It’s fall ya’ll! That means spooky season is here. Today we are getting into some “horrors” some black, introvertedwomen face. In general, Black introverted women may find it challengingto assert themselves in the workplace, even though assertiveness is a characteristic that’s often rewarded. In addition, introverted Black women may also face stereotypes that suggest they are less confident or capable than their extroverted counterparts. Also, we feel pressure to conform to certain culturalexpectations, which can be exhausting for introverted individuals who thrive on introspection and deeper connections.Vote for next episode topic right HEREIf you've found this or any other episode at all relatable or helpful please consider sharing with a loved one or friend. One of the most difficult things for introverts to do can be coming out of your shell. It’s warm, comfortable, and safe inside. Unfortunately, your shell leaves little room for growth within its rigid confines, which is why it is necessary, on occasion, to nudge yourself outside of your shell so real growth and expanded horizons can occur. These five tips will help you by offering just the push you need to move beyond your comfort zone, so you can enjoy the rewards of doing so

This episode explores two women who purposefully chose to have black doulas/ midwives for several reasons including wanting to be "heard" and fear of black maternal and infant death rates. I also share my own story as it relates to both the infant and the maternal mortality rate.
Here are a few stats I pulled from the article discussed:
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services stresses that because Black women have a higher chance of developing chronic diseases associated with pregnancy-related mortality, it’s critical they have constant support and education throughout their pregnancy to improve outcomes. Compared with white women, Black women experience higher mortality from cardiomyopathy, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and hemorrhaging, according to a study by the Women’s Health Research Institute in New York.
Black mothers may also fear for their own lives. Black women have a maternal mortality rate of 37.3 per 100,000 live births, which is more than twice the rate of white women (14.9 per 100,000 live births), according to a 2020 report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“Modern European medicine has always been against us,” Hylton said, referring to Black women. “A lot of (women of color) don’t make it through childbirth.”

Introverts make wonderful parents. It comes with a few challenges, the world seems top favor more extroverted personalities. However, being an introvert won’t take anything away from you being a dope parent. Actually, your kids will get something extra special from you. There are benefits that come with being an introverted parent. Your personality and your parenting style might be different, but you are doing what is best for you and your child. Not everyone can be the parent who is always on the go, or who invites neighborhood children over for snacks or initiates playdate. Realizing you are an introverted parent does not mean that you will not provide for your child. You will provide, but it will be different from an extroverted parent.
