It is important that we not decide ahead of time what people cannot do. Instead, Barnabas models encouragement, seeing potential and gifting in others and coming along side them to speak life and hope into their lives. Barnabas’ encouragement, though he seems like a less significant character on the biblical narrative, actually had a major impact in the early church and even in the forming of the New Testament. We will never know how much our words can impact each other for the kingdom.
