EP # 122: With this episode, I originally intended to focus on the health and vitality of the craft brewing industry in the Dayton Region and the incredible impact it's had on our community. What I ended up with was one of the most emotionally stirring podcasts I've ever recorded. Dave Jennings, an Air Force brat who now, along with his wife, owns and operates the successful Wandering Griffin Restaurant and Brewery off Colonel Glenn Highway in Beavercreek, Ohio shares a master class in surviving personal tragedy. In a raw interview, Dave talks about how brewing has actually been medicinal and therapeutic in getting him through the loss of his parents and son in a tragic car accident. Just as a singer pays tribute to loved ones in song, Dave has done the same by pouring his emotions of extreme grief into tribute beers to help him remember loved ones while honoring their legacy. EP # 121: In a follow-up interview, Host Dan Edwards returns to Brigid's Path in Kettering,Ohio to speak to founder Jill Kingston about her unique facility, one of only five health care organizations in the country providing specialized care for babies and mothers exposed to Substance Use Disorder Problems. For the past eight years, Brigid's Path has walked along side these struggling moms by providing a full nursing staff with 24/7 care providing therapeutic handling of their babies while going through painful withdrawal and unwavering support through their eventual recovery. Due to funding changes, their future is in question as they have been forced to make heartbreaking cut-backs, turning away desperate moms and their babies. Financial help is needed now to keep this important service that shares grace for the past, support for the present and hope for the future.
