To achieve something, we have to work for a very long time and be consistent. We have to do the thing over and over and over again. To get in shape and start in shape means going to the gym again, and again, and again. Or going on a run, then another, and another, each week, every week. Or reviewing your training materials and study guides consistently. Writing thoughts down on a regular basis, on repeat.

Therefore, the key is to finding something that works for you, and to then keep doing it.

In this episode, I outline some examples and questions we can ask ourselves.

Worry has been around for a long time. In fact, Dale Carnegie wrote about it in 1948 with his book How to Stop Worrying and Start Living. Even before Mr Carnegie’s book bust onto the scene, we have been worrying long before that.

Ancient philosophies in the Hellenistic period talked about it. Ancient heroes had to address it.

In this episode, I outline six daily practices we can put in place to help us with worry.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately on the idea of how we improve, show up, and make progress. All of these words can have multiple definitions and meaning. Is it enough to just show up to something? Is 1% better good enough when improving at things? Are we even improving ourselves in the things that matter?

Part of improving and making progress is to show our work, even in its imperfection. In this episode, I outline why.

One of the simple things I’ve discovered to getting results is to just show up and be consistent. Not that it’s easy. A lot of the time, it’s downright hard. I don’t want to ‘show up,’ so to speak, at the gym to do legs if I’m tired and sore and feel like taking a day off.

Many things in life take time to achieve, and a lifetime to maintain. Consistency gets us there.

In this video, I explain why and share some of my own strategies and tips on consistency.

Life is short. We are often reminded this, and at the same time, we can get so easily caught up in our own world and forget this lesson. We need to make a conscious effort to reflect and challenge ourselves on how we are spending our time and day.

As such, we want to cultivate the right daily habits. But what are they? The simplest explanation is that each day we want to engage in activities that enable us to live out our philosophy of life.

In this video, I outline a few practical ideas on daily habits we want to cultivate.

It’s been just over a year since we bought and moved into our townhouse. A lot has happened these twelve months so it’s a good chance to check in and reflect on the lessons learnt from home ownership. For starters, it’s great that we have a long term place we can grow our lives in and call our own. That we have a space we can change and adjust as needed. One that we can build many memories in. We've also had a lot of learning along the way, which I outline below.

Time management is something I geek out about as I’m constantly thinking about how I can free up more time in my day for the things that matter to me and I enjoy - time with family, friends, community, health, movement, learning, hobbies.

One of the tools that I use the Pomodoro® Technique. It’s a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. In this video, I outline the benefits.

I’ve just finished reading Limitless by Jim Kwok. It’s a great great and I highly recommend it.

To be limitless is to unlock the full potential of our brains so we can learn better and achieve more. Unlocking your brain is more than just about unlocking your brain. To do that, we need to strengthen other areas of our body and lives.

There is a lot to unpack and reflect on. For now, here’s a five takeaways on how to prepare to unlock our potential.

It’s the start of 2023 so it’s a great time to look at the habits and systems we currently have in place and seek inspiration and tips on what modifications we might want to make.

I love morning routines. I find that it sets me up to have a great day and puts me in a really good mood and mindset. It helps me accomplish a lot of important things early in the day, which then means I can be more flexible in the afternoons and evenings - I don’t have to worry about trying to get a workout in, trying to move, and so forth. I’ve already done that.

I am interested in how I can continue to refine my routines. What are the small things we can put in place that will help us be healthier each day? I’m not suggesting that we implement all of these. Rather, we might find inspiration from some of them and be able to incorporate them into our mornings.

I outline 11 tips/items to consider to add to our morning routine in this video.

There is a lot that we want to accomplish. Aims that will take us a while to come to fruition and that require us to stay the course. Building and staying in good health. Having a great marriage. Building a family. Creating. Forming connections.

Now that we are embedding our systems, it’s time to also think about how do we best go about making real progress towards the things that we have decided are important to us.

Small, focused work each day and week helps us to keep discipline, make meaningful progress, and manage all of the various tings we want to do.

I outline why this week's episode.

The general theme for the past few podcast has been that life places many demands on us. There is a lot that we want to do and a feeling that there is not enough time for us to complete it all. Add in to that procrastination and time wasted on the unimportant, and suddenly it can became difficult to actually go and do the things we need to do. The things that we ought to do. What we want to do.

System builds chunks of time into our day or weeks where we can allow our habits to take shape.

I outline why systems are key in this week's episode.

Would love to know some of the systems you use.

Hello and welcome to the Healthier Each Day podcast. Each episode we'll share tips, tricks, and advice on how we can become healthier each day.

Life places many demands on us. We want to be great with our families. To be fit and healthy. To maintain connections. We need to be focused with our time and make sure it takes us where we want to go. One system my wife and I use is to have a monthly check in for each other, which we call our Super Couple Brunch. This also works if you want to use dinner instead as your check in. It's a dedicated time to see how we are going.

In this episode, I outline in greater detail our three themes of:
-Last month's reflections
-This month's focus
-Love

Would love to know how you structure your own check in conversations.
