We as sports fans have our own crazy stories and experiences of watching our favourite athlete/team play at the home ground, meet them accidentally on a street, had a small conversation, took a selfie/autograph, witnessed the greatest match live from the ground, played the game at the professional level or work in the sports industry.

Saransh Karnawat aka SMASH, Participation & Club Development Officer at AusCycling, shared his experiences and journey of working in the sports industry. Smash was involved in several sports during his undergraduate days in India and along with that worked as a sports journalist with the Times group (interviewed Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri). His passion for Australian Cricket and Ricky Pointing made him choose Melbourne to pursue his Masters in Sports Management. In the past 5 years in Australia, Smash has been a part of several sporting events and organisations which includes: Australian Open, Melbourne Grand Prix, Cricket Victoria, Cricket Australia, TLA, ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020, Commonwealth Games Gold Coast 2018. A fellow sports management graduate from Deakin University, I had Shiv Ranjit for this episode.
Shiv is currently working as an Advertising Specialist at Softball NSW. Prior to this role, he worked and interned at major sports organisations which include Tennis Australia, Rajasthan Royals, ICC, Cricket Australia, SportsHosts.
He spoke about his journey and experiences working in different organisations and the key takeaway from working in the sports industry.
Shiv started following Rajasthan Royals (RR) when Rahul Dravid moved to RR from Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) and continued supporting RR even after he retired. It came to a full circle for him when he got the opportunity to intern with RR in Jaipur for a month in IPL 2019. Later on, he joined a team of RR fans who runs the official fan page of RR.

We spoke to Vicky Goyal, an IT professional and founder of a grassroots fantasy sports platform MyClubtap.
Being a cricket fan, Vicky spent hours at cybercafe picking his team on ESPN Super Selector, the fantasy cricket game in the early 2000s. After arriving in Melbourne and being a part of a community cricket club, Vicky thought of running a fantasy game for his club where users have an option to select players from the club itself and score points based on their performance on the weekend’s match. Initially, it started on pen and paper and he moved on to excel sheets.
MyClubtap has evolved and improved over the years and it is now a complete web-based platform where a club can easily set up its own fantasy game. The platform has 200+ cricket clubs registered and recently six new sports were introduced on MyClubtap: Footy (AFL), Football (Soccer), Hockey, Netball, Basketball and Rugby Union. Vicky spoke about the journey and challenges faced working on MyClubtap in this episode.

The second part of the episode with Mehul Gala is up. Mehul is in the IT industry by profession, but a passionate cricket fan at heart.
In this part, Mehul speaks about his memory of the inaugural World T20 Cup in 2007 won by India. The first world cup victory that the current generation witnessed and which also fuelled the IPL, the best T20 tournament in the world.
On his crazy journey to watch the Indian team in action in the stadiums, the 2011 ODI World Cup which was hosted in India could not have come at a more perfect time than this. The lottery system for tickets didn’t help much but Mehul managed to grab tickets for two India matches.
Mehul shares his stadium experiences of the two matches and the finals victory celebration outside Wankhede stadium at Marine Drive.

We bring you a special 2-parts episode with Mehul Gala. Mehul is in the IT industry by profession, but a passionate cricket fan at heart.
In this first part, Mehul speaks about his first conscious memories of playing and watching cricket growing up in the city of Mumbai. Every Mumbai kid can relate to his story of playing with different cricket balls, arm actions and different setups of playing inside the home, on building floors, society, gully, roads and maidans.
Mehul went on this crazy journey of following the Indian Cricket Team playing at different venues in India and was fortunate to witness a few iconic moments of Indian cricket.

In the first-ever episode of the Sportify Club podcast, we interviewed Vaibhav Deshpande.
Vaibhav is a former Ranji trophy player and played for the Rajasthan team. Ranji Trophy, which is the national level first-class cricket tournament played in India. He is currently working in Kookaburra, one of the biggest sporting gear companies in Australia.
He shared his journey to the debut Ranji Trophy match in 2008 vs Hyderabad and the distinct memories from the game that he might never forget. Playing alongside some stars of the domestic circuit and some of them who represented India was a great learning experience for Vaibhav.
From playing cricket in India to pursuing Masters in Sports Management at Deakin University in Australia was not that easy for Vaibhav. Towards the end, Vaibhav briefly spoke about his role and responsibilities at Kookaburra.
