The neighbors in the Southside of Milwaukee share more than a location where they live, they share a sense of community. A community that gives them a sense of belonging, where people work together to resolve issues that affect them through commitment and togetherness. In this segment, we are talking to Brad Rutter, a community organizer who will share with us his experience working in the Southside neighborhood of Milwaukee.

In this episode, Adelante Pronto talks to Sonia and Victor Vernier a Milwaukee couple that are owners and trainers at Vive la Fitness, a bilingual gym located in the Southside of our city, about their new business and later how they adapted and implemented the new personal protective equipment required by the new safety guidelines during the pandemic.

In this episode, we talk to Ana Solano-Pacheco, a Bilingual Family Counselor from Penfield Children’s Center, and discuss her experiences while serving Latino families in our community. We also talk about the stress and mental health challenges that Latino families experience during virtual learning and remote work.
The holiday season is usually a joyful time for many families as they look forward to gathering with relatives and celebrating traditions. However, COVID-19 and physical distancing have brought a new kind of stress this year. We chat with Ana Solano-Pacheco about how Latino families can cope with the fact that holidays will be different this year as Latinos prepare to celebrate traditions in a different way, and a much smaller family setting.
What does Veterans Day mean to you? Adelante Pronto!has the honor to talk to George Banda, a Vietnam veteran who will share with us some of his memories, and what Veterans Day means to him and his family.
George Banda served in the U. S. Army and in December of 1969, he joined the elite “Screaming Eagles” 101st Airborne Division, as a combat medic. As a member of the 101st Airborne Division, he earned many distinguished commendations in Vietnam.
George and his wife Lorraine, call Milwaukee home. He continues to serve veterans as Adjutant of Milwaukee County Purple Heart, Chapter #818, and is a founding member, and Past State Commander of the American GI-Forum, a National Latino veteran’s organization. He is a life member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Vietnam Veterans of America. A proud member of the 101st Airborne Division Association and serves as the Secretary of the Old Abe Chapter, Inc. of Wisconsin. He is the past president of the Allied Veterans Council of Milwaukee County and is the current president of the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center Veterans Board and a member of the War Memorial Board of Trustees. George Banda sits on many other committee’s throughout the state of Wisconsin as an advocate for all Veterans.
Adelante Pronto! talked to Rita Saavedra from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield about services they provide including the importance of having health insurance, Telehealth and mental health services. She also shared how Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield is providing different services and engaging in our Milwaukee Latino community during this difficult time of COVID 19.

Adelante Pronto! spoke with Luz Chaparro Hernández, a teacher in Milwaukee Public Schools, and talked about her experiences during this period of the pandemic and how it has affected her personally and professionally. As the mother of a recent high school graduate, we also talked about the end of the virtual school year and the transition to college in the midst of an uncertain environment. She also shared how she is coping with school expectations, and how she is preparing her students and parents for the new virtual school year in the midst of Covid-19.
