FROM THE ARCHIVES

Sending Peace Your Way,

Here are thirty things that I have learned (sometimes the hard way) in my thirty years of life. From practical daily tips to make your life more purposeful, to bigger lessons linked to emotional and psychological healing. Life can be a chaotic and unpredictable mess - but it can also bring moments of pure happiness.

The happiness doesn't last... nor does sadness. Everything is limited and finite. Impermanence and death, grief, closure - all concepts that have led me to a more conscious mind.

Not all the time of course! There are many days where I find myself aimless or feeling unaccomplished but I know WHY this happens. Hit the play button to find out more!

Happy listening and don't forget to share it with someone special if you benefited from one or two lessons.

This Xed Talks episode is with Sabah Tiba - a woman who has undergone more than 140 surgical procedures. A single mum to three beautiful children with a unique sense of humour and calm demeanor, Sabah was a pleasure to speak with.

She walks us through how it all began suddenly with a stroke at the young age of thirteen and where she is now. This is the concluding episode for Ramadan. I pray that your last ten days are filled with blessings and Allah swt accepts all of our acts of worship.

Female fitness has a special place in my heart. It took me out of a dark place in my life and helped me reconnect with myself post-babies. Today, we hear Hajer's story and gain inspiration from all her achievements.

Experiencing grief led her to gain a substantial amount of weight and eventually - when she was ready - she lost the weight and gained confidence and whole lotta muscle.

Hope this podcast finds you well and inspires you to try something new!

Zarina is a model and currently studying to become a teacher (and an unbelievable artist!). We spend a little time together to discuss all the things that affected the way we saw ourselves growing up and the insecurities we still carry with us today.

It's a fruitful and sometimes confronting conversation. Zarina surprised me with the amount of subtle (or not so subtle) racism she has faced from an extremely young age.

Eddie the eagle (from the recommended movie based on a true story) has a very unique set of values that he does not compromise on.

Muslim women wear the hijab and adopt it into their identity but that doesn't mean it's not something we struggle with. Listen to this podcast if you'd like to hear how Muslim women truly feel about the hijab and how they deal with all the (unrealistic) societal expectations that come with it.

Zulfiye has a compassionate approach to the subject and has had an impact on me personally. Her attention to the topic of authenticity and her friendly nature make her extremely easy to talk to.

Authenticity is just so inspiring.

My good friend Saadet joins me in this crucial episode as we revisit her experience with interracial marriage.

Coming from a traditional Turkish household, Saadet struggled with approaching her father about her interest in marriage to her now-husband who comes from a Somali background.

We go from there to the struggles that came after approaching her father and the lack of support and direction the young couple received from a leader in the community.

This is a conversation we all need to have because our generation can make the process a lot easier on the next. Remember us in our conversations.
