If someone asked you to define God in one word, what word would you use? The scripture uses the word love to help us understand God's nature. But we should not think we can also reverse the statement to say "love is god," because that would be inaccurate.

Easter Sunday - April 9, 2023

John 20:11-23

The death of Jesus brought great doubt, fear and uncertainty for his disciples who witnessed his arrest and most fled at his crucifixion.

On Saturday, his body lie dead in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea, and the hope of many seemed to come to an end.

But on that Sunday morning when Mary Magdalene went to anoint his body with spices and aloe, she found an empty tomb.

In today's message, Pastor Dave Flannery reveals the exciting truth for all who believe.

As you listen, consider this question; who are you looking for?

How would you answer the question, "who is Jesus?"

You might come up with any one of the following answers;

  • He is a made-up christian god
  • He is a prophet
  • He is a priest
  • He is a man who lived many years ago
  • He is a figment of imagination

Some of you might respond with a different answer, like son of God, or son of man. Whatever your answer may be, the scriptures tell us that he was not only a king who came to serve his people, but he was God.

In today's message, Pastor Dave Flannery will help us to understand this often misunderstood, historical person.

Where is the first place you turn for help when you are sick or hurting?

Is it the medicine cabinet? Maybe a pain killer? Or is it alcohol or drugs? Maybe your natural first option is to call a doctor or a friend.
Jesus offers himself to us in our trials and sickness. He is willing to come near to us no matter how bad our situation may be.

In Matthew 8:1-3, Jesus is approached by a leper who asks for healing. Leper's were considered unapproachable because of the skin disease they bore, but Jesus does not let that bother him.

"When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed Him. Suddenly a leper came and knelt before Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” He said. “Be clean!” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Jesus was always willing to heal as we see in today's passage from Pastor Dave Flannery. As believers, we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus. If you are in need of prayer please let us know. We would be happy to pray with you.
