The Mike and Mekhi Podcast is a discussion- based podcast covering a range of topics from sports to pop culture. The goal of this platform is to provide a thought-provoking space for sports discourse and relatable conversations. Mike and Mekhi are currently college Seniors at Howard University. From New York and New Jersey respectively, their shared love of sports led them to the track team together.
To open episode 9, we follow along with our Winter MEAC postseason tournaments, as well as assess the football team’s recent recruiting cycle, in which they secured 6 3 star recruits. In the NFL, free agency and blockbuster trades have been making headlines by the hour. Hours before this episode, we received word of the Russell Wilson trade, and analyze it on the Pod, particularly what it means for both teams going forward . With the draft just a month and a half out, we anticipate many teams will begin to make trades and acquisitions. For the umpteenth time, we debate if Dak Prescott is overrated and/or overpaid(there is a right answer). Finally, it’s been 3 years since MEAC champion co-host Mekhi has competed , and that ends tomorrow. Wish us luck on the season, and pop some popcorn.

Thank you for your patience! Ironically enough, this episode is more about us than any of them. About our journeys, respective places in life right now and what the future holds. Some of the lighter topics include how Mekhi would fix the Pro Bowl and yet another defense of Vanilla Vick by Mike. Keep a look out for our next two episodes, one before Mekhi’s first meet in 3 years, and one with a great friend and mentor of ours! Stay blessed- M & M

Loyal listeners and first-timers alike, welcome to the return of the best duo since Calvin and Hobbes. Mike and Mekhi have been hard at work on and off the track and are excited to get back in stride behind the microphone. Listen as we preview the superbowl , highlight HBCU athletics, and speculate where a few of our favorite prospects might land. Would you believe it if we said there was a part 2? 🤫 Follow @mikeandmekhi on twitter for more!

Super special episode 6 of the M/M Pod ft. Adrian Owusu. As always, we talk HBCU sports including Howard football’s rollercoaster final game, and FAMU’s playoff berth. We also discuss privilege within the NFL and who most benefits from it. Tune in to hear why Mekhi thinks Daniel Jones is a tight end, why Wu thinks Derrick Carr might be that guy and why Mike was always a believer in Michael Pittman Jr. Recorded: 11.23.21.
First, we have to start with a birthday shoutout for our phenomenal co-host Mekhi! Just last week, he celebrated his 22nd birthday, so wish him one! The NFL trade deadline recently passed, and was entertaining for a number of reasons. One of which, was a trade that did not happen, but instead a release of WR Odell Beckham Jr. We speculate at length about the Odell sweepstakes(which is still going on), who could best benefit from his usage and what he may have left. We celebrate Jackson State finally being ranked, shoutout the revelation for Howard that is Ian Wheeler and ponder NCAT’s first season in the Big South.

We kick off episode 4 of the Mike and Mekhi podcast covering the news that rocked the NFL. Former Raiders coach Jon Gruden recently had a slew of old emails uncovered. We break down what we know about these emails, how this looks for the NFL, and the lessons that we can pull from the situation. Another polarizing topic, we discussed the latest on Kyrie Irving’s vaccination status. Can the nets win without him? Will he report to the team vaccinated at some point? Shifting gears to the NFL, we go through the MVP candidates through the first quarter of the season. The word “valuable” is heavily debated, as we look at who does the most for their team with the least. We round out the NFL coverage with biggest surprises and biggest disappointments thus far. We close out with a brief conversation on HBCU football, including Wondering just how long coach Prime will be at Jackson state. Make sure to follow us on Twitter @mikeandmekhi and happy homecoming!

On episode 3 of the Mike and Mekhi podcast, we conduct our first wine down Wednesday. These days are dedicated to more than sports, and double as our lightest day of the week. We are also joined by good friend of the podcast and environmentalist at Howard Jayla Wade. She joins us for an open conversation on parenting and societal norms on inter familial relationships. We discuss the dynamics between a father and a son, sitting in the front seat, and financial maturity. Shifting gears, we also address the complexities and nuances of black hair, specifically locs. Jayla ends the podcast with a note on the state of the environment and the way it relates to identity. Follow us on our official Twitter page @mikeandmekhi and look out for us on Instagram.
Welcome back! In episode 2, we discuss the culture shift at ESPN. With a variety of personnel and programming changing at the network, we explore what that means for their future.
