Luke invites in Tiffany Anton to talk about being a single parent and what it looks like to try to NOT be a single parent. Luke is pretty terrible at all relationships - so Tiffany's wisdom absolutely carries the episode.

Luke talks about how we wear a lot of hats and have a lot of roles we operate in. Work, Family, Friendships, Church, Community... sometimes we can let our identity be defined by the roles we have. Luke talks about whether that is a good thing or not and starts the conversation about how we deal with it.
Luke and Tiffany sit down and talk about how selfishness can lead to entitlement and believing you "deserve" something. They talk about family, work and other relationships. Tiffany does most the talking, as usual.
Luke talks about a killer of gratitude - selfishness. Giving us a baseline of 4 kinds of selfishness that we see all around us everyday. He shares some ways to identify it and talks about the damage it can cause in relationships.
Luke talks more about what he is thankful for, specifically the connections he has with his kids and the healthy co-parenting relationship with their mom.

Tiffany shares with us what she is thankful for and we talk a little bit about fast food. It is super good, like you are going to love it and tell everyone about it.
Harvard says Gratitude makes you happier and makes your relationships stronger. Who am I to argue with Harvard.
Character is built, not given. We work and instill traits in our lives that lead to good character. One of those traits is Thankfulness for what we ARE given.
Loyalty might be considered a good character trait by many, but the truth is that "judgement on what to be loyal to" is the secret sauce.
Luke and David discuss the importance of "bearing with one another" as they discuss what promotes good character. This episode talks a little about the church and the responsibility we have as Christians to forgive. It is a good one. Rated 5 stars by Luke Ramey.
Luke and Kim sat down and talked about the importance of being intentionally inclusive as a way to develop "good character". Luke also compares himself with Dawson Leary - which is immediately rejected by Kim.
Luke and Craig sit down and discuss what "Good Character" looks like and Craig suggests "selflessness" as a character trait that is crucial. Luke agrees.
Obviously on a list of good character traits is "integrity". We chat about how integrity isn't beholden to a moral position - it is just a consistency of what you are doing and saying.
When we talk about having Good Character - it includes being comfortable enough to hear and consider new ideas. This doesn't mean we always implement them - but it does mean we listen and respond in a way that builds up the person sharing the new idea with us.
We talk about how generosity is a part of our Character and how generosity, done right, seeks out opportunity to give - time, money and words of encouragement.
Today we continue the look at Character by talking about what it means to be honest about who you are and what your expectations are.
Today we talk about Character and the importance of not cutting corners in our business, personal life and family.
Definitely not a fan favorite for those who love Saturday Night Live, but for sure my all-time favorite cast member. Always funny, best Weekend Update host for me, for sure.

We look at Afghanistan in this episode and the progressive moves they are making with women in their culture. Although these things may not seem that progressive to a western world - compared to the last time that the Taliban ruled Afghanistan - this is pretty huge. It also is a nice sign that the Taliban, viewed as some of the most conservative for Islamic Governments, is able to progress with equality.

September 11th 2021 marks the 20 year anniversary of the terrible events of 9/11. We should never forget, but dwelling on it won't help us either. It seems popular in news media right now to look back and "Monday morning quarterback" all the decisions since those attacks and say that the response was wrong. That might be true, there might have been better solutions. But instead of dwelling on what could have been, lets look at what is in front of us and make the best choice we can in the here and now.

I grew up hearing "keep kids busy with good things and they won't have time to do bad things." Then in my 20's, planning to be a parent I start hearing "Kids are too busy with activities, they need time to just be kids." Which is right? probably neither. We talk today about how we need to all admit that kids are different and they require us to understand them before we make the rules.

In this episode I opine on my response to the documentary "Facing North" that highlights the life and history of the Jefferson Street neighborhood in Nashville. We look at how a lack of representation, from that community, in redevelopment totally decimated what was once a beautiful and lively area of the city that had a strong since of community.

I'm personally not a fan of working remotely, I love an office environment and I am very productive in that setting. I totally understand that all people aren't like me though. More importantly, maybe productivity is NOT the most important factor in the decision for a business to have remote workers?
