We talk about how expensive children are and how the SouthEast has superior gas station markets.

We also took a bit of a dive into his favorite energy drinks this season, his answer might surprise you!

In today's episode of the podcast I talk with a guy from the Upper Peninsula region of Michigan about what the industry is like out that way. Mack works with his uncle mostly logging pro=ivate jobs for small timberland owners. It was a fun conversation about how different logging is depending on where you're at in the country.

Mack has a big following on social media and we talked about how social media can be a curse and a blessing, depending on how you use it.

If you want to find him online, search "Logger Mack" on every social media platform except "X" (Twitter). Mack is my second guest in a row who also enjoys black coffee instead of energy drinks.

In today's episode I talk with Jake Hendrickson about how he ended up driving a lowboy in the woods. Jake has a pretty cool story, and he's been at it for a while. He is also driving my favorite lowboy truck of all time, Mike Coop's W900. Jake works for Robert Howell Logging and they are currently looking for some hands. For those of you who don't know Mike, he passed away a couple years ago in a freak accident. I'm going to miss that guy for the rest of my life. He wasn't really the type you would say that to, but I think he knew I had a lot of respect for him.

This is episode 13 of The Landing Podcast.

This is the first edition of the bonus segment I'm calling Cork Boots & Photo Shoots.  In these bonus segments we will dive into the timber industry from other directions, interviewing folks who are not boots on the ground in the woods every day and folks who may work in industries that support the timber industry.  I also thought it would be the perfect segment to open the podcast up to people outside the United States Pacific Northwest.

Kelway is a great candidate to kick off this bonus segment being from British Columbia and currently holding a sales role with Timbermax traction assist systems.  More on their products can be seen at www.timbermax.ca

Kelway will also be attending the Timbermax booth at the Oregon Logging Conference this year so swing by his booth and let him know you listened to the podcast!

In this episode I talk with Spencer Tuyls about what it's like working in the woods as an equipment operator, running shovel mostly.  We get into some of his pet peeves and what he likes about working in the woods.  Spencer and I know a lot of the same people so we talk about some of those guys too.  We also dive into why I have a personal connection with one of PER Trucking's "beaters" as they call them.

If you enjoy these podcasts please share them, I don't run ads for ball shavers and cat litter on the show because that's what everyone else does and I hate listening to them too. If you would like to be on the show, send me an email at jason@jdavenportphotography.com

The Oregon Logging Conference is just a couple weeks out, February 24th-26th.  I hope to see everyone there.

In this weeks episode we go over the hill with Darren Hall from Pacific Logging and Processing. We touch on his history in the industry, the highs the lows of running a big tower side, egos and industry trade shows.  We also talk about breakfast burritos and Marlboros and how it "must be nice".

Bruer's Contract Cutting from Dallas, Oregon is not closing it's doors.  I figured Darren was talking about an outfit from Washington but he was not. Words spread in this industry like wildfire and Darren and I are both deeply sorry to Mike Bruer and everyone at Bruer's for spreading false information.  I am editing this episode on the same day that Mike notified me of the rumor being spread here.  I want to end this with a request to my listeners, if you have any questions about anything on the episodes please reach out to me so we can nip these things in the bud.  Thank You
