Welcome to The Sigma Dad Podcast. Have you ever wondered where you fit in amongst other males? Have you always been slightly misunderstood by others except for a select few? In the male socio sexual hierarchy there are levels that exist beginning with the Alpha male at the top, followed by the Beta, Delta, Gamma and Omega males. Just outside of this hierarchy exists the Sigma male, right near the top next to the Alpha. Who is the Sigma Male? The Sigma is essentially an “introverted alpha”. This enigmatic man has puzzled many that encounter him, while leaving others wanting to know more about him. Enter this podcast. I have been on a recent journey of self-discovery into what my next move in life was going to be since my retail retirement, and I stumbled across the term “sigma male”. As I went down this rabbit hole and learned more about this breed of man, I reflected on my life (Sigma males are also very introspective) and began to realize that I AM A SIGMA MALE. Since learning more about this male archetype, it has allowed me to gain a better understanding of the many complex layers that make up the Sigma Male. The other part is that is has helped me to grow as a man, husband, and father. This podcast will teach you about sigma males, from the perspective of a sigma. Most of what I’ve come across explains what traits the sigma male has, and how they think and act, but there really isn’t much perspective FROM a sigma out there…UNTIL NOW!!! One of the goals of this podcast is to demystify some of what makes a sigma tick, so that people on the outside looking in, can gain a better understanding of us. Another layer to this podcast will be the other side of me that is a HUGE GEEK and I hope to discuss some of this as well. Some of the examples will come directly from some of my favorite comics, movies, anime games, etc. I want to find the other sigma males out there who may have known that you weren’t exactly an Alpha, but you KNOW you’re not a Beta and the others don’t even apply. It must be somewhere I fall. As humans truthfully, we want to belong to SOMETHING. My fellow sigma males, I KNOW YOU ARE OUT THERE, and I want this to be the platform where you can get the answers to some of those internal questions that you always ask yourself. I want this podcast to inspire you to reach to be the best version of you!
Sigma males are like human chameleons. You drop them anywhere and they are going to blend in effortlessly. You wouldn't even have any idea, that there was a sigma male standing next to you. You probably don't now. But the ones listening to this, you are that guy, that they overlook and underestimate. You're the one that seamlessly goes into a location, gets the lay of the land and the lay of the people, and no one could be the wiser. And with the sigmas analytical thinking mind, always looking to solve the problem. A sigma male will put himself in an unfamiliar situation, just to see how he can get himself out of it, or how he can navigate his way through it.

With the recent passing of Jason David Frank due to suicide, it really got me thinking about the status of men's health and emotions. Society teaches and programs men to not talk about their emotions, nor embrace them and learn to deal with them. It makes us think that we have to be almost robotic, and some men don't learn how to deal with the emotions that either get bottled inside or ran away from completely. The end result is typically not good, as it's just a rush of whatever emotion is in control at that time.
I pulled up some numbers from the CDC website (Suicide Increases in 2021 After Two Years of Decline (cdc.gov) that I talk about in this just to bring some more awareness to men's mental health as it's constantly being swept under the rug.

How does the sigma male react when he gets the news from his lady that "we're pregnant"? What are some of the thoughts that go through his head? Me personally, I approached it in a unique way. Listen to find out how an argument over pop tarts turned into me gaining a better understanding of what my wife was going thru at the time.
Learn how a sigma male uses empathy to gain a better understanding of the pregnancy and how we use our analytical mind to approach parenting. The sigma is also very introspective and is looking to constantly improve himself, for the sake of his children.

Welcome to the Sigma Dad Podcast. This episode gives you an intro into just what a sigma male is and asks some questions for some introspection so you can ask yourself, have I always been a sigma male? I created this podcast as a way to help explain some of the mystery that surrounds this elusive breed of man. Most of what you read on the net explains how a sigma male thinks, acts and the traits, but I haven't found anything that explains HOW we think and act, FROM a sigma male. It's easy to speak about something from the outside looking in, but I want to offer the perspective from the inside out.
