Why are our families and nation in such a mess? The simple answer is that the modern Church has separated itself from its Biblical and historical doctrines and practices. If our nation is to be healed, we must turn from the inventions of our hearts and back to Christ and His holy Church. If not, we are doomed for more of the same.

Societies become apostate due to the absence of the true Church, which is the pillar and ground of the truth. Truth is fallen in the streets because the American Church is apostate. If America is ever to be restored, the true Church must first be restored because it is the only agency capable of restoring the family and civil society.

In 2016 the Indiana GOP super majority has proposed Senate Bill 100 in an attempt to expand civil rights protections for LGBT behaviors, which would allow men identifying themselves as women to have access to women's bathrooms, showers and locker rooms. Reformed Church of the Holy Trinity and Covenant Commission ademately opposes any legislation that would protect perverse behavior of any kind. The Psalmist asked in Psalm 11:3, ""If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?" The Psalmist does not answer this question as it is meant to stimulate meditation in the context of trusting in the Lord. This question is urgent as we see the foundations of our society crumbling all around us.

How are Christians and the Church to respond to SCOTUS, POTUS and the rest of society? The Bible contains the answer and the First Century Church provides the answer. The problem is that we do not know what to do but neglect to do our duty. What we are really looking for is an excuse to continue our apathetic irresponsibility. This is true in our relationship to God, our Church, our spouses, children and society. Our cry for counseling, encouragement, new information, ideas and so on is really abdication. Most of our problems really boil down to basic answers and such is the case with the profanation of marriage ruling by the Supreme Court. The answer is simple: confidence from the Gospel, commitment to the Gospel and consecration within the Gospel.

America is collapsing right before our eyes. She has never been perfect but there is a night and day difference from what she was to what she has become. Our fall continues to escalate every day and we are now at the breaking point.
Then, to top it off, last week a psychotic lone gunman entered a historic black church and killed nine people who were peacefully gathered for Bible study. While the gunman is an obvious psychopath, it has set off a chain of events that continues to push us toward civil unrest.
During a time when we ought to be mourning the tragic and murderous deaths of nine of our countrymen, we are engaged in political discourse hoping to slow down the efforts of those who desire to put the final nail in the coffin.
Although it is argued that we should back off from engaging in the cultural battles that have erupted, we really have no choice but to respond to the offensive attacks against our religious and civil liberties. We are against the ropes and it appears we are going down for the count.
Yet, it does not have to be this way. Instead of allowing our enemies to tear us apart, it is time to come together. If this is ever to happen, it can only begin if we are all willing to confess and turn from our sins with a willingness to engage in open discussion so that we might be unified in the faith and against those who seek to destroy the people of God.
In this episode of Standing Firm, we will begin this conversation within the context of the Reformed church. It is our hope that others will join us so that we might unite in truth and go forth united in truth to advance the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

In this episode of Standing Firm, we will be discussing at least two recent examples of this. First, is Danny Akin’s praise of Openly Secular, a group that is associated with People for the American Way, Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, the ACLU, Freedom from Religion Foundation, Military Religious Freedom Foundation and many other abominable organizations. Danny Akin is the president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and the College at Southeastern. He is considered a conservative within the Southern Baptist Convention. Yet, we find him joining with unbelievers, infidels and idolators.
Our second example is the North Alabama United Methodist Church. As they are closing 9 churches due to the decline in United Methodist Church, they issued four unbiblical resolutions.

Many compromising Evangelicals attempt to advance their antinomian agenda by appealing to Jesus as if all of Scripture are not inspired, infallible, certain and sufficient. However, their appeal is not to the Jesus of the Scriptures but to the modern Hollywood "Jesus."

Since the Scriptures declare there is one Lord, one faith and one baptism, then why does the modern Evangelical Church look so different than anything ever defined or practiced by the historical Church? The answer is simple: they call it Emergent but God calls it apostasy.

There is a reason why we are largely unsuccessful in our attempts to build and advance the kingdom of Jesus Christ. Quite simply, we are in error and rebellion against the Word of God. Nothing happens in a vacuum. If we are going to make progress in rebuilding the house of the Lord in this culture then we must work in obedience to God and His Word. If the roots are corrupt the plant will not bear good fruit. If the foundations are crumbling the house shall not stand. We must build but we cannot build with four necessary elements.

However, it is not just Warren but is a complete surrender of Protestants. What we are witnessing is the Evangelical Can-Can. Evangelicals are flirting and fornicating in the religious brothels also called the synagogues of Satan. Just like the Church of Thyatira in Revelation 2:20, the Lord has a few things against the modern Evangelical Church because she is allowing the whore Jezebel to teach and seduce the servants of God to commit fornication through the enticement of the Evangelical Can-Can.
In this program we begin to set forth the truth concerning our separation and disagreements with Rome. After 400 years many Protestants are ready to call off their protest but we cannot lest we deny Christ and the Gospel. Therefore, we will continue to call the world to conformity to Christ and His Word and condemn those who seek appeasement.

This research poll reveals the revival of the old heresies among Americans. In this podcast we focus more on the results of the survey in relation to Evangelicals to show this apostasy is not just among liberals but those considered conservatives. Before there can be change we must understand the problems we face. However, this series is not just a complaint but proclaims the solution. The Church is the pillar and ground of the truth. Yet, in this time of our greatest need, the best the modern American Church can muster is the Harlem Shake. Marine veteran Brandon Raub was detained by local law enforcement with the assistance of the FBI. He has not been charged with any crime but is being held in a mental hospital to determine sanity for posting patriotic information on his Facebook page. Raub is a political prisoner being detained for certain political beliefs. He committed no actions to warrant such an abuse of his constitutional rights. This is purely political. Covenant Commission has warned of the rise of Christian persecution in America. That persecution is no longer a distant threat but a present reality. Communists infiltrated our educational, religious, and political institutions throughout the 1900's. They have produced several generations of Christ-hating radicals. Last year a Christian pastor was arrested for conspiracy to abuse children because of a sermon in which he advocated corporal punishment according to the commands of Scripture. In 1918, Congress began investigating Communist infiltration into American society. Better Dead Than Red was an anti-communist slogan used by American's against the rise of global communism. It is a phrase that is not readily accepted among the compassionate conservatives of the 21st Century. Last week, Ted Nugent, the right-wing rock n' roller expressed those sentiments at the NRA covention. Since then, Nugent has came under scrutiny by the liberal media, liberal politicians, and even the Secret Service. On The Covenanter Report, we will also scrutinize the words of Nugent to see if he really did make a violent threat as reported by the news media or if he was simply expressing the old conservative slogan Better Dead Than Red in Uncle Ted fashion. A couple weeks ago, a decorated Marine was killed by Pima County SWAT. Members of SWAT fired 71 times into Jose Guerena's in less than 10 seconds hitting him 22 times. Wednesday evening into Thursday morning, killer storms decimated the South. Over 200 people are reported dead with the death toll expected to rise. In Georgia, at least 13 have been confirmed so far. Two adults were killed by a tornado just outside of Barnesville about 5 miles from Covenant Commission. Several families among our Reformed brethren were also hit hard by this storm. We know of one family who has lost everything and another family who lost their father/husband. The power of God was on display, not only in the might of the storms but also in the works of His people. We call upon our brothers and sisters to join with us in prayer and fasting, asking God to forgive us of our transgressions and have mercy upon us. America is under the complete control of the wicked this should remind us of God's judgment and our need for Him. However, we must remember that the blessings and cursings of God upon a land fall upon the just and unjust alike. We will discuss the importance of this topic in hopes of American Christians understanding that this land is our responsibility. Abdication of our responsibilities will only bring God's judgment upon the just and unjust alike. We will discuss how Christians must respond to crisis.
On April 21, 2011, the LA Times reported Obama warned "our work is not finished." He went on to state he needs another term to "finish everything we need to do." Obama has increased the pressure to completely transform America under communism. We are being warned not only out of their own mouths but also by the Word of God. They are completely out of control and if their is any hope for liberty, we must bind them in chains once again.

Jerry was the senior writer and researcher for the best selling documentaries Amazing Grace: The History & Theology of Calvinism and The Marks of a Cult: A Biblical Analysis. He also was the author of corresponding study guides for both films.
Jerry is a member of the Board of Regents for Whitefield Theological Seminary and serves as an adjunct professor at Knox Theological Seminary and Veritas Theological Seminary.
