Host Dee Daniels records onstage at Front Porch Improv with co-founder, improviser, and instructor Bri Halverson, who reflects on building a permanent home after years of being nomadic and emphasizes gratitude for audiences and a “fountain” energy approach.
Bri outlines Front Porch’s offerings: weekly shows every Friday and Saturday, workshops and applied improv for organizations, adult and kids classes, camps, private shows, stand-up, and a free local show, plus the Savannah For Morons interactive trolley tour. She details ACTS, Front Porch’s nonprofit arm partnered with Brightside Casa, delivering trauma-informed, evidence-based improv tools for under-resourced youth through an eight-week program focused on social-emotional regulation and role-play scenarios, funded partly by a City of Savannah grant and fundraising.
Bri also shares improv fundamentals, handling off-the-wall suggestions, scholarship efforts, casting and auditions, and a new Second Circle Club for neurodivergent men seeking social-skills practice and funding.

Welcome to a FAN FAVORITE EPISODE on the Made of Savannah podcast, host Dee Daniels sits down with Enocha Edenfield - a former NBC Savannah broadcast journalist who moved to Savannah in 2010 and began researching the origins of local ghost stories during the pandemic, which grew into a busy private tour business focused on accuracy and archival sources.
The episode explores Savannah’s cemeteries, noting about 80 in Chatham County and six city-owned sites (Colonial Park, Laurel Grove North and South, Bonaventure, Greenwich, and Evergreen), and explains why preservation matters, using Colonial Park’s long neglect and an estimated 7,000–9,000 graves as a cautionary example. Ika shares stories and landmarks from Bonaventure (Little Gracie, John Walz, Conrad Aiken, the Bird Girl relocation, and Johnny Mercer), discusses Greenwich’s plantation past and Midnight-related graves, clarifies hoodoo vs. voodoo, and outlines Laurel Grove’s segregated origins and notable sections.

Get ready Savannah, we're about to do TIME WARP again! We're on-location at CLUB ONE just before rehearsal for The Rocky Horror Show LIVE with The Bay Street Theatre. Director Rick Garman along with Stage Manager Gwen Leahy and Choreographer Hannah Dodson sits down with us - on center stage - to give us the inside story of 16 years of this cult classic in Savannah.
Hannah talks about her peak moment playing the role of Janet Weiss last year when she looked out in the audience and spotted "special high-top tables" with a couple of VIP audience members. It wasn't until the scene "Over at the Frankenstein Place" when Hannah was singing a solo that she truly spotted the one-and-only Susan Sarandon who played Janet in the film The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
When you attend the show this year, you'll be able to get in on the auctions of Rocky Horror memorabilia and merchandise. All proceeds from the auctions will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, one of the nation’s leading industry-based, nonprofit fundraising and grant-making organizations. Since 1988 Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS has raised more than $300 million for essential services for people living with HIV/AIDS, struggling with COVID-19, and facing other critical illnesses and humanitarian crises in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Washington, D.C., and in countries around the world.

Thrilling tales and historic facts aplenty on this episode with a Made of Savannah FAN-FAVORITE ... Ghost and History Tour Guide Enocha Edenfield.
Enocha Edenfield Tours is one the most popular tours to experience in Coastal Georgia. Enocha worked in print and broadcast news for nearly two decades prior to deciding to shift paths. During the 2020 shutdown, Enocha started sharing some of Savannah's ghost stories on TikTok. It wasn't long before she was getting requests for tours.
In this episode, Enocha explores Savannah's ties to all things "Friday the 13th". She also takes us to an area called Spring Hill - the site of the Spring Hill Redoubt during the American Revolutionary War. Here, on October 9, 1779, one of the bloodiest engagements of the Revolution was fought when repeated assaults were made by the allied troops of Georgia, South Carolina and France in an effort to retake Savannah from the British.
Also in this episode, we have a brush with a possible "Intersex icon" - Casimir Pulaski.
From the Smithsonian Magazine:
"In the 1990s, researchers exhumed a set of human remains from a Savannah, Georgia, monument believed to belong to Casimir Pulaski, the swashbuckling Polish cavalryman who fought for the Americans during the Revolutionary War. The circumstances surrounding Pulaski’s death and burial in 1779 were murky, and for more than 150 years, doubts had swirled over whether his body was, in fact, the one that had been interred at the monument built in his honor. The researchers hoped to finally put the debate to rest. But what they found only deepened the mystery surrounding Pulaski’s identification.
The skeleton unearthed from the site appeared characteristically female—particularly the pelvic bones and delicate facial structure. It was possible, the researchers theorized, that the body buried at the monument was not Pulaski’s, as some had suspected. But many of the skeleton’s traits were consistent with Pulaski’s known features: the age of death, the height of the skeleton, a healed injury on the right hand, changes to the hip joints common in frequent riders. So the team came up with another theory: perhaps Pulaski was intersex."
Enocha offers a history/ghost tour combo discount. All tours are private and can be family-friendly and dog-friendly by request.

For some, it might be hard to believe that the quaint, often-called quirky (in a great way) town of Thunderbolt, Georgia is only five miles southeast of downtown Savannah. Thunderbolt runs along the western shore of Wilmington River - which is a tidal river that is part of the U.S. Intracoastal Waterway. The town's picture-perfect atmosphere and much talked about restaurants certainly keep its residents beaming with joy - and visitors coming back for more.
One of those famous restaurants is called FINCHES Sandwiches and Sundries - owned by our guests today - Rebecca Gawley and Jamie Pleta. The pair share a passion for serving the community with a side of fun and flare.
You'll hear the stories behind coming up with the name, building the dynamite menu, and how the customers quickly become family. Jamie and Rebecca also talk about the challenges around running a business - and a restaurant - during COVID as well as during an intense political season.

We have the pleasure today of sitting down with Captain Jason DeShay and Jamie Coffey who are the proud owners of the new boat charter experience called Sweetwater Charters of Savannah. We are excited to have Jay and Jamie - and Sweetwater Charters - as one of our sponsors this season.
Captain Jay brings 25 years of professional experience as a yacht captain across the globe and Jamie Coffey brings over 20 years of event production, along with a decade of teaching yoga and leading retreats to the team. While both are world travelers, their love story began right here in Savannah, and they knew instantly they wanted to share their passion for a life on the water with the local community and visitors from near and far – and from this inspiration, Sweetwater Charters was born! Jamie and Jay reside in beautiful Thunderbolt with their Jack Russell puppy named Ginger, who also serves as "little skipper” on board.
There are so many adventures you can choose from like: 2-6 Hour Cruises, Daytripping to Daufuskie Island, Mermaids & Mimosas, and Sharktooth Island. Laura and Perry Solomon are the hearts, hands and minds responsible for creating the first floating oyster farm in Georgia. The Tybee Oyster Company is a full-on family operation bringing a deeper - and delicious - meaning to being "Georgia Grown".
Born and raised on Tybee Island, Perry's family has been there for six generations - his grandfather even took the train (The Marsh Hen) back and forth to school in Savannah. He says a big part of his childhood was "enjoying the bounties of the sea" with his family. As Laura and Perry traveled with the Navy, they watched the oyster industry evolve and grow in other states and wondered why it wasn't happening in Georgia. So, they took it in their hands ... for real!
As far as the growing process: You've likely heard about - and maybe even had the pleasure of eating - the Salt Bombs. These oysters are grown at the mouth of the Bull River within sight of the Atlantic Ocean. They are cultivated in floating baskets where they are polished and shaped by the brisk current and high energy wave action rolling-in off Wassaw Sound.
They all begin as seed provided by the UGA Oyster Hatchery on the Skidaway River, right here in Savannah.
Mark your calendars to celebrate National Oyster Day at Savannah's inaugural raw bar event, the "Georgia Oyster Revival" November 10th at Starland Yard.

Time Traveling Drag Queens in the 1960s is about to take flight June 21st, 22nd, and 23rd on the second floor of Club One, at 1 Jefferson Street in historic Savannah.
When three drag queens find a time traveling device, they get sent on an era-spanning journey that has taken them through the decades. In the 1940s, they helped a USO troupe put on a show. In the 1980s, they helped a group of high school kids put on prom.
This time they land in the 1960s and have to help solve a murder while posing as stewardesses! The Queens are thrown into a wild world of pillbox hat, go-go boots, and flower power as the clock is counting down fast. Can they find the killer before they take flight?

Blues guitarist, singer/songwriter - and Savannah legend - Eric Culberson is on the mic to talk about growing up in Coastal Georgia and grinding his way to passion and purpose in the music industry.
Eric recalls the turning-point gig he played in Savannah in the 80's when he got paid more in one night of playing music than he was making in his day job working construction. After many late nights of playing gigs, early mornings of construction work, and falling asleep in a port-a-potty - he went full-time into music.
While reminiscing about life as a musician during Covid, Eric shares his view from the "ten-thousand-pound merry-go-round". He says, "I'm supposed to be doing this. A higher power has always been in charge of things".

Well, I'm convinced that the term "Southern Charm" brings forth an image in most people's minds. And after sitting down with my guest on this episode, I'm also certain it has a sound. Sit back, relax, and pour yourself a comforting cocktail while you get to know one of the coolest Savannahians around - Investor and Business Owner Lenorris Williams III.
Born and raised in Savannah, Georgia - Lenorris has spent his life building connections (and of course, perfecting his golf game). Beyond his professional success, Lenorris is deeply committed to serving this community and contributing to its growth and development.
He actively serves on the board of Directors for five - about to be six - area organizations, and he leaves us all with an inspiring nugget of truth: "What's the point in having success - and doing all this - if you're not gonna do any good with it?".

We're "behind the gates" and on-location at St. Vincent's Academy at the iconic corner of Abercorn and Liberty Streets in historic Savannah, Georgia.
St. Vincent's was founded on June 23, 1845, when Father Jeremiah Francis O'Neill brought six Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy from Charleston, South Carolina. We're seated in the parlor amidst priceless artifacts, works of art, and whispers from the past - and grateful to be joined by Sister Paula Cockerham, Loretto Lomanack - the school's Director of Alumni & Archivist, and Diane Parker - the chair of the annual Nun Run.
Thanks to the eloquent storytelling of these fine women, we are transported back to a time when the son and daughter of Jefferson Davis - as well as the renowned writer Mary Flannery O'Connor - were students at St. Vincent's.

LOVE & MOXiE's tagline says it ALL - "Life is short. Live with MOXIE".
Danielle White is one of the founders and creators at LOVE & MOXiE in Savannah, Georgia. Along with her mom Renee, Danielle has built a fashionable, vibrant, functional AND do-good business that has become quite the hot "go-to-spot". LOVE & MOXiE focuses on handcrafted small-batch, one-of-a-kind bags and accessories too - BUT know this - we weren't kidding about the NCIS!
After Danielle's mom was diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer's, she decided to pivot from a 15+year career in law enforcement and move to Savannah so she could "cherish the time we had - living our lives to the fullest on our own terms". And my goodness, they are doing just that!
Danielle describes LOVE & MOXiE's vibe as classic with a twist, a dash of whimsey and a whole lot of craftsmanship and function. This dynamic duo is also giving back to Alzheimer's care and research. Two-dollars of every item sold are donated to two very important Alzheimer's charities: Savannah's Senior Citizen's INC and New York City's CaringKind.

Sitting across the table today is Hermina Glass-Hill - historian, writer, preservationist, sustainability advocate - a voice for environmental justice and human rights - Oceana's Georgia Senior Field Representative - and the foremost scholar on Susie King Taylor in the United States.
Hermina recalls what she felt when she first read Susie King Taylor's book back in 2009 - "I was shocked. I had traveled to Savannah for business thousands of times, and when I read it, I was like ... this is all about Georgia, Savannah, you know the Coastal area. I worked in the Civil War Center at Kennesaw State University - and I was like holy smoke, what?!?! I am Georgia born and bred and listen - I know everything there is to know about Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, and Clara Barton who started the American Red Cross - but I had never heard anything about Susie King Taylor, and she's from my home state. And I decided that I wanted to do something about this."

Historian and Savannah Tour Guide Enocha Edenfield has spent years carefully researching Savannah’s haunted history as well as collecting first-hand accounts. She's always a favorite guest on this show - and many others - and she's sitting down with us to celebrate LOVE MONTH by pulling back the creepy, dusty curtain on some recent "encounters" as well as Georgia's first murder trial.
Have you heard about Alice Riley? She's one of the central figures in the first murder trial in Georgia. The trial resulted in her alleged co-conspirator being hanged. But Alice revealed that she was pregnant. I'll leave the rest of this horrible story for Enocha to tell.

We spent a morning with Jonathan touring several buildings with unique architectural styles and explained the city's history and culture that influenced the design of the buildings. His book "Savannah Architectural Tours" is a comprehensive guide to Savannah's architecture, with beautiful photographs and detailed descriptions of each building.
