Are you ever curious about what goes on in the lives of other people? How do other people live their lives when no one is watching and is the grass truly greener on the other side? We rarely grasp someone's full story on first impressions and the shopfront windows of social media never tell the whole story. So, what happens when life happens to us, for us or against us? How do we deal with what life throws at us, what are the circumstances that shape us and ultimately, who do we become? My name is Timothy Born and this is the Curious Bystander where you get the full story of what life is like for someone that isn't you.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to grow up in Pakistan? My guest today is Saeed Chugtai who did grow up in Pakistan during the Russian and Taliban occupation and has quite a story to tell.
From selling police cars to pay bills to bombs dropping in the capital of Islamabad. He shares with us how love and poetry are woven into its culture and how living in Pakistan is shaping character and connection. I very much enjoyed my conversation with Saeed and I am sure you will too.
Claire and I sat down to discuss her first-person experience in living through a tough quarter of a century marriage that had gone toxic. How do you notice that your relationship is not working anymore? When do you bring it up? How do you bring it up? And what if the other person does not hear or see you, what then? In this episode of the curious bystander, Claire allows us to become part of her journey through her relationship and she shares her learnings with us.
I want to thank Claire for her openness and courage in sharing her story with us.

My guest today is Brenden Tailor who, at the age of 19 fell off a roof and woke up paralysed in hospital. Unable to walk or talk Brenden lost everything he thought he had and had to start from zero, literally. From learning how to walk and talk again to being in constant need of assistance for even the simplest things in life such as getting dressed or going to the bathroom.
Learn what it was like to be in Brenden's shoes and see how he took on the challenge to battle adversity for over ten years and how he came through. Hear what he has learned on his journey and who he became as a result of life's challenges.
I want to thank Brenden for being so open with me and discussing even the rather sensitive parts of his journey with us. It s not easy to be so vulnerable and it takes a courageous personality to share what he shares with us in the episode.
Thanks, Brenden for showing us what strength truly means!
