In 1884, 4 men set sail on an English yacht named The Mignonette; they planned to travel for 120 days before reaching the coast of Australia, but the men never made it to their destination. Sharks, turnips, sea turtle blood, improvised sails, and cannibalism abound in this case that left its mark on the legal interpretation of maritime tragedies.

Again, we apologize for the delay in updating and posting - we are still playing catchup from a string of technical difficulties which resulted in us having to scrap an episode.
This week, Sam is taking us off our regular path and into the deep sea. On June 18, 2023, 5 men went 12,500 feet below the ocean surface to visit the Titanic wreckage. One hour and 45 minutes into their descent, the submersible lost contact with the research ship waiting above. After four days of searching, parts of the carbon-fiber submersible were discovered near the Titanic wreckage, indicating a catastrophic implosion had occurred.

Welcome back, again, friends. We are terribly sorry for going off air again - we have been dealing with some on and off technical issues (in part due to the Canada fires). We are also sorry for the quality of our audio for the time being, we are working on getting it fixed, but did not want to keep anyone waiting any longer. On April 1, 1990, Arizona state trooper Mike Miller came across a semitruck stopped on the side of the highway with its hazard lights on. Miller stopped to offer assistance, only to make a horrifying discovery locked in the cab of the truck.
Today, we know the driver of this truck to be Robert Ben Rhoades, also known as the Truck Stop Killer, and he has since been convicted of four murders... but to this day, we still don't know the full extent of his 15-year-long murder spree.

This week on the show, Kyle takes a deep dive into Texas's oldest unsolved mass killing: The Arellano Family Murders. On April 16, 1968, 29-year-old Juan, 24-year-old Monica, 21-year-old Rosa, 2-year-old Leticia, and 1-year-old Eduardo were viciously murdered in Edwards County, leaving only one surviving member: 5-year-old Manuel Jr.
54 years later, Texas Rangers are still searching for leads and seeking the public's help Texas Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $3,000 to any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of the person/persons responsible for this crime. To be eligible for the cash reward, tipsters must call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).

Around 9:30 in the morning on November 1, 1980, a truck driver called 911 to report finding the body of a young girl on the side of I-45 passing through Sam Houston National Forest. For 41 years, she was known only as the Walker County Jane Doe, until finally being identified as 14-year-old Sherri Ann Jarvis in 2021. To this day, though, her murder remains unsolved.
Instead of highlighting a specific case this week, Sarah and Kyle sit down and talk
about domestic violence. Sarah, a survivor of teen dating violence, talks about the
survivor's side of DV - why we don't leave, signs to look out for, and the cycle of
abuse; while Kyle, a police officer, discusses safe ways of reporting DV and what
comes after.
On August 1st 1966, Charles Whitman, a former Marine sharpshooter and University of Texas student positioned himself on the observation deck of the UT Tower and opened fire on the unsuspecting people below. This week, Kyle tells the story of his slow descent leading up to this tragedy, including Whitman's pleas for physical and psychological help.
This week, we're traveling back to 1946 as Sam dives into the unsolved case of the Phantom Killer from Texarkana. Join us as we piece together a haunting story involving car thieves, traveling saxophone players and a police force stretched to its limit as a town descends into panic.
