Let's talk jokes...

Society loves to joke at other people's expense. Whether it's because they feel uncomfortable or they want to feel cool whatever it is it might be funny to you, but it's not funny to the person who's life it affects.

As we all start to head out of lockdown let's take a moment to be mindful of others. Support and respect people's decisions to continue shield or run for freedom out their door. Whatever they decide is up to them. Why? Because life is complicated full of so many layers that the world doesn't see and that's it. It's their life so let them do it their way.

Getting a diagnosis can be the best and worst moment. It's a complicated mixture of emotion. It doesn't mean you're a freak or you can't do things, it just means there is an added layer to your life, your personality, your journey.

But hey it's ok because we have amazing people like Erin Judge providing us with tips and tricks on what to ask our doctors and more importantly how to take back control of our life.

So sit back, grab a cuppa and be inspired by Erin's personal journey with IBS.

Stay present and ignore your inner critic ... it's difficult right?

You can often be left feeling broken, secluded and like an alien in this world.

Well that's ok many of us feel this way, especially during the current world situation. But it doesn't mean you have to accept feeling this way.

Discover how to own your life with today's podcast guest Natalia. A mental health advocate, yoga and meditation teacher who overcame the negatives to inspire and help others just like her with their mental health journey.

Doctors can't tell you everything about the day to day life of living with a mental health condition. That's why it's so important to educate yourself and others, connect with groups, listen to podcasts and talk openly. We should never be ashamed of who we are or the challenges we face, so let's come together and help each other. Surely that's a more fulfilling way to live right?

It's time for a reality check...

Let's be honest are we taking our own advice ?

Are we taking care of ourselves mentally and physically

Are we being honest with ourselves & those around us ?

Are we doing what we preach ?

This episode scares me so much because this week's guest is me ... But I'm not talking about my health conditions, oh no, this week I felt a strong urge to be real with you all and show you that sometimes we don't have it all together and that's ok .

We shouldn't be ashamed of that and we shouldn't feel embarrassed or the need to hide. instead we should show it so people just like me and those younger don't think that this is the way society should be.

So here is an honest account of where I'm at right now and some tips and tricks on how to check in with yourself mentally as well as physically to make sure you are looking after all of yourself in this current time.

Please check it out & share it's important everyone knows that they are not alone ! My DMS are always open so please feel free to reach out.

Hello and welcome to 'Have a Cuppa Unmasked'

This episode is all about why I created 'Have a Cuppa Unmasked' and what I hope to achieve from it.

I set up this podcast as I myself suffer from various invisible illnesses such as Lupus and am fed up with the stigma surrounding invisible illnesses. I initially set up a Vlog documenting my experience and journey with stigma and Lupus via my youtube channel 'Helena's Health Hike', but then decided it wasn't enough. I understand I wont be able to eliminate the stigma by myself, but I had to try. So I set up this podcast as a way of discussing the stigma surrounding invisible illnesses with other people who also have an invisible illness. By sharing our experiences, not only are we raising awareness of invisible illnesses but we are TOGETHER beating the stigma surrounding it.

I hope this podcast brings comfort to those who are suffering and awareness to those that do not understand. Please be king, educate yourself and support each other. The world is better when we work together.
