Hello community, @stevenson7 here, and I will be sharing with you guys the recording of the last Hive Book club Voice Chat. This is in a bid to encourage you to join in on the fun.

Last Saturday, 12th of March 2021 we had our seventeenth voice chat.

The topic was

Topic: If you could write a chapter of the ending of a book you like , how would it be?

@machiata popped in with this lovely topic. To be honest I expected that this was a perfect topic to get everyone talking, although we weren't very much, it get people talking alright, xd.

  • I feel like every book I have read was perfect. I might not have been satisfied if something was changed, but in the book The Secret Sister by Elizabeth Lowell. The author could have done a whole lot better with the love story at the ending.

We didn't have a lot of particpants but;

  • @notacinephile made a good argument of comparing movie adpatations of books and the book itself.

@khaleesi mentioned the intresting Five Feat apart by Mikki Daughtry, Rachael Lippincott, and Tobias Iaconis. A great movie/book.

@nonsowrites also popped in, albeit late.

We deviated from our topic at some point, as the conversation got even more intresting. It was a lovely chat. We didn't have a great number this time, hopefully we would get better turnouts in our next sessions.

Please do drop any topic you would like us to discuss for the next meeting or any feedback at all down, below in the comments.

Hello community, @stevenson7 here again sharing the rcorded video of our last book voice chat on discord.

Last Saturday, 5th of March 2022 we had our sixteeth official book voice chat and it was another hit.

The topic was

Topic: have you read an (auto)biography? If yes, would you recommend. If no, which do you want to read?

This topic was one that seemed controversial. A lot of the folks on didn't see any point to reading a biography or why someone would write one. The conversation took off.

  • Even still, I talked about my favourite and only biography I have read, "Martin Luther King" by Us Embassy.

It turns out like me, the few lot of us haven't read an autobiography or autobiography but a couple of books were mentioned still.

  • @notacinephile mentioned Conquest of the Useless b Werner Herzog. A film maker.
  • @kemmyb couldn't join voice but she did share Princess Diana of Wales by Andrew Morton titled: Diana, Her True Story.
  • @osarueseosato made a good point of learning from peoples experience in thier biography or autobiography to better himself.

The conversation was very educating and fun. We had a small number but that didn't interupt anything. We hope to recovene again this saturday.

Please do drop any topic you would like us to discuss for the next meeting or any feedback at all down, below in the comments.

Hello community, @stevenson7 here, and I will be sharing the recording of the last Hive Book club Voice Chat. Of course, this is in a bid to encourage you to join in on the fun.

Last Saturday, 26th of February 2022 we had our fifteenth official book voice chat. Wow, we have come a long way. We would hit a landmark twenty soon.

The topic was

Topic: Let's talk about literary devices in books.

A topic suggested in our previous session. It sure was a broad topic but we found a way to streamline the answers into the literary devices we enjoy in books.

  • As it's customary I started; I talked about my fascination of the simple use of animorphism to send a deep and profound. Also the witty and intelligent use of Humor and symbolism.

A lot of literary devices were talked about.

  • @osarueseosato took us back memory lane with his love for an authors diction. Of course Shakespeare automaticall comes to mind. He also made mention of his love for the use of allegory.
  • @wolfofnostreet and @young-boss-karin seem to have the love of Imagery in literature in common. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was the author we looked at.
  • @khaleesii went with the classic use of Irony by authors. Everybody loves a twist. lol.

Looking at how much time spent, you'd be surprised that only just six of us talked for so long. Its what happens when people talk about what they love and have fun. We do hope the numbers grow. Do share this video if you can, and also invite folks who'd like to join. Also today, for the first time we tried the discord stage. It was brillaint, thanks to @macchiata. The whole session was very lively and organized. Looking forward to the next one.

Hello community, @stevenson7 here, and as always I will be sharing with you guys the recording of the last Hive Book club Voice Chat on Discord. This is in a bid to encourage you to join in on the fun (if you haven't already).

Last Saturday, 19th of February 2022 we had our thirteenth official book voice chat and it was a blast.

The topic was

Topic: What character in a book you think was severely wronged by the author?

This is the type of topic that would almost always spring up a conversation due to varied opinions and that was exactly what it did.

  • Asits customary, I answered first. It was difficult thibnking of a character that an author wronged but I ecventually settled for Gary Boone in the book, Dogs don't tell Jokes by Louis Sachar. I felt the author was contradicting with his personality.

As fun as the topic was, an intellectual debate erupted up (PS. that is exactly what the voice chat is about).

  • @screamingsteve brought athe perspective that a character is never really wronged in the generic sense. He goes on to say it was the authors work, hence is story and decision to warp any character to the autors suiting.
  • @drceeyou and @young-boss-karin also got deep into the conversation, both sides completely right in thier opinion. The latter deliberating on the book, The handmanids tale by Margarett Atwood. A worthy read.
  • @rexsanguis ventured into the beatiful work of Chinua Achebe Things fall apart. Particularly the character Okonkwo.
  • @osarueseosato had problems with internet but managed to share the work of Chinua Achebe again, A man of the People, particularly focusing on the character Odili.

Even though she was unavailable, @khaleesii picked the lovely topic that got the conversation flying. We had a good laugh too. It was a great session alround.

Please do drop any topic you would like us to discuss for the next meeting or any feedback at all down, below in the comments.

Hello community, @stevenson7 here, in this post I will be sharing the recording of our previous HIVE Bookclub Voice Chat.

Last Saturday, 12th of February 2021 we had our thirteenth official book voice chat and it was one of the best.

The topic was:

Topic: Which scene from a book that you read, has stuck with you the most?

The book I am currently reading prompted me to choosing this topic.

  • As it is customary, I went first. After reading half of Man's Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl the scenes seemed to be stuck to my head. Albeit I have only just read it, but the vividly description and the gruesome and inhumane treatment of people in the concentration camps really struck me.

  • @khaleesii talked about the book The fault in our stars by John Greene. Everybody seemed to have something to say about the book, especially its movie adaptation.

  • @osarueseosato talked about part of the scene in the book King Solomon's Mines by H. Rider Haggard.
  • @khoola had an iffy network but he shared Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown.
  • @wolfofnostreet couldn't speak on voice but she listened all through the session and used the text-chat.

This is arguably one of the most enjoyable sessions we've had. We went from talking about books, to disection deep philosophical life questions. Its what a good book does, and its exactly what the voice chat is all about. We could have talked for hours but we had to end the session. I gurantee you would enjoy listening to it.

Hello community, @stevenson7 here, and I will be sharing with you guys the recording of the last Hive Book club Voice Chat. This is in a bid to encourage you to join in on the fun.

Last Saturday, 5th of February 2021 we had our twelfth official book voice chat and it was splendid.

The topic was

Topic: What do you think makes a good book in different genres

I didn't put too much thought into the question, leaving us with a broad scope. Everyone did try to summarize thier answers anyways.

  • I kicked off the chat with my asnwers first. It turned out that I gave almost the all the possible qualities of a good book; From a good title to a strong opening, then a nice set of characters for fiction and a great plot, etc.

Even with me saying almost everything, everyone still had one thing that made a good book for them, personally speaking.

  • @Iska mentioned that she liked when a book is very descriptive
  • @wolfofnostreet (who joined us for the first time) also talked about the importance of a good plot and characters in a good book
  • @rexsanguis shared how vital suspense is in a book, and a good plottwist
  • @osarueseosato, @khoola and @notacinephile also voiced out what makes a book good for them and it was pretty intresting.

There was a raffle of $10 hive sponsored by @rubido, won by notacinphile, (among other freebies). It was a fun chat. Everyone shared thier opinion. At some point we went off-topic and started talking about self-help books and how repetitive they are. Sheesh, I don't think any author of the self-help genre would make a dime from them, haha.

Please do drop any topic you would like us to discuss for the next meeting or any feedback at all down, below in the comments.

Hello community, @stevenson7 here, today I will be sharing with you all the recorded version of our last hive book voice chat which was held yesterday on discord.

Last Saturday, 29th of January 2021 we had our tenth official book voice chat. It was the second bookchat for the year. Looks like we are on a roll this year.

Yesterday's topic was What book are you starting the year with? Why did you choose it?

@qwerrie was buzzing after hearing the topic. Turns out everyone is yet to get up to thier previous reading speed with the new year, so the topics have being a bit similar. Hovering about what book to read, how the previous year was, etc. Next book chat, we would get into books proper. I think.

  • I plan on starting the year with Victor Frankl's Man Search For Meaning. It is a book that has being on my list for quite a while now and it seems perfect to start the year with.
  • @allani545 planned on reading The Shadow over Innsmouth by H.P. Lovecraft. An Exciting horror novella.
  • @osarueseosato picked a rather peculiar one to start the year. Why Men Want Sex and Women Need Love: Solving the Mystery of Attraction by Allan Pease, Barbara Pease

-@qwerrie shared a very intresting story of the book he started the year with, Glory Road by Robert A. Heinlein. JHe has a pretty cool tradition too.

  • @notacinephile and @galistea shared Chaos: Making a New Science by James Gleick and Les Misérables by Victor Hugo respectively.

Thank you to everyone that Joined. Much appreciated. Thank you @iskafan albeit she was very late. Thank you @rubido

The chat started with just three of us, but as time went by, a couple of folks popped in and we had a good number. Most of us haven't started reading for the year yet, but the year looks promoising.

Please do drop any topic you would like us to discuss for the next meeting or any feedback at all down, below in the comments.

Hello community, @stevenson7 here, today I will be sharing with you all the recorded version of our last hive book voice chat which was held last Saturday on discord.

Last Saturday, 22nd of January 2021 we had our tenth official book voice chat. It is the first bookchat of the year after a lot of procastination, for good reasons. xd

Yesterday's topic was it's a new year, how many books did you read last year and what are your book resolutions for this year??

It seemed like a perfect topic to start off the year. I have always believed I can read as much as 50 books a year, even though I haven't met that target before but its totally attainnable. Like most of us, I didn't have a great last year but I plan on picking up this year. I intend on reading at least two books a month, same as @allani545 the Aussie, lol. It was his first session and it was beautiful

@nonsowrites didn't have a great last year in terms of books like most of us, but he plans on reading five books this year. Like he said, "its all about quality not quantity".

@young-boss-karin also was around. She plans on reading ten books this year, to better the previous one.

Thank you to everyone that Joined. Much appreciated. Thank you @khoola, even though you popped in late.

It was a fun chat. A chill and comfortable atmosphere it was. Everyone surely has big plans for thier book life for the year ahead and I can only wish you guys goodluck. May the god of books help us attain our target and more. Also if you'd prefer not to be tagged, do let me know please.

Please do drop any topic you would like us to talk about or any feedback at all down below in the comments.

Hello community, @stevenson7 here, today I will be sharing with you all the recorded version of our last hive book voice chat which was held last Saturday on discord.

Last Saturday, 18th of December 2021 we had our Ninth official book voice chat. It was lovely, albeit, we did not have as much turn out as we did the last time before the day before yesterday but it wasn't anyless. engaging.

Yesterday's topic was If you are/were an author what genre would you write on and why?

I I'd love to write on the self-help genre because I feel there is a lot of trite snd cliche books out there with a lot of repetition and all. I would love to set that straight.

Well, his username says he is not a cinephile but @notacinephile talked about how he would love to write about fiction works about Cinemas. He also made a very important point, that to write about a genre one should be an expert in it.

@Khaleesii graced the chat with her presence for the first time. She said she would love to delve into the dating genre. She feels the book of old are exactly that, old and we need new and updated materials.

@chinyerevivian would like to write literary fiction. A great choice.

@esther-emmanuel gave us something interesting. Historical Fiction. That surely would be nice.

@iskafan and @osarueseosato mentioned the genres the'd love to write about.

Thank you to everyone that Joined. Much appreciated. Thank you @khoola

What a session it was. There was this chill and relaxing atmosphere to everything. Lovely stuff. Also if you'd prefer not to be tagged, do let me know please.

Please do drop any topic you would like us to talk about or any feedback at all down below in the comments.
