The traditional definition of "work" is harming our society. We have embraced Sad Work as a norm. It has led us to view stress, anxiety, failure, competition and regret as an inevitable part of our work lives. It all began with the belief that work is only here to serve our financial advantage, and that struggle is just part of it. This is unacceptable, because it goes AGAINST OUR NATURE. In this podcast, Vira and Olivier Egli of Why Story, encourage a different approach to work: the creation of human value that leads to Happy Work, Happy Workplaces and Happy People. This approach removes the detrimental obsession we have with transactions, and replaces it with the joy of transforming human beings with human value. Welcome to "Human Value Entrepreneurship." Is capitalism really the problem, or is it how we've been taught to practice it? In this episode, we break down the difference between transactional capitalism (working to take, to own, to amass) and transformational capitalism (working to give, to create real value, to serve). We'll explore the "threshold" concept, the point where your basic needs are met and your work should shift from survival mode into purpose-driven contribution, and why most of us keep pushing that threshold further away out of fear and conditioning. This isn't an anti-money conversation. It's an invitation to ask yourself one honest question: have you already crossed the line into "enough," and are you still working like you haven't? Tune in for a grounded, no-BS look at redefining what work is for.

What if everything you've been taught about value is wrong?
For most of my career, I measured the worth of my work in revenue, returns, and results. Until I realized that even when the numbers checked out — something was still missing.
After 12 years of studying human work and what makes it truly meaningful, I arrived at a simple but radical conclusion: real value was never about money. It was always about peace.
The people who create lasting, genuinely valuable work aren't the ones chasing market trends or solving problems they found in a boardroom. They're the ones who looked inward — at their deepest gifts and their deepest needs — and had the courage to bring both into the world at once.
In this episode, I want to challenge the way you think about value entirely. Because for too long, we've outsourced that answer to marketplaces, industries, and financial returns — when the truth is, everything you need to understand about the value you're here to create has been inside you all along.
This one is for anyone who has built something that looks successful on paper but still feels like something is missing. And for anyone still searching for what they're truly here to give.

Bad days don't mean something is wrong with you. They mean you're human.
In this listener Q&A episode, Vira brings Olivier a question we've all lived through "how do you handle the days when you want to give up, question everything, and wonder why you even started?"
Olivier's answer might surprise you. Instead of offering a productivity hack or a motivational pep talk, he invites us to stop calling them bad days altogether.
Drawing on the rhythms of nature — seasons, night and day, light and dark — he makes the case that our darker, slower days aren't obstacles to good work. They're actually where creativity is born, where the real questions surface, and where we quietly gather everything we need for the brighter days ahead.
A short but deeply grounding episode for anyone who has ever felt guilty for not being "on" and needed a reminder that rest, doubt, and stillness are not the enemy of meaningful work. They are part of it.
"It's not a bad day. It's a dark day. And darkness has always been where the best things grow."

In this episode of Do Happy Work, I sit down with Viri Ponce — Latina financial advisor, mother, and passionate advocate for helping Latinas build financial independence beyond the limits of culture and traditional expectations.
Viri's story begins with a simple but telling childhood goal: earning enough money to buy herself a Game Boy — without asking her parents for a single penny. What started as a curious love of numbers and problem-solving grew into something much deeper, rooted in the realities of immigrant working families and the financial insecurity she witnessed firsthand growing up.
Today, she channels those early lessons into a mission — helping other Latinas create security, confidence, and freedom entirely on their own terms.
Together, we explore childhood dreams, the power of lived experience, and what it truly means to turn what comes naturally to you into work that is meaningful, personal, and genuinely valuable to others.

Are you finding your place in a world of AI or finding a place for AI in a world of humans? That one question changes everything.
In this episode of the Do Happy Work Podcast, Olivier challenges the fear-driven mindset pulling professionals toward two dangerous extremes: blind adoption or total rejection of AI. Neither leads to meaningful work.
The real threat isn't artificial intelligence it's what happens when we start outsourcing our humanity to it. When we optimize ourselves out of our own work. When we become the extension of AI, instead of the other way around.
Olivier makes the case that the most valuable businesses of the future won't be the most automated, they'll be the most humanely relevant. Built on consciousness, intuition, lived experience, and the courage to know yourself deeply enough to let that be the foundation of everything you create.
If you're a leader, entrepreneur, or creative navigating the AI era, this episode is your grounding reminder: your humanity is not an obstacle. It's your greatest asset.

In this episode, Olivier breaks down one of the most misunderstood dynamics in modern work: the difference between true creativity and productivity dressed up to look like it. If your work has started to feel empty, forced, or directionless, this episode explains the reason why.

What does a mortgage loan officer have to do with happy work? Everything, when the person doing it is a born educator and provider who refused to let her work stay surface-level.
In this episode, Olivier sits down with Verenice León Hurtado, a mortgage professional who stopped chasing numbers and started chasing meaning, and discovered that the two aren't mutually exclusive. They're just in the wrong order for most people.
Verenice's story is one many of us will recognize: you take a job, you chase the next goal, you hit the metrics. And then one day, the fuel runs out. What she did next is what makes her a perfect example of what happy work actually looks like in practice.

Why does it feel wrong to get paid for the work that feels most like you?
This episode explores the hidden imposter syndrome behind happy work, and why charging well for the work you do isn’t selfish, but essential.
When your work is real, payment isn’t a bonus. It’s what allows it to continue.
If your work is an expression of who you are, getting paid for it is what keeps it alive.

When a listener gets laid off from a job they thought they loved, it raises a deeper question: was it ever truly happy work to begin with? Olivier unpacks the critical difference between happiness and joy — why one is a baseline you own and the other is a reaction to things outside of you. If losing a job leaves you lost and questioning everything, that's a sign your happiness was outsourced. Real happy work can't be taken from you — it lives in you, not in the title or the paycheck. A powerful conversation about ownership, self-responsibility, and what it truly means to bring yourself into your work.

Many business owners are asking: “How can AI help me stand out?”In this episode, we challenge the premise. AI is a powerful tool—but tools alone never create differentiation. True distinction comes from clarity about who you are, what you stand for, and the unique angle only you can bring. Once that inner direction is clear, technology becomes an amplifier. Without it, even the best tools only produce average outcomes.
What You’ll Learn
Key Insight
Tools can enhance your path—but they cannot define it.
First, know yourself. Then use technology to express that truth at scale.
Reflection Question
Are you using AI to discover your unique voice—or to avoid finding it?
Takeaway
AI doesn’t make you stand out. It makes what is already unique about you more visible, powerful, and scalable.

This is my final contribution of 2025, an offering on purpose, and an invitation to pause before the new year begins.
Rather than entering another year searching for purpose or hoping it shows up, this episode invites you to start the year already grounded in it.
You’ll learn:
• Why searching for purpose can actually disconnect you from it
• How modern culture distorts our understanding of purpose
• The real origin and meaning of the word “purpose”
• Why purpose is less about seeking and more about sharing
• How generosity becomes the engine of meaning and fulfillment
• What this shift changes in how we think about work, success, and impact
Purpose isn’t something to chase. It’s already with us, if we let it. And when we do, happy work is closer than we think.

"...Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”

It's terrifying to leave the comfort and safety of a BORING job that pays us for our MISERY, isn't it?
Are you in debt? Debt doesn't just happen in monetary situations. Your relationships can be in severe debt too: toxic marriages, toxic partnerships, toxic environments- these can really take a toll on your happiness budget.
Have you done a Happiness Inventory lately? Do the resources you have in your life EXPAND your happiness or hinder it?

We've talked to so many business owners this month that repeatedly say that they have lazy employees, that there is a lack of motivation in their teams, that people only go to work for the paycheck... Listen to find out why that's happening...
In this episode, we discuss how mental wealth sets you free to create financial wealth. Take inventory of your mental boardroom. Who is at the head of it?
We tend to focus on the physical muscles, and sometimes, the mental muscle. What about the rest of our muscles?
If you listened to last week's episode, this is an extension of that. In today's episode, Olivier dives a little deeper into instinct, intelligence, intuition and our work.
A quick thought on the three things that dictate our life and how, together, they can bring us tremendous expansion.
What would your life be like if you were really fearless? What if nothing held you back? Who would you be? How would you be? What would you be doing?
Human Value Entrepreneurship is a weekly podcast where we ask the difficult but necessary questions that get us on the path towards creating work that leaves us feeling happy, fulfilled and successful.
Focus on human potential, not market potential and you'll see just how much bigger your client base will be.
The sooner we STOP being productive and START being creative, the sooner we get to delivering real value.
Are you an intrapreneur? An intrapreneur is a person with an entrepreneurial spirit that works for a company whose values are aligned with theirs. You don't have to be a business owner to do happy, fulfilling work.
This is the question of all questions. If you don't know who you are, you surrender yourself to outside influences. Ask yourself the difficult but beautiful question: Who am I really?

The idea that you have to find balance between your work life and your personal life is a fallacy. You are ONE person with ONE life. It's no wonder so many people are exhausted trying to balance work and personal life. It's not possible.
We had the privilege of chatting with Weexpo - Founder Christina Brophy and VP Leen Alramlawi.
Christina has brought together thousand of women to find community, support groups and professional help and freedom. Her career began in 2018 with her first women's conference in Ventura, CA and she's been going strong ever since.
Leen is dedicated to ensuring that women impacted by adversity become empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community.
Both women also run the organization: RAD International where they do advocacy work to break the stigma around menstruation and distribute hygiene items to women in countries where it is hard to access.

Too many business owners think that Marketing and Advertising is the answer to all their struggles. So they hire "marketing professionals" and spend several thousands to create logos, websites, social media campaigns and so on. The problem with that is that most marketing professionals don't care about what your business stands for. They also want to make as much money as possible, so they will tell you what THEY think YOUR business is about, and YOU will let them.
It will cost you a lot of money and very likely do NOTHING to bring any real value to your business or your clients...

If you want to be a value-creating machine, then be like Nature...it is the most successful entrepreneur out there.
We have been graced with the ability to be like a "human tree” in a “human forest,” free in our movements and thinking, and flexible in our actions with all the benefits of imagination and creativity. We are incredible value creation machines that need to wake up to the call of our own nature, and start nurturing ourselves. The work that comes from this awareness is what we call “Happy Work” because it directly builds on the very meaning of life itself.

Time is a stressor for many people. We're either running late; we're impatiently waiting on something or someone; we say things like "By X age I have to achieve Y." We give a sense of urgency to everything. Why?
