The C word makes me itch TO THIS DAY! Control, control, control! I want to be able to turn and swerve that thing whichever way I please. But life doesn’t work that way huh?I’ve had to have a sit down with myself and look at what’s in my control and what’s out of it. Having “full” control helped me have a grasp over my life, or so I thought. But the tighter I tried to have every aspect of my life under control, the more chaotic/draining life got.It was only when I embraced what I could control (my decisions, my attitude, etc.), and gave to God what I couldn’t control that I began to see a positivechange in my day-to-day life and how I handled things. Overall, I now have a healthier outlook on life.

Dwelling on the past is like trying to drive forward while staring at the rearview mirror – you'll end up stumbling, maybe even crashing! God didn’t bring you out of it just so you could dwell on it, miss it, and keep reliving it. He has better waiting for you. Don’t prolong the great things that lie ahead by focusing on what was.

Sometimes I look back simply because I know what’s there, I miss it, I know what I’m going to get, and honestly, I can harp on how I could have changed it. When I look ahead, though I’m optimistic, part of me is still fearful simply because so many unknown factors lie ahead. But I’ve learned, and I’m still learning, that despite the unknown… one thing that is known is hope. And that’s what outweighs looking in the rearview mirror.

Attention, attention, attention. What deserves our attention? What should we give our attention to? How do we delegate our attention? Let’s talk about it.

Topics Discussed:

  • Compartmentalizing
  • Creating a Mental Drawer
  • Distractions

Attention serves as a key indicator of relevance and impact. In essence, compartmentalizing and discerning priorities help us to navigate life's complexities with greater efficiency and resilience.

Comfortably uncomfortable: getting acclimated to the things that make us uncomfortable, the things we must do to grow. It challenges us to confront fears and expand our boundaries, encouraging resilience and adaptability. Being comfortably uncomfortable also cultivates a mindset that welcomes change, ultimately leading to personal development and the ability to navigate the complexities of life more effectively.

It's in those uncomfortable moments that we often find our greatest opportunities for growth and transformation.

In this week’s episode, we discuss:

  • What being “comfortably uncomfortable” means
  • Settling into things that make us uncomfortable so we can grow
  • How being “comfortably uncomfortable” produces confidence in God and ourselves

Being obedient and giving God my ‘yes’ is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. That yes has come with its challenges too. We hear so much about the beauty and upside of being obedient to the point where we forget to mention the backside: the process. And that process can be well… a lot. Obedience produces beauty, endurance and resilience, but I also want us to dive into the backside so we can better endure the process and trust God through it.

In this week’s episode, we discuss:

  • What being obedient entails
  • Why God calls us to be obedient
  • What obedience produces
  • The process of obedience
  • Obeying in seasons to come IG and TikTok: @ohhh_jada

In this week's episode, we dive into all things fact over feeling. Sometimes we hit a wall where we have no choice but to feel. But what do you do with those feelings? What if those feelings are contrary to what you know to be true? It's important to remember that these thoughts don't always reflect reality nor do they reflect God's truth about you. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, in this week’s episode, we’ll be discussing “Minding Your Mind?” What does your thought process look like when good things happen in your life? What about when bad things happen? How do you handle it when you know you’re doing the necessary work, taking care of your mental health… and then a past trigger or test comes to see how this evolved version of you can stand up against it?

While it’s a daily task, when done with love, patience and discipline… developing a more positive outlook and stronger mental fortitude is worth it in the long run. Stay mindful.

How do we adjust during the seasons of our life when things don’t go as planned? What do you do when life "simply happens?"

Some things that have helped me:

  • Make the best of what you’ve got
  • Analyze what keeps you grounded
  • Take care of yourself and give yourself some grace

Takeaways:

  • God uses seasons like that to help build our endurance.
  • Those moments are also meant to draw you closer to God. You’re not in it alone.
  • Those moments are what God uses to show you that you can handle the more challenging seasons of life.

Have we overly romanticized the process of healing? Have we made it seem so "glamorous" because we've fixated more on the outcome than what we're putting into the process? It's easy to put the healing process into a particular time frame or get so caught up in the result that we forget to be intentional. But for those who are going through it or have gone through it, you know the healing process entails much more than what meets the eye. Healing is hard work.

Healing isn't summed up in a quote, nor can it be given a particular "date of completion." The impact of the healed version of you is predicated on how active you are within the journey itself.

If you're going through a season of healing, remember to check in with yourself throughout your journey. Make sure you're doing it for yourself, be patient with yourself, and give yourself grace as you go through it. There will be ups and downs, but you'll be a better version of yourself in hindsight.

Do it scared!

When it comes to taking on our goals and dreams, it can be an exciting task. But for some, and I'll even admit for myself, it can be a scary thing to take on. Don't let your fear hold you back any longer. Even if you have to do it scared, do it.

Whatever goal or idea you have, pick it up and move forward, knowing you can do it.

When you end up looking your fears in the face, you end up seeing the strength and resiliency that was in you all along.

"Confront your fears and they won't be fears anymore."
