Sally's Famous Potato Salad
- 10 Russet potatoes
- 1 small yellow onion diced
- 3 stocks of celery, chopped
- 3-5 hard boiled eggs. Sliced
- Miracle whip to taste. (Some people don’t like it and we realize that, but it has to be Miracle Whip or it’s not Sally’s Potato Salad)
- Squirt of yellow mustard (long Squirt)
- Mix it all up, try not to mash the potatoes.
- Sprinkle top with a bit of salt, pepper and paprika.

The pandemic can no longer be used as an excuse for bad service. Staffing challenges are a reality in this new world, I get it, but you cannot make excuses for an underwhelming experience at your spa or business any longer. You must learn to adapt, automate services, stagger in a way that works for making money and providing the very best service your clients expect and deserve. Let me give you an examples of an excuses I have heard recently and an on how you can kick those excuses to the curb!
The phone rings and rings to only go to voicemail. The voicemail says, due to covid it may take longer to answer your call. WHAT?! We live in a world with super intelligence. Did you know there are softwares out there that will pick up on the ringing phone and automatically text the person calling to start a conversation and lead them all the way to booking their services without you ever talking to them? I can hear you now saying "but I want to make the personal connection with my clients". I know, I get it. But if it is going to voicemail you risk loosing the client all together and no personal connection at all. Using an AI based approach you can retain more customers, exceed their expectations and once the appointment is booked have a personal text sent to the client thanking them for booking and telling them how much you are looking forward to their visit with a personal signature. The reality is nearly 85% of people are looking and booking travel experiences using a mobile device. This gives you a huge opportunity!

Betty Loiacono began her career in the hospitality industry in 1978 as an assistant hotel manager at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Reno, Nev., which was then the largest hotel/casino in the world. She worked in training and development and as guest relations supervisor at Radio City Music Hall in New York and as director of VIP services at the 1982 World’s Fair in Knoxville, Tenn. After three years at Shearson Lehman Brothers/American Express in New York, she re-entered the hospitality industry in 1987 as hotel assistant manager at the Trump’s Castle Hotel & Casino, where she says she learned “grace under fire” by working under the direction of Mrs. Ivana Trump. In 1989 she became Resident Manager / Director of Operations for The Spa at Norwich Inn and eventually segued into the role of Spa Director. Betty was selected to move from the Norwich property to coordinate the re-branding of the Foxwood’s Casino spa as The Norwich Spa at Foxwoods. In August of 2008 she transitioned to the pre-eminent Four Diamond Saybrook Point Inn Spa & Marina in Old Saybrook, CT, where she is The SANNO Spa Director. Betty organized a New England Roundtable of the International Spa Association and served on ISPA’s Marketing Committee. She is a member of the Professional Advisory Committee of the Cortiva Institute formerly known as The Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy. She is a current member of the Board of Directors of SPA HIVE.

Jennifer Boisclair is a management extraordinaire. Having 10 years experience in salons and spas in the Boston and Connecticut regions, Jennifer is a seasoned manager capable of handling any and all complications. Her executive prowess is demonstrated in her ability to consistently budget effectively, oversee operations and exercise intuition to handle team and client alike.
