I didn't really grow up feeling guilty whenever I did petty things to get back at people who wronged me. Upon reflection today and in recent moments in life, I started to feel otherwise and take on a biblical perspective when I feel wronged.

Jesus was real and there is no doubt about that. He came into the world proclaiming that he is the son of God. If he was telling the truth, if he wasn't a liar or a lunatic, than he is LORD and now we want to study EVERYTHING he did say when he was on earth. He said things about who we are, why we were created, where we are headed after we die - and don't we want answers?!

God doesn't call us to demonstrate our faith on just Sunday by showing up to church. He wants to be part of every area of our lives - even at our work, even in our relationships with friends, even with our money management. Even eating! How?

You can donate all the money you want to charity, never tell a single lie, and spend all your time serving the poor. Is that what saves you and gives you access to heaven? To God? If so, exactly what quantity of "goodness" must you exercise to be saved?

🚨 NEW SERIES ALERT!!! 🚨 My mom always told me that if I want to be successful in life, I need to read the book of Proverbs from the Bible, because that book focuses a whole lot on wisdom. Well, what do you know? Recently I received as a gift a 365-day daily devotional that delves solely into the book of Proverbs. What else do you know? One of my goals for 2023 is to be more consistent spending time learning more about God and growing in my Christian faith. So, the timing was perfect for me to receive this book, because completing a short daily devo is a tangible, manageable way to meet my goal. Of course, I will be reading the Bible, the raw source, as well, but this devo is literally one page a day in a tiny hardcover book - it will at least get me into the momentum of regularly chewing on food for thought on Biblical truths.
One disclaimer. What I'm NOT trying to to by sharing my devos is to have anyone look to me as a model of inspiration. You'll realize very quickly when you start listening to my upcoming episodes, that unlike my previous ones, I won't be sharing tips and takeaways for you to follow. I'm on my own faith journey, as are you, and I'm simply inviting you to take a peek. None of my thoughts on my devos are being shared to have you emulate how I process and act upon them. You're going to get raw, unfiltered thoughts. This is a safe space for me to explore and put out not only what I agree with and appreciate about the Bible but also my questions, doubts, and disagreements. All without feeling like a heretic, without being afraid to be judged for not responding to everything with "God is good, all the time; all the time, God is good." Shoutout to if you get the reference. 😉
If you've been a believer for a while, you know you don't necessarily understand every single thing in the Bible. You may have brushed those questions and confusions aside without having spent time and energy wrestling with whatever "ruins" your perfect image of God and the Christian faith. What good does that do to your faith though? A long-time pet peeve of mine in Christian group settings is any thought or sentiment that even slightly veers off into the direction of questioning the Bible is met with awkward silences and this palpable drop in mood. I'm not talking about questioning the Bible from a disrespectful standpoint by the way, and obviously, it is not like every single Christian group setting is like this, but in my experience, this kind of an environment has been common and never have I found those moments conducive to further stimulating my curiosity, being motivated to continue seeking the truth, and ultimately growing in my faith. So join me in this safe space to explore all thoughts that come to mind. God can handle them.
If you want to get your own copy and follow along, the link is below! Maybe you're a fellow Christian, a seeker, or neither. Doesn't matter as long as you are willing to stay curious and open-minded, I'd love to have you join me. 😌 Another disclaimer is that I am not referencing any commentaries or other resources as I'm doing my devo. I'm going solely off of what's on the devo. Reference those materials at your own will if you want.

😉 If you've been a believer for a while, you know you don't necessarily understand every single thing in the Bible.
I'm not talking about questioning the Bible from a disrespectful standpoint by the way, and obviously, it is not like every single Christian group setting is like this, but in my experience, this kind of an environment has been common and never have I found those moments conducive to further stimulating my curiosity, being motivating to continue seeking the truth, and ultimately growing in my faith.
Reference those materials at your own will if you are following along.

🚨 NEW SERIES ALERT!!! 🚨
My mom always told me that if I want to be successful in life, I need to read the book of Proverbs from the Bible, because that book focuses a whole lot on wisdom.
Why am I sharing my devos on a podcast platform? Accountability purposes. I shared that one of my goals this year is to spend more time learning about God and growing in my Christian faith. I'm one of those people who'll for sure slack off and give myself cheat days if I keep my goals a secret. But, I have too much pride to publicize my goals, just to not meet them, so to prevent me from being inconsistent as much as possible, I have created the friction of publicizing my devos!

😉 If you've been a believer for a while, you know you don't necessarily understand every single thing in the Bible.
Reference those materials at your own will if you are following along.

My mom always told me that if I want to be successful in life, I need to read the book of Proverbs from the Bible, because that book focuses a whole lot on wisdom. Well, what do you know? I know we have had our fair share of days or seasons of feeling plain... stupid. We prefer to think highly of ourselves and believe that we know "everything," but that's impossible. As a human, you're guaranteed to go have moments when you feel like you're constantly making mistakes and failing - but what if we don't have to feel so dejected in those moments? What if we can use those moments as opportunities to grow instead? And what can we do the next time we find ourselves discouraged at our falls?

Whether you are a Britney fan or not, as per the title of this episode, I am sharing a topic that everyone can relates with - liminal space. I didn't know this term existed until a serendipitous conversation happened with a friend and I was able to use it to describe the state of being in-between. We ALL go through transitions in our lives and sometimes when you are in that in-between space, things feel unsteady, uncertain, and uncomfortable. What is the best headspace to posture ourselves in when we are stuck in that mental purgatory? I share my current example of a liminal space, being a 27-year-old and feeling "I'm not a girl, not yet a woman." Britney sings it better.

This is a big topic for me and one that I wanted to discuss ever since I first entertained the idea of podcasting. I grew up with race being super salient to me and race was a big part of what molded me. On this episode, I share my childhood experiences with regard to my racial identity and how I came to finally shake off my shame. Hope you enjoy!

Not that those aren't useful skills to learn, but how about kindness? What can that teach us and how does that help us growth holistically as a person Enjoy! 🧡
