The ambitious programme to connect Asia with Africa and Europe via Land and Maritime networks along the six corridors with the aim of improving regional integration, increasing trade and stimulating economic growth. The projects under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) are mainly related to Infrastructure development in the transport, energy, mining, IT and Communications sector, but also cover industrial parks, special Economic Zones, tourism and urban development.
