far away? Cause same, that is where I am at right now, and it can just be so hard.
When you are in that season of tough it is hard to be content where you are. Maybe you can relate to a time when you felt like what you were doing was just pointless and busy work and you were just going through the motions… or a time when you just wanted to press the fast forward button and be at the end goal because as you get closer, you just want to be done and are sick of waiting. Girl you are NOT alone!
I also want to remind you that this season is NOT forever. That is something that I keep reminding myself day in and day out… Yes, it is frustrating right now and it feels like it’s going to take forever to get to the other side, but in the long run this is only ONE season and not forever.
So remember, sometimes we need the switch to be down before we can flip it back up. Sometimes we need to go through a season of tough to help launch and propel us forward.
Don't forget to loop people in. We are NOT meant to go through it all alone. Keep pushing through because you are building up your resiliency muscle. This is one season and not forever. I believe in you! <3

I feel like it is SOOOO easy to let self-doubt and all the self-sabotaging thoughts rule our lives.
We are our own worst critics! Maybe you can relate to this.. but when you try to change things up, do something new, or make a big decision, what are your first thoughts? Do you think....hell yes I can got this, I’m ready, I’m pumped… OR.. do you think... I can’t do that, what makes me feel qualified to even try this, why did I think that I could do this, what’s the point, what if this happens? I know for me it’s usually the “why did I think that I could do this?
I want to remind you to FLIP that story you are telling yourself.. those thoughts are NOT serving you! If God is opening the doors and qualifying you, or if you feel like no matter how much you try to ignore it but you keep coming back to the same thing.. then do NOT let your own fear and self-doubt stop you from doing something that could be great!
It is so easy to doubt your own abilities and capabilities, but if what you are saying to yourself is not something that you would say to a friend, then STOP saying it to you. You are bullying yourself. We are capable of SO much more than we give ourselves credit for. So its time to get out of our own dang way, and get things done…

Maybe you can relate to this, but I was always so jealous of the people who had solid routines, whether that be a morning or night routine, workout routine, you name it. I was annoyed because I felt like I had a hard time sticking with it and I never really liked it…
Until I started experimenting with different things in the morning, and starting one thing at a time.. then I realized that it wasn’t all that impossible. You see, the story I was telling myself here was that I had tried a routine over and over again and it didn’t work, which meant it would never work out for me? Have you ever found yourself in that position? If so, I want to be here to tell you that you CAN re-write that story..
You just need to start small when it comes to routine and try not to implement a million things at once. I also did a little research for you and between the research and my personal experience here are 5 tips and tricks that you can implement to start any kind of routine that you have been looking to start.
These worked for me and I thought that I would NEVER be able to have a morning routine that I loved… remember never to say never, because most likely it is just another story that you are telling yourself that needs to be flipped around.

This past week I feel like everything I have listened you, watched, or read has talked about alignment and I felt this tug on my heart to chat about it. Backstory, I was planning on making an episode about alignment and why it is important in general, then I had my 1:1 call with Kacia Fitzgerald in the podcast mastermind, and I am even more pumped to talk about it because I am doing a huge transition right NOW with this podcast to make it more aligned, so I’m going through this in REAL time...and this podcast is about figuring things out together!
For a second I want you to think of a moment when you have felt a little confused or lost about the direction you were going with in something. Did it make you feel confident, or did it make you second guess everything..? When those thoughts creep in is your first instinct to just give up what you are doing, or do you flip the direction you are going in so that it is more aligned? I was asking myself these questions only 8 episodes into this podcast. Now don’t get me wrong, I was enjoying it but I was feeling lost about the direction I wanted it to go. I was feeling lost with content, I wasn’t sure what I could do to make it more fun, and self doubt was punching me in the face! Then enter my 1:1 that helped open my eyes and granted me the permission, that I could have given myself but was too scared to do so, to make BIG changes to this podcast!
Now I am a handful of episodes in and am changing things up because I have a better picture of where I want this to go.. because putting in the reps and doing the action creates clarity… I put in the reps and now I have more clarity than I did on episode 1. I’m flipping it all around and revamping things…. Which leads me into the new name of the podcast of LET'S FLIP THE SWITCH!!!!!!!!!
With this transition, I literally had to flip the switch and not let my anxiety or the stories that I was telling myself win! So Let’s Flip the Switch is going to be all about rewriting the stories that we tell ourselves, navigating anxiety and mental health, starting scared, and staying with it even when we feel like giving up! I’m so excited for this new direction and for all the amazing people I am going to have on this podcast to talk about these topics with you! In the last year or so I have had to personally flip the switch with all the topics that I just listed!
Starting scared means just going for it even if you don’t have all the answers figured out yet. I’ve had to flip the switch with navigating anxiety and being open about my struggle, because no one should go through it alone. Flipping the stories you tell yourself and re-writing them is so important because that gives you the power to find out how even the suckiest of situations can still serve you. And lastly, learning how to pivot and stay with something even when you feel like giving up is important because life isn’t always easy, but you have the power to take inventory and make changes.
I'm so excited for this new direction and am SO pumped to go through all this together!

How often do you let the fear of failure stop you from trying something new, going for the promotion, making new friends, having that hard conversation.........fill in the blank?!
If you are human like me, I’m assuming that you could fill in the blank with at least ONE time where you let the fear of failure pop in the drivers seat.
What if instead of fearing failure, you embraced it? What if you replaced the word failure with learning or growth opportunity? If you did that, then can you really fail?
When you replace the word and definition of failure with the question of, what can I learn even if it doesn’t go right…. All the doors of possibility start to to open. Having this mindset opens up new opportunities and allows you the ability to try something out for size because in the end…. You can’t fail if you use each moment as a moment of growth or a new learning opportunity.
So let’s continue to learn and grow in ever season.. through successes and “failures”. Because if you gain something in that season.. then it is NOT a failure… whos with me?!

Welcome to another mindset moment!
Today I just wanted to remind you to give yourself some dang grace! It is so easy to get frustrated when things don't go the way you want, but it is okay! Thing can't be perfect all the time!
If you can't give yourself grace with the small things, how do you expect to be able to do that when you face something bigger?!
So I challenge you to start practicing giving yourself more grace and to learn that sometimes it's okay to go with the flow! You need to do what works for you so that you can show up as the best version of YOU!
You freaking got this! xoxo

This week I'm sharing about what has helped me in my anxiety journey and hopefully they can help you to!
The 5 tips that I talk about it are:
#1: Have open and honest communication about your anxiety! This has been KEY for me! It was important to let my family, friends, husband know how I was feeling so that they would understand why I was acting the way that I was, and they were able to offer support and encouragement!
And remember we are BETTER TOGETHER!!!!!!!! We do NOT have to go through this alone.
PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR OWN PRIDE STAND IN THE WAY AND STOP YOU FROM BEING A HAPPIER AND HEALTHIER YOU ♡♡♡♡

Welcome to the first mindset moment! These are going to be short and fiery episodes that you can come back to when you need that little pep in your step, or need a reminder that you can take the negative story you are telling yourself and flip it into something that is actually serving you.
Having a positive mindset does NOT have to be impossible and It does NOT mean that you have to be happy all the time. It just means that you allow yourself the ability to look past a certain situation and try and find some good amongst the bad or frustration.
So I want to challenge you in the current week to try out a positive mindset. That in a moment when things are not going the way you want, you try and find one way that the situation can serve you. Just try and find one thing to be thankful for….. or try and look at things from a different perspective.

I mean... who hasn't found themselves wishing away the current season that they are in?!
My hope for this episode is that it will provide you with some tips and tricks to flip this story you tell yourself into something that can actually SERVE you.
So, how often have you found yourself struggling with feeling content where you are, or wishing away the current season that you are in? I feel like we can get so caught up in a vision or goal, that we forget the series of steps that are crucial for us to get there. Sometimes we need to take a step back and think about even just the one thing that you are learning in the day to day.. because if you are learning at least one thing, then that is reason enough to be content where your feet are.
Here are three things that I found to be helpful when those feeling start to creep in:
1.) Practice Gratitude
2.) Do an Attitude Check
3.) STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS
Guys, we only have ONE life, so why waste energy wishing away the precious moments that we have?! Even the hard, unsexy, annoying moments can serve us.

EmpowerHer Podcast Episode mentioned : July 27, 2020:
Are you just waiting for the NEXT thing to feel PROUD? Music by Asepirawan20 from Pixabay
It's time to put on those blinders because it is so easy to look around and see what others are doing, and then in that moment compare their journey to yours!
But guess what?!?!?! Your path is going to look different than hers. Your story is going to look different than hers. You were given unique gifts and talents that others don't have, so why would you try and minimize them just to be like someone else?
The comparison trap does nothing except rob you of joy. The more you try to be like someone else the more you lose yourself in the process.... and what is the point of that?!
You are uniquely you. So have fun, find the joy, be a little crazy, live each day to its fullest and BE YOU.

I am SO excited to share this podcast with you and I couldn’t think of a better topic for my FIRST episode than the concept of waiting for the perfect timing! Cause, lets be real, does that even exist?! NOPE.
When we wait for the perfect time or until we have things figured out perfectly, we are setting ourselves up to fail! Cause guys, if perfection doesn’t exist, how do we think we are going to even accomplish it!?!
Do you use the excuse of waiting for the perfect time because you are nervous to start or think that waiting will mean you will be more successful? If you wait maybe you will have more time, knowledge, confidence, growth, money.......but do you see what’s wrong with that? Life is always busy, how will you gain more knowledge if you don’t try something out for size? You don't gain confidence by waiting, you gain confidence and knowledge by ACTION.
What’s the point of it being perfect anyway? That’s boring!
So girl, lets stop these thoughts in their tracks, and just take the first messy step… because remember, confidence and experience are gained by ACTION, not by waiting!
