Recorded from the lecture give on Zoom, on the 23rd of September 2021
Speaker: Wendy Bickmore, Director of the MRC Human Genetics Unit, Institute of Genetics and Cancer at the University of Edinburgh.
Talk Title: “Function and dysfunction in the non-coding genome”
Professor Bickmore’s talk focused on non-coding genetic elements called “enhancers”, how they regulate our genes often over very large genomic distances, and the role of 3D genome organisation in enhancer mechanisms of action. The talk also discussed the role of enhancers in human disease.
