I want to share from my experience the potential downsides of the healthifying food culture. Find out why this practice might not be as beneficial as you think and learn a better approach to healthy eating.

In this episode of The Health After 30, I'm chatting with Tatjana Lucia as she shares how hypnotherapy can help in erasing body shaming comments.

Tatjana explains that hypnotherapy works by addressing the root cause of negative beliefs and rewiring them into more positive ones. The process involves understanding the life events that created the negative beliefs, releasing emotions stored in the body, and cultivating forgiveness.

Tatjana emphasizes the importance of self-love and authenticity in overcoming body shaming. She also acknowledges the struggles that one may face for the complete eradication of self-limiting comments. The key is to develop self-awareness and choose self-love every day.

In this episode on the Health After 30 Podcast, I share the concept of feel-good weight and how it differs from traditional weight loss.

I want to encourage women, just like you to ask yourself:

  • Why do you really want to lose weight?
  • How do you currently feel about yourself?

I want to challenge you to think about whether losing weight will make you happy, or is it more important to be content and enjoy where you are before taking action?

I will also explore the physical and metaphysical aspects of feeling good, including hormones, nutrition, beliefs, and self-perception.

Ultimately my goal is to help women feel confident and good in their bodies by making small shifts in their daily lives.

Today I welcome Dr. Anthea Todd onto the Health After 30 Podcast. Also known as the doctor that gives female health advice from a skateboard, Anthea discusses the importance of listening to our bodies and understanding the messages they are sending us.

She emphasizes that your body (or your symptoms) are not the problem, but rather a way for your body to communicate with you.

Anthea encourages women to:

  • Trust their intuition
  • Connect with their bodies to determine what type of care they need
  • Take a holistic approach to health and address your underlying patterns and beliefs.

Anthea discusses the importance of understanding and balancing what she calls the four female fundamentals: The nervous system, metabolism, nutrients, and blood sugars.

She explains that when these fundamentals are in balance, negative symptoms fall away and positive ones emerge.

The biggest take home message is the need to listen to and trust your body, as it provides valuable information about your health.

Overall, her goal is to empower women to take control of their health and understand that their bodies are on their side.

In this episode on the Health After 30 Podcast, I met up with Norwegian doctor Torkil Færø, author of The Pulse Cure to talk about Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and its importance in combating stress.

While we know stress is the main driver for so many diseases, Dr. Færø shares by tracking your HRV you can pinpoint valuable insights into our body's response to stress, allowing us to identify and address hidden stressors. By doing this, we can have a deeper understanding of bodies and optimising overall health.

One massive takeaway for me was when he mentioned that for most women who track their HRV, they feel like they have permission to rest, when they normally wouldn’t. And that’s the type of technology I can stand by.

Tune in for a charming conversation that will give you some tools to create a calmer and stress-free life.

In this episode, I want to bring in the concept of your life force, known as prana in Ayurveda and chi in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and its crucial role in maintaining vibrant health.

While we often focus on treating symptoms, the true key to well-being may lie in understanding and nurturing this underlying force that drives all aspects of our being. While healthy habits like proper nutrition and exercise are important, they are ultimately fueled by this life energy. Neglecting essential practices such as mindful eating, deep breathing, and adequate sleep can deplete our life energy, hindering our ability to thrive.

Tune in as we explore the two fundamental ingredients necessary for cultivating vibrant health.

In today’s episode I have a conversation with Cate Zoltan, CEO of the Undo app, to discuss “natural meditation” and its benefits. Natural meditation is a body-based meditation that aims to reconnect the body and mind.

Unlike other meditation techniques, it focuses on feeling and releasing tensions in the body rather than controlling thoughts. By practicing natural meditation, individuals can tap into their body's natural healing process and develop a deeper understanding of themselves. This practice can also help achieve feel-good weight and body by addressing the underlying emotions associated with protection and self-image.

Ready to explore natural meditation? Here are the takeaways:

  • Focus on feeling: Ground yourself in your body and notice the sensations without judgment.
  • Embrace the discomfort: Feeling can be challenging, but it's the key to releasing what no longer serves you.
  • Make it a lifestyle: Integrate mindful awareness into your daily life for lasting transformation.

In this deeply personal podcast episode, I share a significant shift in my approach to health stemming from my experience with the COVID-19 vaccine.

I open up about a lasting side effect – the numbness in my left hand – and the emotional challenges I've faced since getting vaccinated.

Rather than deep diving into the vaccine debate, I focus on post-vaccine health and open the conversation of what other people who are affected can do to actively support their well-being after potential vaccine-related reactions.

I share my journey of grappling with regret but ultimately I'm urging you to prioritize your health. I seek to connect with others who may have similar concerns, inviting audience input and reflections to foster community dialogue about reclaiming and sustaining health post-vaccination.

I believe that most of us have a default mindset about how we ought to achieve our optimum health. Whether it’s how we have been raised or because the kind of culture around us has shaped our view of health, we cannot deny that our perspective on health determines our approach towards it.

As I reflect on my health journey, I’ve discovered a few things that hindered me from fully experiencing and enjoying a healthy lifestyle— eventually leading me to several mistakes in dealing with my health.

When I thought dealing with what’s around me would solve my desire to be in great health, I realized that there’s so much more on the inside that needs to be properly aligned.

So join me on this episode as I look back on these and talk about what are some of the ways that I’ve learned to navigate through them.

These are a few words that resonate deeply in my conversation with Dr. Oscar Serrallach, the author of the book “The Post-Natal Depletion Cure ''. Oscar is fully committed in reawakening how we see the health and vitality of women as the enter the postpartum period.

In this episode, I had the privilege of hearing the heart and the story behind Dr. Oscar’s desire to help mothers thrive postpartum and enjoy motherhood. We went from talking about basic nutrition, all the way to social support systems around mothers who desire to regain back their confidence and sense of value in their postpartum journey.

Join me in this wonderful conversation that is full of wisdom, realizations, and practical applications that can help you thrive holistically .

Most of what we think when we talk about eating healthy is that it’s going to be hard or difficult to keep it up. It’s that feeling that we have to do it, rather than something that’s natural for us. Yet, when we really put ourselves into how our body works, eating healthy is actually easier than you think!

It’s amazing to see how we can experience a healthier lifestyle by simply leaning towards what nutrients our body really needs. Instead of guessing our way through it, identifying what we really need brings simplicity and clarity to the reason why we choose to eat healthy instead of not.

Join me on this episode and together, let’s discover how you can make eating healthy easier than ever. It’s time to regain your motivation to eat healthy by not forcing it, but rather enjoying it instead. Tune in and find out how!

In this episode, I want to bring to light the common misconception that willpower alone is enough to achieve our health goals.

I'll go over the challenges many women face when relying solely on willpower, discuss the reasons behind them (using the example of cravings), and offer insights into how to overcome them by addressing their root causes.

I fully understand that willpower is important, and when it comes to success in health, it should be complemented by a deeper understanding of our behaviors and triggers, ultimately leading to the sustainable changes you need.

In this episode I wanted to challenge the notion of labeling food as either "good" or "bad", because it’s important to listen to our bodies' unique needs. But by fixating on rigid definitions of "healthy" is and should look like, we often overlook our own internal cues and convince ourselves that we are making the right choices for our bodies, even when it may not align with how we truly feel.

The episode sheds light on the detrimental effects of categorizing foods as good or bad, highlighting how this mindset can lead to disordered eating patterns and a disconnection from our body's innate wisdom.

I think it’s time to shift our focus from external food judgments to internal body awareness.

By dismantling food stigma, we get to embrace a more holistic approach to nourishment. Because by tuning into our internal guidance, we can forge a healthier and more intuitive relationship with food, promoting overall wellness and self-care.

In this thought-provoking podcast episode, I reflect on how society, largely unaware of the intricacies of menstrual flow, fails to accommodate women adequately. Us women, however, we can adopt a transformative concept: the cycle strategy—a framework that empowers women to align their lives with their menstrual cycles, which is a complete game-changer.

Through understanding our own cycles, we can actively reshape our routines, work environments, and relationships to harness the full potential of each phase every month.
