My name is Rochelle. I'm Dutch / Filipino. Born in Europe, raised in Asia, and living in America. On this show - Iโll be sitting down with friends to chat about how their life stories have prepared them for who they are today. By connecting the dots, what their roadblocks are, and their path to becoming their version of success. As a former expat, third culture kid, artist, and life coach - I am eager to share insights and perspectives on this journey with you. I hope something resonates with you, and I'd be interested in connecting with you and your story!
๐๏ธ Another Birthday, Another Life Lesson.
๐ August ReflectionLeaning into the new season, forced me to reflect on my past year. There is so much that life teaches you, and you have to choose to be present to take it all in. To my surprise, there was more than I anticipated, which made me reflect on the fact that I want to try to be better and stay present in the moment, even if it's uncomfortable.
I was fortunate enough to reconnect and rekindle my friendships, with two of my friends, from my life in The Netherlands, without knowing the impact that would have on my journey of becoming a more self aware individual.
Life is about the journey, not about the end result.

On today's episode, I'm excited to begin sharing more on the topic of EMPOWERMENT.ย
For the past month, I've been going back and forth on what it means to be empowered, how to empower someone else, and what I do to empower myself. I realized that it's a loaded question with a variety of answers and approaches.ย
Here I share a short story about a coaching session I had a year ago, where my coach shared a visualization tool to help me empower myself when I'd need it.ย
Through my coaching experiences, starting a business, and simply trying to do it all and stay motivated, I learned that when I can't empower myself, I tap into my support system and ask them to empower me.ย
I can't do it all, and I don't want to.ย
Just do you.ย
I hopeย you enjoy it,
Ro

We are two coaches, each other client, and coach, and we are here to share some insight on our experience around:
What is life coaching?
What is not life coaching?
What can you expect during a life coaching session?
How did life coaching help us in our transitions?
How did we get to the program?
What did it take to start over?
What did we learn from shedding the old and coming into the new?
Lastly, a few takeaways.ย

Chatting more about life after graduation, working on an artist-run group show called AKI goes Amsterdam, at W139.
What life was like attempting to set off my art career, how that didn't happen, and what I did in the meantime.
I speak frankly about the disappointments and how in that moment of despair, you find yourself in the right place at the right time, photographing a culture that you never thought of pursuing - graffiti.
How the culture of graffiti, the writers, and the energy helped me get to a place of acceptance and closure of my long battle of self-doubt. This helped me create Masta Ro.

I speak vulnerably about what it's like starting this podcasting journey, that it's really hard and what I didn't know I needed to prepare myself for, before starting.
I had to call in backup - my dear friend Marlene, who lives all the way in Singapore, took 2 hours out of her evening to sit with me, prompt me and provide me with the space to share my story without reluctance and hesitation.
We go through a short rundown of:
In part 2, I'll discuss my process with analog photography and becoming Masta Ro.
Definition analog photography:
"Analog photography describes a style of photography that utilizes chemical processes to capture an image on film, paper, or even a plate. Most people refer to this style as โfilm photography,โ as film is the most common foundational piece of analog photography."
