1. Demonstration of the Holy Spirit

about the Holy Spirit…

1. The Holy Spirit comes in you to save you, and He comes on you to use you

2. The Holy Spirit has moods, but He’s not moody

The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit. — ‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭8‬ (‭NIV‬‬)

What matters is not the different ways He comes, but that He knows how YOU need Him to come.

“Why should I let God decide how I live my life?”

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. – Romans 12v2 (NIV)

Three people see Jesus

• Mary magdalene, the one who went to Him first
• Peter, the one who walked in and looked inside
• John, the one who believes (sees the same thing as Peter)

Repentance - A change of mind that results in a change of action (usually a reversal of one’s decision)3 Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? 4 Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? 5 But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed. — Romans 2v3-5 (ESV)

Three ways to look at repentance:

• Legalism - “just stop sinning”
• Liberalism - “avoid it God loves you”
• The gospel - deep change as a response to Jesus

Be perfect (telios - complete, mature, whole) therefore as your Heavenly Father is perfect. — Matthew 5v48 (ESV)

Repentance isn’t about perfection… but a desire to be perfected.

Lessons from a donkey.

1. The colt was in a certain place

1) Manage being misunderstood (v5)

God loves to do stuff that no one else can take credit for.

He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. 3 He was despised and rejected by mankind a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. 2) Commit to the right place (v6)

God wants to do something so supernatural in your life that you can’t take credit for it.

2) Submit our plans and efforts to God

Hypostatic Union - the combination of divine and human natures in the person of Christ. (See Philippians 2)

What goes into a christian life?

1) Generous with our time

THE WAY - a New Testament term used for the earliest followers of Jesus.

1) Revelation is a grace

1) Jesus was struck so we could find salvation

2) Jesus was struck so we could be whole

You Know It’s Time To Move On

• When you’re no longer personally growing

Truths about the journey

1) God affirms us before He appoints us

5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you. 6 Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them. – Joshua 1v5-6 (ESV)

Some things you should know.

a) He has always existed…

The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life. — Job 33v4 (ESV)

b) He is 3rd member of the Godhead (Trinity)

We believe in one God; one divine BEING in three distinct PERSONS.

Why believe Trinity?

• The Bible teaches this doctrine.
• Christians everywhere have always believed it.
• No other explanation makes sense.

1In the beginning, God (elohim) created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. — Genesis 1v1-2 (ESV)

And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed. — John 17v4 (ESV)

c) He raised Jesus from the dead…

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. — Romans 8v11 (NLT)

1. He teaches me

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.— John 14v26 (ESV)

1. He comforts me

παράκλητος (paraklētos) — aide, summoned to one’s side, comforter, helper

1. He guides me

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth,… — John 16v13 (ESV)

1. He gives me power

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. — Acts 1v8 (ESV)

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. — Acts 10v38 (ESV)
