Join me, Nicole Muñoz in my fifth podcast for The Positive I Podcast. This will be Positive I's discussion with Liz Vogel. She is a purpose-driven nonprofit leader and fundraiser with more than 20 years of experience working at the intersection of education and social justice. As the Executive Director of Facing History and Ourselves in Los Angeles, she leads her team as they support and challenge teachers and their students in over 1,500 middle and high schools across Southern CA to stand up to bigotry and hate. Liz graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Women's Studies/History from Pomona College. In college, Liz landed a coveted White House internship, working in First Lady Hillary Clinton’s Office of the Social Secretary. There, she assisted in planning events such as State Dinners, bill signings, private movie screenings and President Bill Clinton’s birthday party. She also served as a volunteer with the San Francisco Court-Appointed Special Advocate program for over a decade, working on behalf of children in foster care. Liz hails from the Jersey Shore but claims fierce allegiance to her California lifestyle.

She is originally from Houston, Texas but now currently resides in Los Angeles, California. Her main goal in all of her endeavors is to inspire youth and young adults to start working on their dream right now, believing it’s never too late or too early. She says that success requires a mindset to start and not stop till you’re finished!

Join me, Nicole Muñoz in my third podcast for The Positive I Podcast. This will be Positive I's discussion with Phredd MatthewsWall, a Senior Associate Program Director for Staff Development at Facing History and Ourselves. In this role, he works to maintain the high level of quality of Facing History’s professional development offerings, especially for events put on in the summer months. Currently based in the Chicago office, Phredd is familiar with many aspects of Facing History, having spent the past 31 years at the organization. He also has a wealth of education-related experience from his time as a classroom teacher, program coordinator, and curriculum and educational consultant. Phredd holds a B.A. in Education and Curriculum Development from Tufts University. Phredd grew up in NYC in the Harlem Community, eventually attending Phillips Academy in Andover MA during his formative H.S. years. He eventually stayed in MA attending Tufts University and teaching in the Cambridge Public Schools before joining Facing History and Ourselves in 1988 where he continues on staff today.
